The animation was beautiful and so fluent, I enjoy the games now still, even if nostalgia plays a big part Putt putt, Pyjama Sam and freddy fish are my childhood Thank you for the review!
I feel like I missed out. The only one I played when I was younger was Pajama Sam 3, and I adored it because I loved the art style, and the writing didn't feel as patronizing as other "educational" games I played at the time. Hearing that that game was the probably the preachiest of any of the bundle's games has definitely made me more interested in the other games, especially the first 2 Pajama Sam games to see what I missed out on.
At first I was surprised that you had never played the Pajama Sam games, but it made sense to me once I realized that your affection seems geared more towards Humongous' earlier pixelated animation style. Of the earlier Putt-Putt games, I only played the Moon one. Your video makes me want to play the Parade one, and also the Fatty Bear game.
Comments on Reddit Game Deals had a lot of nostalgia for these games and recommended them if you had small kids. I was a console player so I missed out on these type of games when I was younger. I honestly think Pong was the first game I played.
For compatibility, with a few steps, all the games can be run without any emulator or code changes. Tested from the cartoony style games onwards (Putt-Putt Saves the Zoo, ...) on the original CD releases. The problem is, while the games are programmed in 32-bit and run perfectly fine in 64-bit Windows 10, the executable itself is 16-bit and can't be opened. BUT there's a catch! ... In your respective games folders (e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\Putt Putt Saves the Zoo\), look for the main executable. It's the one in all caps, like PUTTZOO.EXE. Delete it. It doesn't work, you don't need it. Then, look for the .W32 file with the same name in the same folder, like PUTTZOO.W32. Rename that one to an .exe file (Rename PUTTZOO.W32 to PUTTZOO.EXE) and voila! Open it and you'll see: it works perfectly!
I remember when libraries had computer games too, and when elementary schools had computer classes where educational games like The Oregon Trail series and Kid Pix Studio among others could be played. Good times.
I think you were somewhat unfair with the Arcade titles. The recurring issue of "X but without enemies" tells me you only played each game for about ten minutes. Once you're past the admittedly dull tutorial stages, the difficulty curve can be pretty fierce. ...But maybe that's just my nostalgia talking. XP
Spy Fox > Pajama Sam > Putt-Putt > Rest That Fatty Bear thing might be giving me memories I can't remember, cuz I thought I never played that. You think putt putt is the best, but as someone who grew up on multiple humongous, spy fox wins hard.

Pajama sam one is a master piece, but the 3rd one also has a place in my heart. It just oozes with care and passion
Spy Fox > Pajama Sam > Putt-Putt > Rest
Did you ever go back to try them?
