Ich schieß den Hirsch - Deutsches Jägerlied

Das Jägerlied ,,Ich schieß den Hirsch" wurde 1826 von Franz von Schober, unter dem Titel ,,Jägers Liebeslied", textlich veröffentlicht. Das Gedicht wurde dabei mehrfach vertont. So beispielsweise im Jahre 1827 von dem berühmten deutschen Musiker und Freund des Dichters, Franz Schubert (op.96 Nr.2, D 909).
Der Ursprung der Melodie der vorliegenden Fassung, und ihr Komponist, ist leider nicht überliefert. Möglicherweise stammt sie aus Siebenbürgen.
Gespielt wurde das Lied von Blasorchester Mit Chor.
Das verwendete Bild ist ausschließlich ein Symbolbild und soll den entsprechenden Zeitgeist widerspiegeln!

The hunter's song "Ich schieß den Hirsch" was published in 1826 by Franz von Schober under the title "Jägers Liebeslied". The poem was set to music several times. For example by the famous german musician and friend of the poet, Franz Schubert (op.96 No.2, D 909) in 1827.
The origin of the melody of the present version, and its composer, is unfortunately unknown. It may have originated in Transylvania.

1. I shoot the stag in the green forest, the deer in the deep woods,
the eagle on the cliff's eyrie, the duck on the lake;
no place that can give shelter where my rifle aims!
And yet I, hard man, have felt love too.
2. I often camp in wintertime in storm and weather night,
covered in branches and snow, I made the stone my bed;
I slept on thorns as on fluff, untouched by the north wind
and yet I, hard man, have felt love too.
3. The wild falcon is my companion, the wolf my warhorse;
the day begins with the barking of dogs, the night with huzzahs;
Instead of flowers, a fir-tree ornament adorns my sweat-stained hat
and yet love beats in my wild hunter's blood.
The song was performed by Blasorchester Mit Chor.
