How To Paint A Pickguard, Plus Some Preamp Tweaks. (Project Berocca Part 12)

  • In this video I modify the preamp to tweak the tone of both pickups. I use push pull control pots to add versatility to the bass. Next I remove the vinyl wrap then spray paint the pickguard with a rattle can to match the body color.

    What were the steps you used to spray the pickguard? Did you sand it first? And how did you notice the wear?

      So far it's been pretty good. There is a slight shiny spot where my thumb rests by the pickup. I used basic hardware store satin clear lacquer. If you do a lot of slapping and need a harder finish, I'd go with a 2-pack if available. Or maybe a layer of clear vinyl wrap...
