House music has always been the way to go when you want to jam, or relax, or just be free in your world. House just does not get enough exposure and it is a sad thing, because if you listen closely, house is in every peice of music we listen to. Grow up in Philly where it was the way of life. Living in Cali they just don't understand house like New York, Philly, Chitown, and D.C., the list goes on and on I sure miss any station that can relate to the sound. What happen XM/Sirus?

I’m from Cali but my family is all from Maryland (MD), NJ, the City…. I went to college in MD and you are right! We on the west coast didn’t get it and still don’t from House Music perspective. I used to make mix tapes and bring them back to Cali and jam them..
@@wwilliaml619 I’m from Australia but from a non-American perspective, its probably the north east population density that allows for a thriving club scene like NYC, Philly, NJ, Boston. Wherever the banging clubs are, the DJ’s will follow. House was never fully commercialised in the US so it was pretty underground, and you need people collaborating to make it work. West coast is just too sparse for something like that to thrive. Also don’t forget the heavy European influence (as well as short distance) of the North east as well. Heaps of House legends like Larry Heard, Frankie Knuckles, Phuture, Jesse Saunders etc were all going back and forth between US and Europe.
Cali has had it’s flavour of “EDM” for the last decade . I went to Coachella and a few other festivals on the west coast but you’re right, they just don’t get it.

What am i saying this is just a dream..We can only hold on to the good times we had in the 80's and 90's when house was unabled to be explained. You would dance you problems away and leave the club the next day feeling born again. Youth of today will never understand why you are smiling when u hear this.
Exactly. Old heads complain about house music not being played but they don't do nothing about it. My mom and dad played house music around me and I loved it since I was little. My two favorite ones are Marshall Jefferson's Move your body and fast eddie let's go. Also funny thing is that I'm a dancer and I know how to vogue. I learned it from my friend Ronnie. We would be at coney island and have a voguing battle lol.
As a fan of garage in all of its forms, it's cool to see records I loved in the 90's (still love them), played by someone who rocks some of the best soulful sounds of now. Connecting the dots like this shows how many of us feel this vibe throughout the years, through changes in styles and the coming and going of many genres. Much thanks for this mix.

Alright, dig this history lesson. House music was born in an underground club in Chicago's West Loop. The club was called "The Warehouse". The Warehouse was located near the Chicago & Northwestern train station and was an actual manufacturing warehouse before the building became abandoned and later renovated into a popular dance club during the early 1980's. The D.J.s who produced the first dance mixes ever also performed on the old WBMX radio station where House music received major airplay.
