    This looks amazing and you explain it so simple and well. I'm cooking my first ever vegan pasta today. It's ok to use fresh tomatoes instead of can ones, as I have acid reflux and can't use tomatoes.😊

      To reduce the acid in tomatoes just add a teaspoon of sugar

      @@HeartfulTable I am new to the vegetarian diet, I have joined my daughter for health reasons and we both absolutely loved this! She said she didn't even miss the mince meat and it tasted just like a real bolognese! Yay! This one will be a keeper, thank you!     Amazing, almost same as mine, although I use dried lentils. Do half red half brown. Add them in when I do the onion, celery and carrots, then add the tomato paste and red wine and saute for a bit before I add the tomatoes, just to cook off the wine.
    Nice recipe, going to make it now

    I come regularly to make, tbh, I could do it without the video now but I still return. I grew up on the grated version which is my preference but my daughter insists on the smooth and I have no choice

    Can I do this with dry lentils if so when should I put them in? Looks delicious can't wait to make it!

      Cook them separately in salted water then drain and add them in at the same time as you would the canned ones. I hope you enjoy it!

    After adding the spagetti to the sauce can you freeze it with the spagetti in it or shoulc freeze it wuthout the spagetti

    Is the yeast necessary, I've never heard if it before? Any substitute for it?

      The nutritional yeast adds a cheesy flavour. It's used a lot on vegan cooking. So you can substitute for other vegan cheese if you wish or just leave it out.

    I'm going to try this recipe today but I do not have nutritional yeast. Will that be alright or will the taste be significantly reduced? May I ask why so many vegan recipes use nutritional yeast?

      It will be fine without it. In a vegans world, it adds that ‘cheesy’ umami flavour to foods 😊

      You could but it would take longer to cook so I would add them in earlier when you add the rest of the ingredients. The texture and final taste would also be different. I personally haven’t tried it. Let me know how it turns out if you give it a go!

    Made this and followed the recipe exactly. Didn't turn out well because of the 'about half a cup of water in each tin' step, turned out too watery because of this. Your video also demonstrates the lentils being cooked as soon as its added in then straight away adding the spaghetti when in actual fact, this took much longer and needed longer waiting time. Appreciate the content but not the best, please be more specific next time.

      Hi, I'm sorry to hear you had issues with this recipe. Did you follow the recipe as per the written instructions? I did specify that it is ½ a cup of water in each can - not half a can of water. If it was too watery, it could have required more cooking? The lentils also come from a can, so they are precooked and don't need any additional time in the pot. I assume you are referring to raw lentils? Again, sorry for the confusion and I hope you have better success next time.
