Yep, another good one! Dropping email addresses in the comments section of posts is an easy way of opening yourself up to general spamming as well.

Thank you my man! This one was a group effort with a lot of collected info from asking a bunch of questions and even experiencing a good chunk of this stuff first hand as well. Gotta try and work together to prevent as much scamming as possible.

Great tips. So sad how many crafters are so eager to sign up and not do some quick checking first.
I’ve had scammers hijack posts made in legitimate shows stating they still have booths available and they need to be IM directly without going through the organizer.
Also had friends get IM directly from scammer after they post in a real event looking for a spot. Be careful too posting in a real event asking if there are booths left. Scammers are taking advantage of those people. Best to send an email or private message to the organizer than posting for everyone to see you are looking for a spot.

I see a lot of scams in FB - Again, not a guarantee but look for incorrect English grammar and also, for some reason the scammers like to offer multiple space sizes! As soon as I see that, I check into it further and it is usually a scam.

Excellent points Dina! Yeah the bad grammar and spelling is one of the biggest red flags. Nice tip on the booth sizes - another thing for people to keep in mind to prevent getting scammed!
