Am I the only one who LOL when daddy tried to clear Evelyn's door for her and it ended up on her... the look she had was so adorable! And the intro was breathtakingly beautiful... I wish we could get some of that in HI.
I love your videos I found you guys after my mom passed I was in such a dark place I gave up on God and you guys brought me back to God I started praying again.

Hehe 😂😂😂
I so Agree love snow❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️🤣
Hi please talk about your emergency pack that Alaskans keep in their cars.
Alaskans or at least ->This Alaskan, we keep the same normal things as most people, jumper cables, snow scrapers, tire patches, things like that small tool kit, hats, blankets, water, I'm a mama of 5 so half my trunk is Set up in case of breaking down or getting stuck during winter in like a car accident. Snacks for the kids. That's a good video idea tho. Have a great night. Sending hellos from Anchorage Alaska
Tschandra Heinze
What emergency pack. Most Alaskans have very little because they are rather tough.
its not about beeing Tough it's about being prepared and smart specially with kids.
Please discuss this. I live in the SE and we get winter "real winter" maybe once every couple years. I have no idea what to keep in my car. Too me some things might seem excessive!!
@@iceman5891 so being tough keeps you from freezing to death at 40 below?
I just discovered this wonderful family in Alaska on CZcams and have been watching episode by episode of their struggles...happiness...and their ability to care about so.many people ..God has blessed you all and I feel the same...I am so blessed to see this adventure in your lives with a family with a great sense of humor and strong Christian background and the know how on how to raise the most adorable and entertaining children I have seen in a long time...you welcome us into your home and life and it is such a warm and loving gesture and I know that I will enjoy everything yet to come...I love you guys and you all are in my prayers as you tackle Alaska and your businesses ....family and everything in between....God bless you....Susan ..(Greenville SC USA) 🥰❤️
The opening scene is so beautiful
My twins (now 18 and young men) have always loved FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT....Guess what time permitting THEY STILL DO!!!! Even at their age, with friends and school and jobs they still live it. I am beyond grateful for those memories.(so are they)
I agree 100% we MUST make that time priority.....we only get them for so long!
Keep up the great work. LOVE y'alls videos. 💛 From Florida
If you refinance your house, save that extra money and use it to buy a whole house generator. My mom was out of power for over 2 wks due to a bad ice storm. But for now fill 5 gallon buckets with water so that you can flush toilets. We are also on a well and gave a regular gas generator (bigger than yours that we can hook up to the main power line after turning off the master breaker if needed). We will use as few lights as possible and will hook up the freezer for an hour or so and then the fridge. You can also cook on your gas grill. If it's really cold you can take stuff out of the fridge and put them in ice chests filled with snow.
For water ... check out a WaterBob. Put it in the tub and make a 100 gallon storage container.
I always watch your channel when I wake up here in the UK with my coffee before I start the day. It gives me such a good feeling watching your lovely family, and it's a great way to start the day. Will definitely be ordering myself one of the hats when they come out. I kept meaning to ask you where your hat was from and then you said it was your own and I was so excited! xx
This whole country needs to know how to prepare for an emergency right now. PLEASE enlighten us!!!! Love your channel!!!!
@Brenda Hurtt when you’re hungry and desperate, you’ll eat anything. Prep anything you can within your means.
We just came out of a blizzard here in Saskatchewan Canada. We’ve been snowed in for two days. Snow plows are working night and day to dig us out. These guys are amazing! I’m thankful. I love where I live.❄️💙❄️
I remember as a girl my maternal grandparents didn't have hot water in their house yet and this was the late 1970s, they didn't get it until the early '80's. My grandma raised 6 kids with no hot water, so bath and dish water was warmed on the stove top. So, if our power went out and we had to run our generator (it's similar to yours) we wouldn't have to hook up the hot water heater. There are ways to get hot water without the hot water heater. :) Take care!
It's really suprizeing how people who live in environments that r harsh how naighbors and other members of community is there for each other be it plow out or hand getting wood n ect . I've always been blessed in living small community where people really care for each other . What a blessing .
