This is the most excellent tutorial I have found, and I have searched for a tutorial for months already! Thanks for this guide; it helped me a lot! You save a soul! I´m genuinely thankful to found you!
You're very welcome and thanks so much for watching and liking the video
This tutorial allows you to understand in a simple and detailed way how Dataverse works in relation to the main objects used for a Power Apps application. It offers a true performance. Thank you very much
Perfect intro video for relationships for where I'm at currently with Powerapps/Dataverse. Thank you!
Hi Reza, great video as always. Having read alot of the MS docs and watch many videos in prep for moving from sharepoint to DV, this was by far the most helplful, clear and easy to follow. I now need to go back to my ERD and remove most of the autonumber id columns (for use as FK). Keep the videos coming!
Much appreciated to have such complex dilemma as a training dummy. This helps a lot in understanding complexity of the process strucutre.
Perfect video to cover all concepts of dataverse with practical scenario.
Thanks a lot for sharing these concepts in one video
Reza, you are fantastic! I have learned so much by watching and mimicking your videos that I am gaining more confidence in creating a usable app for my organization, daily. Thank you so much for sharing your expertise in such a user-friendly way.
Great video. It showcases Dataverse and Power Apps, and how quickly apps can be built, really well. Thanks Reza :)
This video has wide opened my mind to dataverse & Power Apps.

Thank you.
Exactly the reason why I made this video. Thank You for the awesome feedback.
Was looking to refresh my skills on relationships in Dataverse to help me in an upcoming project so came searching in your channel and this video has done just that. Thanks again sharing.
Thanks Reza! The video was very clear and helpful! Hopefully more tutorials on Dataverse. I get stuck with the Model-driven apps. Are you going to make video tutorials about Model-driven apps in the future? Thanks again.
Reza, once again, this video has given me lots of new ideas for future apps I'm gonna develop for my company using Dataverse for Teams. I can't thank you enough for your great work and contribution.
Wow! This changes everything on how the most efficient way to build powerful apps . Thanks Reza - you explained this concept really well.
Wow. What i have to said about this. It's just amazing. It's loud and clear. Easy to follow. I'm not afraid anymore about Dataverse...I' still afraid about the cost of the licencing that is why I prefer to use Dataverse for teams for the moment. Thanks a lot reza

Reza. You are my goto for all of my PowerApps challenges and education. Thank you! 🙏
Thank you. Very well explained. They are near to real time applications and helping a lot.
Thank you Reza. Your video has made it look so easy. Super helpful as always.
Thanks once again for this video. Advising clients to leverage dataverse is no longer an issue for me
Excellent Video. Thanks! Very clear presentation on the logic and workflow.
I spent days and hours trying to find a tutorial video showing exactly what you have. This is genuinely a brilliant video. Thank you.
Walking through it again with Powerapps open on the other screen. 😊
Do you have a recommendation which video I should watch next to work on aesthetics when I get it built?
@RezaDorrani thank you.
I have a query please. I set my tables up with unique identification fields (Primary keys). When I am pulling the data into the Dropdowns, it is showing the ID field instead of the project name. Can I display the name field, or must I delete the ID field. I know you mentioned that Dataverse/power apps creates the master and foreign and builds the relationship itself, but when I did this sort of thing many years ago in access, I could create a relationship on the key field and display another field in the related table.

Every time I watch one of your videos, I'm very thankful for how clear and detailed you present the information in such bite-sized chunks that can be easily digested by my brain. Thank you for that.
I'm going to be migrating our company from SharePoint to Dataverse and I need some graphics that relay the benefits, which, in turn, justify the added expense for licensing. Is there any way to get the introductory 5 minutess of this video in slideshow/presentation format so I can present it with my other slides that are specific to our company needs? I would just show your video, but I'm positive that it will be difficult to keep people engaged for 5 min, and I just need the graphics so they have it on paper.
Please disregard my request, Reza. I went to your blog and found the presentation link in it. I absolutely love the way you openly share your knowledge with the rest of the world!!!
Thanks a lot Reza! I always learn something new & tricky from your videos.
Your videos are always very helpful and are the reason that I have been able to develop a working app for my team.
I have almost similar scenario for which I am developing an App but looks like I am missing something and not able to move forward.
Here is the scenario :
We have #50 customers and #25 Tools and multiple implementation state for each tool.
For each customer we want to know the status of every tool. Example,
For customer A, Tool-1 is implemented but
Tool-2 is in POC state whereas
Tool-3 - POC Cancelled.
So this way, For each customer, we will have #25 entries (#25 tools) and every entry will capture implementation status of respective tool for that customer.
That means, total 50*25 = 1250 entries which will be stored in either sharepoint or excel or dataverse for teams.
I want to build a Power App using which I can retrieve data from datasource-->Filter data for each customer so on a single page I am able to see tool name & implementation status of all the tools for Customer A ---> Edit those records and then save back to the datasource.
Your guidance on this will be helpful.
Thanks,
Ashish.
Thanks for watching and liking the videos.
SharePoint and Dataverse support delegation. Both should work for your scenario.
@@RezaDorrani : Thanks for the response! Actually the issue is - I am unable to fetch all records for a customer in editable. I used table but that fetches all the records and if I try to filter it based on customer then nothing shows.

