As a GB fan, I would like to thank all 21 teams that passed on Rogers
you're welcome :(

@jonathan gianguzzo Lol Lol Lol Lol Lol Lol Lol Lol Lol Lol Lol Lol Lol We won our super bowl in the last 10 years lmao
@jonathan gianguzzo Jesus christ. Did you ask him for an autograph and he said no ? Like what's so wrong with him? Please explain instead of claim .
No problem (speaking for Carolina)
“he has flaws in the deep ball game” and in a 13 month span he threw four of the greatest hail marys of all time lmaoooo
@cpk1994 49ers fan?
*3
cpk1994 so they project for the future not the rookie year or present
@cpk1994 Triggered because rodgers beat your team with a hail mary?
@cpk1994 what a big boy word
It’s so ironic that Brady and Rodgers both wanted to go to the 49ers and didn’t and both ended up HOF status QB’s
Its probably because of Joe Montana
Sad

49ers fans are the worst in so glad they didn’t end up there
“Aaron Rodgers can’t throw long downfield” he is now the most iconic Hail Mary QB in NFL history
All facts it’s crazy how things turn out
That arizona hail Mary was amazing.
Na Carson palmer is the hail Mary king
He is now the loser with equal NFC championships in his whole career as Brady won in his first.
I love watching this stuff, seeing these draft experts eat their words
Lol, Tom Brady was from CA and wanted to play for the 49ers and they said PASS. Aaron Rodgers was from CA and wanted to play for the 49ers and they said PASS. 49ers hate their own lol
ihurricane7 not cal college Tom was from Michigan
Michael Counts Both Aaron and Tom's hometowns are in California
Michael Counts Brady was born and raised in California and wanted to be a 49er because he idolized Joe Montana. You missed the point.
I can understand passing on brady so long, but I can't understand passing on Rogers.
One of my biggest regrets is Brett Favre flip flopping in and out of retirement for 4 or 5 years wasting that much of Rogers career forcing him sit on the bench during most of his first year contract.
That's 4 or 5 years of wondering if he's going to start all off season.
That's 4 or 5 years of him not being able to play and help negotiate for a much larger second contract.
And that's 4 or 5 years of career numbers being taken away from him that people in the future will look back and compare him to other players and make him look not as good. He could have an extra 125 td passes, 20,000 passing yards and tons of other fantastic stats that were taken away from an old man thatsc'v88
Ken Cranston But it's also good time to develop into the most skilled QB of all time.
Reporter:He has such a bad throwing technique
Aaron Rodgers: Ima end this mans whole career
Bob Bob he technically does. He uses all his arm. You don’t want to do that but he’s able to do it bc his arm is so talented. In QB mechanics you want to see them using their body to put momentum into the pass also.. Rodgers relies all on his arm. He also is careless with his left arm. They’d rather see him drive it inside towards his left hip so it forces his throwing arm high & like it should be. When he throws its close to sidearm.
Bob Bob you would NEVER teach Rodgers mechanics to a young QB.
josh903x ur a bandwagon
@@josh903x And yet, look at the success AR has with it. So perhaps not as much emphasis should be put on mechanics and more emphasis should be put on what he does with what he has.
@@fenner1986
Thing is
U can never predict a guy with a different technique to succeed like AR did
That's y front office mostly goes for safe route rather than a risky one
That's y u go for a traditional QB rather than AR type qb
It's not that easy to predict the future
ESPN is such a joke. They went from raving about Aaron in the beginning of the draft, then when he starts falling in the draft, they act like they expected it and now points out flaws that no one mentioned before. They're eating their words now...
Except that one guy who said Aaron Rodgers would fall to 24 11:54
They sure are. I remember when the whole Tim Tebow flash in the pan was on. He made the playoffs on a freak play, and then beat two teams by having to rely on his FG kicker from 50+. That's not clutch, sorry.
That next morning, Skip Brainless said "Look out Canton, here comes Tebow" when confronted about A.R who had a great game that same day. "He'll never last, he's a system QB with garbage receivers"

@@robj362 his 63 or some yard field goal stood for a good 8years or so
Its amazing how the sportscasters were so impressed with Aaron before the draft began, but as soon as teams started passing on him they started criticizing his ball positioning, technique, ability to throw the ball deep, not ready for the NFL level. Group think at its finest.
Right? So embarrassing
49rs scouts,gm on qbs mostly in those days ABSURD NO OTHER WORD
“And the packers proudly step to the podium and select the successor to brett farve.” And the rest is history. Insane.