The beginning of this vlog is amazing. I thought man, it feels like walking in a winter wonderland. When it's hurricane season for us Texans, my parents made the smart decision to get a generator back when I was in middle school (a good 15-20 years ago). There was few times where we had to use the generator to help power the fridge and few other things.
In addition to the generator, if you look up Solar Generators. Such as a Goal Zero Yeti, they come in different sizes. Basically it's a big battery that you can run appliances on. Something like a fridge or freezer. If you lose power for an extended time, you can use solar panels or your gas generator to run appliances in the day and charge your Solar Generator and then run appliances off the Solar Generator at night. You would need to look into the wattage requirements. But, it is a cheaper option than buying a whole house generator and the fuel necessary to run it.
Two of my Dads favorite expressions were, "I've worked hard, it's time for McDonalds." And "If lunch isnt ready, I'm going to McDonalds."
For us growing up in the 70s and 80s, McDonalds was a huge treat!!
Made me cry when Bert was talking about it was time to go to McDonalds!!
Keep making wonderful memories!!
My Dad is in Heaven now and I'm missing him a bit more today!
So is my Mom!!
I was literally just hoping you were going to post tonight just a moment ago, and then my notification pops up! Love it 🤗
Same same. 😊😊
Awe love that!!!
Watching your family gives me a sense of peace and hope during these times. You are such a blessing, so thank you ❤🙏
The snow is so beautiful to look at, Gary and I look forward to watching your videos, you're videos is so lifting, and encouraging , you are such fun people
Wow, so much snow!
So good to watch this wholesome content first thing early in the morning!
I am so glad I’m not the only one who wears her hat inside, all the time.
Blessings from Oregon ❤️
A good emergency car kit for alaska includes: Flares, an extra blanket. Always bring good warm boots and snowsuits kept in the car just in case of a break down at 40 below. Jumper cables. A lighter and pack of matches. Water. Granola bars. Jerky. A knife. Seatbelt cutter should be kept under the front seat. Flashlight. A battery pack and charger for cell phones. A Delorum if your in a poor cell service area. Some areas have no cell service at all and that can be very dangerous in the winter if you break down in a less trafficked area.
I remember in the early 90s we had a 4 day outage here in the valley. Young, two littles at home, we melted snow and bundled up. We didn’t have a wood stove back then either. Small home at the time. But my Jack if all trades hubby, kept us warm, he had all the emergency things to survive an Alaskan outage in the middle of winter! Funny how FBX and North Pole don’t get huge amounts! Boy we do! That’s why we have a full plow, always had for 30 years. And he plows everyone out. Good men.
Hello from a hurricane-prone area! My Dad wired an 11,000-watt portable generator (dual fuel - gasoline or propane, electric start) to his house. It'll run the lights, fridge, hot water tank, and stove. Basically, everything except the central air conditioning. The well has its own 5500-watt generator. We usually keep non-ethanol gas on hand at all times - it can always go into our cars. Gas lines can be up to 2 miles long here after a storm. Portable battery packs for charging phones is pretty handy. The longest we've lost power is over 3 weeks post-Katrina. Tropical storms can knock out power for about 3 days.
Bert is so knowledgeable I learn a lot from him. Jess is always so happy and makes me smile.
What a fun video to watch. Maybe not fun for y’all but I’m in Texas, so we will never see snow like that. If we get 1-2 inches at one time, everyone panics and cleans off the shelves at the grocery store. Thank you for all you do to serve others. What a refreshing spirit in these times of chaos. You glorify our Savior!!
Blessings go out to you guys... I was just wondering if you guys could pray for my family my 97 year old grandpa is very sick and in the hospital... I really appreciate the prayers thank you... God bless you guys and your family hope all is well hope you guys are staying happy healthy and safe
God bless your grandpa! ❤🙏❤
My daughter just turned 21 and she still will ask to have a movie night❤️
You raised that girl right
Sherry Irwin mine too ! she’s about to graduate college but she acts 12! 🇬🇧🇺🇸❤️
Holy cow, happy peoples!! When winter comes to Alaska, it comes full throttle. I thought your first snow would melt, and things would look gray and barren for weeks before winter got serious. But NO. Full throttle, no holds barred. Yikey!!!!
