    You put so much love and care into your floral arrangement, and it shows in your finished product. This is what I was looking for, so thank you so much! I want to make my own so that it will be personal. I lost both of my parents, my sister, and my nephew within a few short years. I am so very sorry about your loss of your husband. Thank you so much! The vase I'm using to hold the arrangement while I'm working on it was given to me as a gift many years ago. Sorry, I don't know which store it came from. If you mean the vase that's shown in the photo at the very end, the one at the cemetery, this was part of the grave marker installation done by the cemetery. I don't even remember if I was given an option for the design of the cemetery vase back then, it's all a blur, but it seems that everyone at this cemetery has the same kind.

  • @karenlafave5892

    The vase I ordered is quite large and the foam is too narrow for it. How can I keep the foam from wobbling in the vase?

    • @mywidowedheart
      @mywidowedheart  Před 2 lety

      Depending on how much space there is in between, perhaps you could just wedge something between vase and floral foam. Maybe some extra foam or styrofoam pieces, or several thick sticks or dowels inserted vertically along the foam to make a tighter fit.
      If you happen to have a pool noodle hanging around, you could cut some "slices" off it and use those to add material in between.
      Another option might be to insert very sturdy toothpicks or short floral picks (just remove the wire) or something similar in intervals horizontally into the floral foam, kinda like branches coming out of a tree trunk at a right angle, like shown on this short foam insert:
      mywidowedheart.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/PSX_20220516_153318.jpg
      You'll probably have to play around for a bit to make it work. If you could, please let us know how you ended up solving the problem.

    Beautiful! Please tell me, I just lost my beloved husband and the tombstone was finally installed with its granite vase. Do I make the floral arrangement at home and then take it to the cemetery and put it in the granite vase. This is my first time doing this. I have been taking bouquets and just placed them on the grave,, but now the tombstone is finally installed. Where can I get that Styrofoam? Thank you so much for your tutorial you did a great job with the beautiful floral arrangement my dear. I did subscribe to your channel.

    • @mywidowedheart
      @mywidowedheart  Před rokem +1

      I'm so sorry for your loss. Yes, you would make the arrangement at home, then bring it there. But first you want to make sure that the foam insert will fit your vase (you may have to cut it to fit). I have a short video explaining all about the foam inserts, see link below. You should watch that first, please (and the other videos too), it will probably answer a lot of questions you have.
      You can buy the foam insert at craft stores like Hobby Lobby, Michaels, etc. or at Old Time Pottery, some Walmarts or Amazon.
      If your vase is right next to the tombstone (and I assume you mean the kind of tombstone that stands up, not laying flat on the ground) and is very close to it, you may have to take that into account for the width of your arrangement.
      Please watch my recent short video tutorials, they'll explain all the steps thoroughly:

      Oh,thank you so very much. I thought of measuring the granite vase. The vase was installed on the upper middle of the stone. It has my name there too except for my date of death. We made it a double depth for the two of us. I need to ask you, how long do artificial flowers last and when you take them out to put new flowers does the foam stay stuck inside or do they come out together with the flowers? I appreciate all your help and I most definitely will check out the links that you sent me. A million thanks and God bless you for all that you do. 🙏

    • @mywidowedheart
      @mywidowedheart  Před rokem +1

      @@Cassy84744 The artificial flowers should last a couple of months at least. It will depend on the kind of flowers, the weather, the season, etc. Some flowers will hold up better than others, but all of them will eventually fade. My arrangements usually look pretty decent for about 6 months or more. I've had some of them last for almost a year, but a few of them had to be replaced after only about 4 months or so. It just depends. It's also a matter of how new you want them to look. Personally, I don't mind if they're faded some as long as they still look okay otherwise.
      Each time you replace the flower arrangement, you'll need a new foam insert for the vase. It will come out together and you won't be able to reuse the old foam. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

    How do I know how many flowers to get? It’s the first time making one. I want it to look good. It’s for my husband too. 😢

    • @mywidowedheart
      @mywidowedheart  Před 8 měsíci +1

      I'm so sorry for your loss. How many flowers you should get depends on how you want your arrangement to look and how big you want it to be. Generally, if I do my focal flowers in 4 tiers, with the top tier being the tallest focal flower and the other three tiers having 4 focal flowers each, I would need 1+4+4+4=13. So if you use this method, you would need 13 focal flowers. Plus filler flowers and greenery like fern leaves for the bottom. When buying the flowers, I find it helpful to hold them like in a bouquet to see what it would look like and how full it looks. I suggest watching my short tutorial "Choosing Flowers for a Cemetery Floral Arrangement", the link is in the description box right below this video. I also recommend watching my video "DIY Cemetery Floral Arrangement," just go to my channel and you'll find it there, as well as other videos you might find helpful. If you can, I would buy more filler flowers than you think you need, it always amazes me how many I end up using. And if I don't use them all, I just hold on to them for a future arrangement. I'm sure your arrangement will turn out beautiful, and it will be made with love!
      Hugs,
      Daisy
