From the seriously underated Rupie Edwards production comes Bongo Herman. Magical.

Had the honour of meeting and chatting with Bongo Herman recently at 56 Hope St, Kingston. The man's a legend.

Very true . Although it’s definitely an early choon, this isn’t even really close to the earliest though. The first stuff was recorded in the late ‘60s.

Slim Smith & the Uniques are the original foundation singers to this song (CONVERSATION or MY CONVERSATION). It was originally released in 1968 (ROCKSTEADY ERA). All the other versions came after. In my own opinion, all the other cuts by other artists using the same identical Riddim are very good versions too!

Rupie Edwards was master of dub production at that time until Lee Perry came into town, Bongo Herman drumming was wicked at the time because it brought that African and Rasta element to the dub, Bob Marley and the Wailers adopted that style in their band, always have a bongo player