I grew up in Kansas so I’m very familiar with ice, snow and cold but I’ve also been wheelchair bound my entire life and doesn’t mix well with ice or snow. I now live in Phoenix and do not miss it at all. If I ever do want to see the changing colors of the trees in the fall or even the snow I just have to go north a couple hours then when I’ve had enough I’m not to far from the warmer weather.
brenda baird hello
Watching this after my Haematology exam. Such a good way to wind down from all the anxiety. Thank you so much for just being you. Love watching your family adventures.
I never thought much about power outages til mine was out for 5 days after major storms. This is really unusual for my area. I got very creative & much more thankful for having electricity.
Here in South Florida, after a hurricane we can easily be 15 days without power.
Good Luck . Hilda. stay safe. We are getting lots of rain and wind here in Orlando too.
I am in Palm Beach Gardens Florida we got a lot of wind and rain but we are good!
Praying for the power guys to come visit you soon. I'm from Louisiana, need I say more?
Been there - done that - it is awful with no power in the dead of summer.
@@susiessoapstuff1459 Amen sister ... Lafayette, LA here. Can't believe what happened to Lake Charles.
It is so beautiful. I love walking at night when it snows.
I just love love love your family. Thanks for making me smile. Stay safe and warm.
I live in a rural area of northern az. We had our first snow the other night, loved it. We are off the grid, solar, wind and have a large generator for when there is no sun to fill the batteries. Its wired into the house so we just flip a switch in the house. We never known when the electricity is off in town. I feel blessed to live off grid. Love your channel, it's so wholesome.
Evelyn has so many talents. Each of your children are unique and beautiful. They reflect their parents. May God bless, protect and cover you in all situations.
I live in a 200 yr old farm house and heat/cook/bake with a woodstove- also have a privy (indoor outhouse) in the attached barn- if electricity goes out, i can make do fine- i just tape the frudg and freezer shut and work on my shelf stable pantry- stay safe and well everyone and thanks for sharing!
I’m a newbie around here.. I’m LOVING your channel! It’s my dream to live in a snowy and cold location. Thank you for sharing your family and the beauty around you!
Your ariel shots above all those snow covered trees and the house is LIFE! It's magical. I live vicariously through you! Thanks for all the hard work!
I'm glad to see that you have prepared with backup it's a great idea . After Iowa's inland hurricane this summer and having no electricity on average for 10 to 14 days long term is not a bad idea , never thought we would have it here in our state like that.
You guys are the best! Have fun in the beautiful snow!
We just had our home set up so we can use our generator. It’s not a whole house, but we can run our well pump, or lights, refrigerator and freezer.
Not the heater, but we have a fireplace. Makes life so much better. Just had a major ice storm here in Oklahoma and was without power for 7 days.
Happy Monday, Somers. I hope you’re having a safe day. And Yes in deed, Somers, the Alaska winter storm has arrived. I hope you Somers stay safe in the winter storm. As a former Fairbanks Alaska resident in my own right, I dealt with the winter storm for Two decades. I hope you Somers stay safe in the winter storm. Oh, and btw, congrats on 160k subscribers. Continue on your road on getting that Giant Gold Play Button.🥰🙏🏾⭐️
God bless you guys...all that snow so pretty but so inconvenient, love to all of you
I think you guys are doing the right thing. God bless you all!!
I love that amount of snow 'cause I get out the snowshoes. So much fun and cardio.
Omg! That looks crazy but amazingly beautiful. I really enjoyed your videos, very informative.
LoL I love it when it snows like that, I remember the winter of 93/94 very little snow people had their septics pumped during the summer so the ground froze and septic tanks popped up out of the ground it was like -50 for couple of weeks it was cold, I worked for Everts air cargo back then.
I remember when the power was out for a day because of ice on the power lines.
You guys are really making me homesick LoL.