I'm Out yeah he is a lot better. In every single stat
AML RMCF I wish I could like this comment a 100 times!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm Out you’re right he’s better than Favre
I love Rodgers’ mentality about the situation. He’s never lied about having wanted to be a 49er or his disappointment with the wait, but he’s always done his best with the hand dealt him. I think that’s his best trait.

Aaron in 2021: yeah you guys were absolutely right 😂
To be fair to Alex Smith, injuries and SF's terrible coaching ruined what could have been a much longer and more successful career.
@@Riley_Mundt
Alex should have excelled during the Harbaugh years then, but Colin Kap outplayed him.
It's really poetic and humbling to see Rodgers stay with the Packers for his entire career after he said he'd go to any team that wants him, and he's more then re-paid that faith.

@@JalenBrunson558 I mean the packers are kind of dipping on him lol

Then the Packers threw him away like trash. I get the feeling this is gonna be the beginning of a Boston Red Sox-like curse
As soon as Rodgers made that throw inside the tire and Alex Smith missed they should chose Rodgers right then and there 😂
It looked like Rodgers missed it. Just over the tire.
They both missed
Or they could have just watched his games
they both missed but Alex throw was horrible!
No one drafting him is gonna care if he threw it through a tire
You can tell at the start when Rodgers and Smith threw that ball up there at the tire who was better lol
Word is, Alex Smith actually asked if they could move the tire to "Check-down yardage". LOL
Exactly.. SMH

Glad Aaron has had an awesome career and continues to, and I'm glad Alex eventually came into his own. Was cool to spend my early teens up until today pretty much watching them both.
This was Ted Thompson's very first draft pick as GM of the Packers. This one pick and how he stood firmly behind Rodgers years later is Ted's entire legacy in Green Bay. Packers fans absolutely hated the pick of Rodgers and vilified Ted for it. When Ted stuck with Rodgers after Favre retired in 2008 and then un-retired, fans vilified him for not letting Favre back. He took a ton of abuse from fans over it and when Ted was ultimately be vindicated with the Super Bowl 45 win, and every single one of those fans who vilified him were completely shut up and Ted refused to take a victory lap at their expenbse when he had every right to. Starting with this pick, Ted extended the Packers run as Super Bowl contenders for another 16 years. Thank you, Ted. Rest in Peace.
That tire throw says it all..
Yup
C Trusz you know Rodgers over threw right? Close but not in
Evan H. You know Alex Smith was like 5 yards off right?
bobeezy he threw an ugly ball tho...
bobeezy but the throw ball was not a good throw who's gonna catch that? 😂
"He has flaws in the deep ball game, that doesn't translate well into the NFL." Omg the irony is making me sick in the stomach thinking of Alex Smith.
Haha, this comment is so glorious. The irony is almost hysterical.
was Alex Smith Bust don't see NFL since 2005
Mr checkdown was taken ahead of my deep ball.. because they were worried about mr deep ball throwing the deep ball..
hateUmankind how do you edit a comment in hopes of correcting it and still have it make no sense
Maybe this turned Rodgers into what he is today. Couldve motivated him to have a better stance and one of the quickest, smoothest releases ever.
RIP Ted Thompson. One of the packer great GMs.
“We felt Aaron would be better to start right away but in the long run Alex would be better” lol.
At least they were right about Alex Smith taking a while to develop, not that he’s better than AR
do you do stand up comedy? You're a funny guy.

Yup every year they act like they are so smart and very seldom are the right
Who else is watching this after Ted Thompson passed away today? Thank you Ted, for giving us Packer fans the privilege of watching one of the most talented QB’s ever lead our team 😢
Ted Thompson wasted Rodgers' career due to his staunch refusal to sign free agents. Rodgers should've more than 1 ring.
Ted Thompson was horrible for the packers. Packers front office has been the biggest enemy of the team for so long it's ridiculous. Not signing free agents or anything isn't how you build a championship team when lots of draft picks will be busts.
I'm glad at the end he went to the best team in the world , a team with the most beautiful colors , greatest football field and best fans , go Packers forever.
A team tht hasn't touched a Lombardi since Obama's first term😂😂😂😂😂
Packers wasted his career. Hope your bandwagon fans enjoy sucking for the next decade
I like the ending, "I thought I was the best thing since slice bread, and I needed a little bit of humble pie". He showed some character during the interviews too, I love this draft story.
I'm not even a Packers fan but i can't help but root for Rodgers... what a good dude, one of a kind... Live acoustic with no autotune. PEACE and RESPECT.
Rodgers is a class act and one of the most consciously intelligent players in the game. Took his lumps in stride and turned it into gold. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets another ring.
Aaron Rogers’s Agent looked different in the State Farm commercial 😂
Will Parker that’s back before he was burning towels in Rodgers bathroom😂😂

