    Rob, bro, you don't need to play this game. You didn't write the book for the families and you don't need to carry that mantra. You wrote the book because you spent 16 years of your life fighting for your country, undertaking 400+ combat missions, and putting your ass on the line every night, just so the Navy could tell you after a lifetime of service and near double digit deployments (or more?) that your kids would no longer be insured the day after you got out. You wrote the book because you did something amazing and have an incredible opportunity to capitalize on it, and personally, I think you deserve it considering the shit compensation you guys get for what you do. Just be real.

      All the men of our military are blessings. Even way moreso than navy seals. While seals are beasts, for the last 20 yrs most of their training was unnecessary. Our regular Army infentey, Rangers and all fkn Marines were just as capable of kicking doors in and tearing shit up over there. We just hear the seals talk about it. Seals, and all special forces were not needed due to the regular military men kicking ass over there. Trust me marines and Army saved seals ass most of the time in a pinch. I am not knocking seals, but you being a Marine know y'all kicked way more ass than seals or special forces ever could conceive. Even doing the Bin Laden raid, if marines had access to all the technology that seals have Marines could a swarmed that place just as effectively.

So I lived in a tent, and then after saving enough a Jeep SUV, then eventually a place.

    I was in the Navy Seabees for 7 years. The one thing I don't get is how you do 17 years, make E-8, and decide to get out. 3 years from retirement and you leave? Maybe someone else was going to write a book before him claiming to have shot Bin Laden. It's just really fucking stupid to get out that close to retirement.

    • @mattwoodardtn
      @mattwoodardtn Před 6 lety +2

      Exactly...thing is though. 20&30 yrs from now its gonna get tougher to make that income. I hope he is really investing for the future. Rob really has a good personality. Id like to see him doing something to do with public. Awesome story teller. I gotta admit as Navy vet i was kinda mad at him nd gave him no chance. My mind was made up already. Weird story while i was in we were giving a platoon from 4 a ride to a training thing they were doing. While we were waiting for a couple guys to show i asked there senior chief what he thought about rogue warrior because i just read it. Im a ride or die dude and loyalty is huge with me and this chief told me his thoughts on it. It left me with the sense that nothing good comes from these books everyones writing. Marcus wrote his book and for me that was the exception. You can sense it was more to do with him honoring his brothers. Then the Mark Owen or whoever thing came out and i was like ugggggghhhhh. But then Rob got discovered i watched with contempt but listened. Its took some doing and ive rethought my opinion on this. This mission was bigger than life and like he said it was out there and would have been no time a story would been told. He did make closure for some and seems to have done alot of great things since leaving. Im a huge fan of this guy now. Seems like a guy id be friends with. Big sports guy and not a boy scout alter boy but when shit gets real has honor and character. Really glad he changed my mind. He deserves that much.

      Time was of the essence. Payed more to get out immediately and begin the book deal and speaking, more money than his pension would provide. People want to hear the story now, not later. Other people were writing books so he saw the urgency

    • @chief1193
      @chief1193 Před 6 lety +7

      Common for Team Guys to get out before retirement. They all have different reasons, and unless you been in those situations you would really never know why. Book deal had nothing to do with it, it was more in the area of family.

    • @dobermanxxxl
      @dobermanxxxl Před 6 lety +2

      Chief119 can’t do the million dollar book deal while in the teams. Best to get out, stay alive and enjoy life with money for once. These guys don’t make shit for money. Nobody will ever know why for sure, but it sure seems logical