Great content Reza. I learnt a lot from you. I would request you to also make videos on PowerApps Portals.
There will be a LIVE Power Apps Portals session on my channel in 2 weeks time.
Thank you Raza. Your video is very useful, and helps me to learn different platforms much easier. While working in sharepoint and Power Apps the value for ID column upon add, edit and delete operations, we have to add more logics. Also at the SP list side the value for ID column was in incremental order so there was no way for me to reset before going live(after development). In dataverse after watching your video, I get a feeling its not a problem. I also noticed the update operations are very quick.
@@RezaDorrani I do have an question.. i created a table(say Masterdata) in Dataverse the values in it gets refreshed daily from a sharepoint list and I do have another table(transactiondata) in Dataverse I am having one column(proj name) where it uses values from master table. awesome video Reza!!! Clearly the one I was looking for. I have a question, I tried to do the same, created couple of tables and linked them through lookup columns but when I patch the data, in the dataverse table it's not visible however if I use a gallery to pull up the data it's coming visible. What could be the reason for it that I can't see the lookup column filled data in Dataverse table?
I will have to look at your App in action to provide guidance. My guess is something is not right in the way you are setting the default value of lookup column. I would recommend posting your issue/query with screenshots on the forums at powerusers.microsoft.com
Amazing video! I was wondering if you have made a video that shows how to make the other screens such as the Accounts screen and Client screen.
Reza, quick follow up question if I may. When you do a lookup column it gives you the value that is in the primary name colmn in the table you are looking up. Thats ok but what if that table were a user table where names are not unique, if I give it an autonumber as the primary name column it then makes it impossible to know which record I am looking up. I have tried to change the display in a drop down to show the name rather than the ID but no luck. Is there a way around this or is it just one of those things?? Many thanks in advance
I have not tried that scenario so not 100% sure. I will recommend checking on the forums at powerusers.microsoft.com/ in case someone has done something similar.
Reza. I love your content!!! Tell me how can i support you? You solved all my power apps issues so far. Love from Slovenia
thanks, Reza how do I deploy the flow with premium connectors in power automate when a client wants to be running the flow in their systems, what is a suitable license I should prefer/suggest to them (client)... can you please explain it
Thanks for this tutorial - i've setup a similar app where i have a gallery on screen 1 and on screen 2 i have the edit form and a gallery to the related table, and a form for the related table. However when adding a record to the related table i seem to have to trigger refresh statements to get the related table gallery to show the new item but in your demo you seem to not have that problem ?

Hi Reza, another great video. I have watched and learnt from many of your videos, and implemented what I have learnt. The next step on my journey is into Dataverse for Teams. I am looking to create an asset management tool where I can assign users to particular assets, such as laptops or phones. However, I need to be able to record the assignment history. So I can check who has been assigned a particular device since it's purchase, or what devices have been assigned a particular user since they joined us.
Do you have a video or guidance on how to create such a history log table in Dataverse?
Thanks... and looking forward to the next videos :)

Thanks Reza, do you think that if we have SQL server database as ERP software we can synchronize data true the 2 system?
Very very helpful for me Thanks Reza Could you please Explain Multiple Attachment with the SharePoint document library and Project table

I was struggling understanding how we can work with form its amazing video i will work on it but again i would like to know how we can work with functions
Not sure what I am missing or if I am using too much Excel brain. I would like to create a lookup eg from a product table to an order table. When I select the product it will populate the order. How do I get it to bring over the price from the product table though? I can calculate the totals in the order using a calculated column, but I cannot seem to "call" the price value based on the product selected as an additional column.
It should be available through intellisence. I would recommend posting your issue with screenshots on the forums at powerusers.microsoft.com
Hi again Reza... Another question. I have a gallery that I would like to filter (without using startswith). The gallery uses a dataverse table but the fields I would like to search are linked via relationships. ie the product is from a lookup and the description comes from that relationship. The fields show in the gallery as subsets of the InventoryProduct record. If I build a filter as Filter(INVENTORYTABLE,StartsWith(InventoryProduct.'Product Code',TextInput3.Text)||StartsWith(InventoryProduct.'Product Description',TextInput3.Text)), then it works, however I want to be able to search for characters anywhere in the fields instead of the start. I think that "SEARCH" is what I need as removing "startswith" breaks the filter function. However search doesn't show the "Description" field as its not present in the "InventoryProduct" table. (Perhaps I need to bring in that data somehow so that it exists in the inventory table although this seems like superfluous data)
I believe your findings are right. Search function is limited in terms of column types. I have not tried this scenario though.
I will recommend checking on the forums at powerusers.microsoft.com/ in case someone has done something similar.
Thank you for this awesome video! I do have a question, for the N:N relationship where you assigned multiple team members, where is the data being written to? I have done something similar but I can't find the supporting data for up. Thanks
All data is stored in Dataverse.