It’s crazy driving in Anchorage! Thank you for cleaning the snow off of your truck and not blinding the drivers behind you! 😊
Omg to me this is absolutely magical , I love it ! Stay safe I’m glad the power was out for only 3 hours x x
Omg I love the snow!❄❄ Thank you for sharing your day with us. I can't wait to order a hoodie😄
Beautiful snow but I could never deal with your bitter cold weather...I live in northern Virginia and it was 77 degrees yesterday & will be in the mid 70’s again today...love your channel & I have been a loyal viewer for forever !
Every since 2012 when we had a week long power outage. I have always had a whole home generator. Currently right now I have a generac generator. It nice, I can run everything on it.
Your family movie night efforts will be rewarded!!!!! Our oldest 17, and our youngest 14, LOVE!!!! Movie night 🤗
I love the snow. looks like a Christmas card.
Generators are so helpful We gotbours as an immediate necessity this year after a storm. Ten days without power. A life saver. Love the snowfall. A great video.
We save our science for summer for that very reason! LOL no flowers, few birds and its cooooolllldddd and snnnoooowwwyyy here in Wisconsin too!! Hugs Somers! We love ya!!
God Bless your family...you have to be built a certain type a way, for endurance.
You have every right to brag Jessica, how flipping nice & considerate Bert is. He seriously is the nicest guy around. You sure have a winner.
Greetings from South Africa
I love it when you are driving around and are showing the different stores you have up there. Keep it up. I love to check out the price of gas up there. It's about $1.84 @ gallon in west central Ohio.
I just bought a Honda 3000is for my parents. Spendy small generator BUT it has an inverter so is good for electronics, has an electric start (good if you are old), and is very fuel efficient. I can remember a big blizzard (probably 10 years ago) where electricity was out for 1-2 weeks even in towns. That meant pumps at fuel stations didn’t run...so people were running out of fuel...so a really fuel efficient generator became a must for me.
I've lived off grid in Trapper Creek Alaska for 22 years now. My troy built 3500watt ran my cabin for 10 years. I ordered cheap solar panels from harbor freight and now I can get internet access. I still run a generator in winter when the clouds won't give us a break. I have a 2600watt Yamaha now because of the 3 year warranty. My sister ran hers(same generator as mine) for 4 years daily!!! All day everyday. You can buy nice gas pumps now on the internet that transfers the fuel from can to tank without the spillage. They are easy to use and only need a couple of batteries to run it.
Watching y'all slogging through all that snow, and I had to go check our current temps here in Houston, Texas. 70 degrees at 10pm. Tomorrow's high is 82. And there you are, hip deep in snow.
Oh, and gulf coast folk know generators are key to surviving hurricane season. Just had subdepression Theta form in the Atlantic, so we're not in the clear yet. We have a window a/c for one of our rooms. Gennie is good enough to power everything except the central a/c, but relief from the heat is critical here. We were 3 weeks without power after hurricane Harvey, 2 weeks without after Rita, and even lost power for 3 days after tropical storm Imelda last year. Gotta be ready for the long haul.
Winter wonderland 😍 absolutely gorgeous that snow!!!
We have a whole house generator that my husband felt was a must-have. Early on living in our neighborhood, the power went out often for what seemed like no reason and he was tired of it. The funny thing about the generator is since we have had it we only have used it a handful of times.
We also have a whole house generator in Indiana. It is mostly peace of mind because of our sump pumps in the basement.
Love the video! That plow was a great investment. Blessings from lower 48!
I love you guys you have helped me see the bright side during Covid ☺️
The snow is absolutely beautiful! It looks like a fluffy snow ❄️
Love your posts.
Like I said earlier, I lived in North Pole for a time in the 80s..88-91. Saw record snow. Shovel snow off car >>go to work>>> shovel snow off car >> drive home.
The snow became a storage issue. Snow all the way up to the street/parking lights...they had to truck it out of Fairbanks and North Pole >>>>Trucked it into fields.