As a 49ers fan, I cannot believe we passed on Rodgers
It is more painful to pass on Brady.
@@binsun820 not really, statistics wise, Rodgers is better. Fastest QB to 400 TD’s this year, QB rating is the highest, of all time. If you put Rodgers on the Pats, they would probably have 8 rings being dead serious.
@@williamcharles587 I mean, not really, you half to consider that McCarthy was the definition of stale. His play calling was horrifically predictable and the amount of games that Rodgers has clutched shows he’s just as capable as Brady if not more. We’ll see with LaFluer, but with him Packers are way more dangerous it seems
@@williamcharles587 Rodgers is just as good under pressure though is the thing. The amount of teams Rodgers has stabbed in the heart has more than proven he’s just as cool under pressure. Besides, if you look at Brady, he relies on a system. He gets the ball and gets it out as soon as he can. It doesn’t make him bad, but he can’t usually keep a play going like Rodgers can. I’m not talking out of my ass, watch his film, then Rodgers.
You are absolutely right it’s not just playcalling, otherwise he wouldn’t have 6 rings, but when you look at just how bad McCarthy’s playcalling was in his final years at Green Bay. Yet despite that, and how horrifically predictable we were, he still led us to 12-4. Rodgers is more skilled. Whether it’s from film, or from pure statistics. Super Bowl’s mean nothing in this regard, otherwise no one would even mention quarterbacks like Dan Marino or Warren Moon.
"His sampling of deep throws down field were just not there".......... funny how things played out
Can't imagine how it feels when your team passed on both Brady and Rodgers
Hunter Brady wouldn’t be Brady if he got drafted by any other team. Belichick made him the qb he is
THOMAS CARTER L
I know people love the Tim Rattay narrative, but let's be real, by the time Brady could have started a game in SF, he already would have won 2 rings with New England. Not only that but he would face the same hell as Smith with constant offensive scheme changes and different coaching staffs. Like Thomas said Brady wouldn't be Brady without Belichick, if he somehow landed in SF during that time, the story would be way different.
Animelover123 that's not an L that's just a fact my guy
THOMAS CARTER you’re wrong. If you’re meant for greatness, you will be great no matter what.

bu...bu...bu.. they got a social justice icon who highlighted the plight of black Americans . The PR from that is incalculable!.
The only teams that passed on him was San Fran it's not like every team picked a quarterback
Yeah QB rookie contracts at the time were enormous for 1st rounders. If you didn't need need a QB you wouldn't pick one. Now that they aren't so expensive way easier to pick a QB 1st round to speculate on hoping they become the next Montana or what have you.
Dang tough call. Ive met Alex and super respect him. As a BYU fan I still really really like Alex. Both are awesome. Sometimes adversity makes the Man. Both have experienced it. @BJL , Yah but if I see two guys out in the street, out of their element. Hyped by the crowd and he hits dead on, didn't even touch the sides of the tire. Then the other guy doesn't even come close to making that throw. I'm going to pick the guy who can make that shot on the first go, without hesitation. I'm still pissed we didn't pick him.

He is cold as ice bro or as Stephen A says „He‘s a BAAAD man“ and one was able to see that right away, also in this throw;) Gotta love QBs with cold precision an the will to turn around games which are lost for nearly everybody.
From a Brady Fanboy :D
I think he may not have been the player he is today if he didn't sit on the bench for awhile on the Packers. While he was there, they adjusted the way he threw the ball so that he COULD throw it deep. Perhaps he wouldn't have been as good if he didn't have time to do that and to observe Favre before starting.
@BJL, maybe the scouts should look at the tire throws.

That one dude had him mocked to Green Bay is galaxy brained tho
Nobody ever knows and that's why I hate the draft and speculating.. it means nothing. Talk to me after 2-3 seasons and we'll talk how good a player so and so is
What makes it more confusing is depending on what team he goes to, especially QBs. I seriously think alot of good QBs out there are only "serviceable" because they're in a bad system.
i always love looking back on Draft mistakes. HIndsight is fun!! (GO PACK GO)
Who else is here watching this video as a GB fan hoping Jordan Love becomes in our new Aaron Rodgers? Almost the same Draft Story 🤷♂️
Except for the fact that Rodgers was predicted to maybe go number one overall and fell to the Packers at 24 on a silver platter. In contrast, the Packers traded up to pick Love who threw 17 interceptions last year and was no where near the best quarterback in the draft class.
Well, he made it to the playoffs in his first year as the main starter. Then wiped the floor with the cowboys at home when they were undefeated at home this season. I think he has a shot at being a really solid QB, but it's hard to know based on one season.
Just like Brady - use the disappointment as fuel to dominate