I have 2 list that I had created in SharePoint
Tasks and Actions (Task and subtask)
I had a field in the Actions field name RefID which was the Task ID to keep them connected
I'm trying to move over everything to dataverse. I think I'm getting it...somewhat. If I wanted to go create a view to show all of the Actions related to the selected task, how would the view know which fields were related?
That part I'm confused about and maybe it's much simpler than what I'm imagining.
Hey Rez- great video. Throughly enjoyed it. Was wondering though: how did you insert the icons into the respective galleries. I really like that look and was wondering.
Hi Reza, Great demo. Loved it. Though I come from SharePoint background, I can build this completely with Lists. Users can view all the data easily as well from those lists.
What advantage do we get with Dataverse? To view row wise data, users would have to go to Dataverse?
Thanks Reza. At company that I work environment space is available with restrictions, so I can't create new tables as your example. Do you know if it is possible to do something similar using tables available ?
No access, no tables. You could do this with existing tables but you would not be able to update the schema.
Curious - after presenter reassigns project clients, the projects still show client Contoso for Lab Admin 1 (@9:19 in) but Techno, the reassigned client, for Reza Dorrani (@9:31 in).
I don’t remember the specifics of the video. The list of team members in the left is all users not a filtered view.
Hi Reza, I'm planning out how to build an end-to-end job management system for a client. Initially it will need to handle purchase-and-resale of IT hardware stock. I'm not sure whether to build this upon Dataverse in Teams, Dataverse, Azure SQL database or Azure Data Studio.
The first use (stock resale) will be used by only one person (in one team in Teams) but if it is built out to a full Job Management system then this will have users in multiple Teams. Does this affect the choice of data storage?
Dataverse for Teams has limits.
Dataverse is scalable.
You can start with Dataverse for Teams and then scale to full Dataverse if the need arises.
Interesting video - I guess primary and foreign keys are no longer needed to be declared in Dataverse.
Normally I would use an autonumber ID column
Reza, I cannot create a table from a Dataverse table like users and change the name to Project. It then takes over the name of the original Dataverse table called users. Also, I do not have the same UI you have. Dataverse is no longer even listed in Power apps. Does this training have to be updated? I thought it might be because I had the Admin Center settings changed to the Solution options and turned those off but It stayed the same which is probably my version is later than the one you used for the video.
Create a table from a table?
Users is an inbuilt table. You need permissions to do things in Dataverse.

Hi Reza,
Thanks for the video and explaining it very clearly.
Although it is an example I have a question related to relation between tasks and users, the users should be visible from projects table instead of directly from Users table.
hey Reza, are this concepts applicable to virtual tables in dataverse, as well ? relate, and parent relationship property navigation?
Thanks Reza for all your content on Power apps. I am developing a similar screen but with my own tables. I have used collection as a datasource for the main gallery. On adding or removing items to my relationship table by Relate/Unrelate my main gallery and neither the names list gallery gets updated. Hi Reza, I'm trying to acomplish the many to many behavior in an app.
I have created a "Projects" form. Added a custom datacard with a combobox of "Team Members"
On the "onSuccess" event of the form, I'm trying to loop "forAll" CmbTeamMembers.Selected and for each one relate to the Project.
In summary is the same situation you are doing in this video but trying to do everything in one step in the creation of the Project.
Here comes the tricky part. When I create a New Project ("NewForm"), It does not work (no team member association), no matter what. When I select the "created" project with empty team members, edit and save ( run the same code again in the onSuccess)... works like charm.
Is there any limitation to do this when creating an item ????

Amazing job. Are we still not able to save a multi selection comb box that's also a lookup column? It works in SharePoint, but not in Data verse. Thank you very much.
@@RezaDorrani Thanks again for your reply. This answer below was from 2020.(from David Jennaway) "No, this is not possible in CDS. There are a few exceptions for the built-in email and appointment entities, which allow multiple lookup values for certain fields (e.g. 'to', 'requiredattendees'), but you can't do this for custom fields or entities.
The main workaround is to create a N:N relationship between the entities, rather than a lookup (which is an N:1 relationship)"