Waiting for more vedios from you this christmas season. Lots of love from India. Your vedio makes me very happy
Love love love your familyy 😍😍😍
Southern Alberta Canada...schools closed, accidents like crazy, highways closed, people stuck at home or stuck on the roads and we were told to stay home unless necessary! Two days of snow shut us down 😬 So so pretty though 😁🥰
My first winter outside of Alaska in 40 years!!!! The snow is so pretty but I’m so happy I’m not there this year. God bless you all. ❤️
The snow is beautiful! Especially from down here in Georgia! I just live vicariously through your videos. I grew up in Northern Wisconsin, on Lake Superior. And that's why I live in the south. 🤣❤
That snow looks so beautiful!
Those snow covered trees look beautiful! That is one thing I look forward to in the winter
I agree with you on snow over cold. Anyday
Wow! That's a heap a lot of snow. Looks like a winter wonderland. Glad to hear everyone is doing well. God bless and stay safe. Love from the warm island of Guam 🌴🌴
Good Information on being prepared Bert!
All around fine, fun video!
you can't afford to not be prepared in alaska. cheers!
Cool channel! 👍Love living in Alaska! Visited North Pole a year ago for my stepson’s wedding. Pretty place, I am just too much of a city girl...Anchorage is more my speed 🥰 Family movie nights are a favorite for us, too. Now our kids are continuing that fun tradition with our grandkids. That’s what life is all about...family and making memories!
Hey guys hope y'all are doing well much love your way be safe have a wonderful week 💖❤️🧡💜💛💙💗
I can’t even count how many hurricanes I’ve got ready for! This year many hurricanes but we were blessed only rain and more rain and storms went around us. If I know we will be out of AC I get out....go north. Too humid and hot. I lived with snow and liked it. Michigan and Virginia and NC. You must love it! 🦃🦃🎄🎄
You are great and always positive, I love your videos thank you so much for sharing. You inspired me to be positive. Send you hugs from MX
seeing that fresh snow shovelled was so satisfying! I wish we would get snow here in the UK too, I guess we always want what we don't have
Love all that ❄
It's snowing here as I write this but all we are set to get is 1/2 inch or less. The high today was 30.
Still so excited for your upcoming launch🤗
Your vlogs make me so happy, especially to see the snow!! It was 75 in PA yesterday 🤦🏻♀️
We are in SC on a well so we know about that problem. Our power will go out for ice storms and snow and hurricanes so we have some notice. The longest we have been without power was 36 hours. We keep some 5 gallon gas cans full of water in our garage for flushing toilets and usually eight 24 packs of water for drinking and cooking. But, when a storm is coming we fill bath tubs and everything in the garage that can be filled with water such as 5 gallon buckets. We fill those outside on the driveway with the hose. If we have a long term outage we have a small woodstove that we can bring in and run a stove pipe up the chimney but we have never had to use it in the 20 years we have had it.
We have a large diesel generator that powers about 70% of the house. We don't have it connected to the dryer, microwave, dishwasher and about half the lights/plugs. At the cabin we don't have power at all and always had the smaller generators and a propane range and water heater but this year converted to solar and it's a game changer. I would love to convert the house to solar as well at some point.
I cleaned Sunday from like 1am for a few hrs majority of the day. Had about 4 cups of coffee but i got a lot done. ❤💯😁 felt super accomplished💯❤😁
I live in central OH, and we've had mild winters the past few years. I can't imagine living in Alaska. My nephew's great grandma lives in Alaska. They visited her last year, they brought me back a mug.
Wow!!! That snow is gorgeous! I know it’s a pain for you guys but we never get snow like that! So glad you posted today!!!
I get to travel in Alaska because of your channel.
Love it. 😍
That snow is so pretty and fluffy!!!
So pretty there..stay safe. Bless you guys🌴
When it comes to power outages, we are mostly concerned about our subpump. We spend good money on a battery backup system. It has been well worth it. Now we can use our generator for running other things.
The drone shots are amazing.
Family night is such a good idea because believe me you're going to blink & they will be grown & on their own . I don't know how many times I would put things off thinking I had plenty of time & now regret it .
Sausage, egg, and cheese biscuits always make things better ❤️
It’s so beautiful ❄️ love the vlogs 🤍
