    Dealer told me to do the first oil change at 10 hours. I do like this beast though. I have a terrible hill in my yard, so I understand fighting that. But I have a .5 acre yard, so I'm glad to have this 30" mower.

    I’m getting prepped to do the 8hr service on mine tomorrow, and have similar feelings . It’s a beast with some quirks, but no regrets. Thanks for posting.

    I had my grandpa get the mower since I take care of his yard work. He gad two mowers and we both wanted to have just one to lower maintenance costs some. He has about 1/2 acre for sure.
    If I could do it again, I may pass on this mower. I love the made in USA stuff and fell for the quality. But now I'm just hoping I don't have the issues others have. My dealer is 30 miles away and Scag seems hit and miss on support. This mower needs some Improvements, mostly weight and a drive system overhaul similar to what the SFC 21 has, which I own. Also larger diameter rear wheels may help it from getting stuck as much which is common for me.

      Do you have any problems with the sfc 21?

    • @CodyH88
      @CodyH88 Před 6 měsíci +2

      @@daryldaryl887 Honestly, the SFC 21 mower has been far better and easier to manage. If you ever get one(assuming you haven't purchased a scag) be sure to check the manufacturer date. I didn't and was sold a 2021 SFC 30 when I bought last year. Scag made a few upgrades in 2022 but probably not enough to make the mower much better. I reached out to the dealer and company but they basically said tough luck, so that sucked.
      But if you wanted a SFC 21, my advice is wait a few months to see if they upgrade that unit anymore. According to the dealer and scag themselves, they release new models in late spring, early summer. Just check the website and call a local dealer of Scag.
      Given Scag just released the SFC 21 last year, it might have and improved feature or two. Overall, I like the 21 really well and don't see much to worry about, in terms of changing it.

    Nice! 👍 I have a 2022 fixed wheel SFC-30 I also use for a 1/2 acre home. I love it so far.
    Let me ask you have you ever had to adjust the PTO clutch or had any problem with it not engaging or being stuck? I’ve heard about the update that Scag retrofitted for the PTO clutch on this model.
    Mine is like yours as far as the pto clutch . I have 35 hours on mine, and I noticed today that the PTO engagement for the blades got really loose. I popped the cover and it looked like the pulley was just bouncing around a little bit.
    Anyhow, good video.

    How would one go about changing the blades on this? Does it tip up to 90 degrees on its back?

    • @ChazNosloc
      @ChazNosloc  Před 3 měsíci

      Changing the blades is pretty easy. I lift the lawnmower to the highest cut setting, which makes the lawnmower pretty high. And then I just tip it back on to the push handle and it stays up. I was able to use a battery impact wrench to remove and install the blades. One thing I particularly like about this mower is that the blades are not synced, so you don’t have to worry about the position of the blades when you put them back on.

      You are correct the Kohler manual does not specify how much oil it takes. It does say to fill the oil to the top of the oil dipstick indicator. I started with half a quart and checked it and then I just kept adding until I was comfortable where it was full.

      It seems to be marketed as a "commercial-grade" but certainly targeting home use as well, according to SCAG site,
      "FINISH CUT WALK-BEHIND
      Welded and fabricated using military-grade steel for years of dependable performance, the SFC-30 Finish Cut Walk-Behind Mower is no pushover. Packing big productivity and versatility into a compact form, this commercial-grade machine delivers a beautiful, professional quality-of-cut, helping you put the finishing touches on the job or at home."
      As a homeowner, I too am leaning towards this SCAG vs the TimeMaster.

      @@quadb3212 I have had one for about two years. Overall, its just too heavy. I get they want to make it last but I bet the composite deck on my Honda will last just as long. Becasue the Skag is so heavy, it works you out especially in tight quarters. I have the swivel wheels up front, I never disengage because then the mower won't track as well. If you have large open areas which can only be accessed through a gate, its ok. But if you have smaller backyard and have lots of maneuving to do, go with he Honda. The Skag cuts nice, can power through wet stuff if it has to , but it could have been made much better. Lighter deck, a variable speed lever like the Honda, and an adjustable chute would be nice. I should mention I am a homeowner. If I had to use the Skag all day, I'd quit my job.