Nicholas Katsikas Yup. Other analysts think with their gut. He actually accounts for multiple logical variables.
Shut up mike i know this your burner acct
@@Mashukoria nah, it wasnt really 50/50. Its been documented that a lot of teams felt like Smith was a better player, including Miami and Tampa Bay. Smith was seen as a better player in college.
I bet 49ers regret that
trust me they regret brady way more then rodgers lol
@@chanceshankle1285 you're not lying. brady's far more valuable than rodgers! lol
Ok, I’m just gonna say this. Rodgers saying the niners regret drafting him back in 2005 hasn’t aged well since he’s 0-4 against em. Thinking this video hasn’t aged well for him as well
I think this video has aged just fine niners got Alex Smith while green bay lucked their way into a top 5 qb all time
Back again for my yearly draft tradition
R.I.P Cedric Benson
Josh Macejko texas legend forever
He died? Wtf when?
Garrett Chelberg like three weeks ago. Motorcycle accident i think, killed his girlfriend too. Really sad.
My heart sank when I heard his name
@@tylermorro1747 same man
10:00 this is the rare times when someone says "it's very humbling" in the correct context. often you hear someone use this phrase after they win an award for some reason which makes no sense.
Oh my word, thank you!!! That drives this grammar nerd crazy lol
Congrats to Alex Smith returning to the field. Love Rodgers but hope the best and most out of the rest of his career
At least he went to the Packers.
And now Aaron Rodgers is going to the hall of fame while Alex Smith may not. Aaron is much better now.
Lol Alex Smith "May"not. LOL Unless he comes up with 2 rings in the next 2 years, he's not coming close to the HOF
@@totalrobot The only way Alex Smith is getting into the Hall of Fame is if he buys a general admission ticket like the rest of the public
Babs Checkett May not? What has Alex Smith done to get into the HOF?? Lmao
Mike V led the 49ers to a super bowl against ravens. He would of won that game if he started. Colin kapernick is horrible doesn’t deserve a job
Bigcassady Tv sorry that didn’t happen, he lost his starting job halfway thru the season. I don’t like Kaep either but in 2012 he played well. And idk what universe you live in but you don’t get into the HOF for starting half the season on a team that eventually goes to the Super Bowl and loses. If that’s your only argument, you just helped prove my point.
I have to think it's some kind of cosmic justice that the 49ers would go from Joe Montana to Steve Young, only to miss on two of the greatest QBs ever who both had ties to California/the 49ers and both wanted to be drafted by them badly. I'm speaking of course of Tom Brady who grew up a die-hard Niners fan and huge Joe Montana fan, and A-Rod. It's ironic if nothing else.
Jacob Taylor definitely a weird universe we’re in
As a 49ers fan, it hurts to see this embarrassing choice from manager
Are you of course speaking of Brady and Rodgers? You're not smart, stop trying to talk like you are
It was a beautiful mystery, when AR fell to the Packers. By the way: The Ravens picked Ray Lewis one spot ahead of the Packers, when they wanted him. Go Pack
Even Parcells passed on Rodgers feeling great about his QB situation with Bledsoe starting and UFA Tony Romo on the bench, taking Demarcus Ware (very talented Edge).
*As a 49ers Fan i feel so bad for Aaron Rodgers for not being our QB when that was his dream, but yet im happy hes at least really High up there with the Packers*
IDABAYAREA650I no need to feel bad for him
Kevin Marroquin exactly, he won a Super Bowl and MVP, and still went in the first round!
As a Packers fan I'm glad you picked A. Smith 😂
Tom brady had the same dream
Aaron Rodgers would not have survived being on the 49ers as they hired a new OC every season from 2005-08, and not to mention those teams didn’t have a good line or WRs to speak of!
Come to think of it, it’s all the more amazing that Alex Smith had a decent career in KC after surviving that QB hellhole!
As a Packers fan I would like to thank all 21 teams that passed on Aaron Rodgers, and I wonder who the 49ers would pick now?
With their track record of bad decisions, they shouldn't get a pick! The 49rs fans ( if any are left), should start a union, and pick themselves!
as a cowboys fan, really want to see him win a superbowl again
lol aaron only won you one superbowl idk what there's really to thank for. what good is having an all time great QB if you don't win?
@@justingraul4823 winning superbowls is a team sport. We got the most talented qb to ever play the game.
@@justingraul4823 do u realize how hard it is to even get to a super bowl.
Its crazy how long it takes for most QB's to develop before they become upper tier QBs.
Smiths personal best season (from a stat standpoint) was 2017, 12-13 years after he was drafted.
