N Jessie Neino I just replaced my motor. its a piston rod bearing. your gonna need to change the crankshaft and get a whole new piston. with the piston irregularly knocking against the crank shaft the piston gets cracked and chipped on the cylinder. replace the broken piston completely and the crankshaft. just don't drive it til then or the whole engine will be toast. you can still drive it like hell. you'll just have significant problems as you drive. as I said before. my engine did the exact same thing after me driving it like hell. and yes I know a piston rod and piston head are separate parts but you'll want to buy a new one completely

@@jonathanshimoon3776 It can lead to camshaft pitting. My 5.7 had to be rebuilt because of of that. It's not just over revving, its also caused by overheating. The problem started after my radiator ate a fan blade and overheated. Take care of it now or it will lead to misfires once the groove is deep enough.
all cars need to be warmed up first. 1 oil does not properly lubricate until its over 130 degrees F. 2 when thermostat is closed there is no coolant flow to heads and the heat can damage or even melt valves.
You're supposed to properly wear in the engine for a certain amount of miles and keep the RPMs under 4000 I think for about one or two thousand miles to make sure the Rings set properly
Have owned two different dodge vehicles, they are always known for issues with this knock sound. Its the lifters. Usually the pin holding the lifter has sheered off and a cold engine will make this sound.
well, there goes one of the lifters. Lifter is broken. Video was done in May so I don't know what happened later, but my brother in law's 300c srt8 developed the same problem going back from florida to NY. Towards the end of the trip, the lifter broke, and by the time we got to a shop and took the engine apart, there were broken lifter chunks everywhere, and pieces have already reached the oil pan. Small pieces got into the camshaft bearing, completely destroying it. The mechanic spend like 3-4 hours trying to get the camshaft out of the block alone, because it was stuck in the cam bearing. Had to completely rebuild the entire engine, including getting a new block. Total cost was around $6500. It's now got an inertia srt max cam, better pushrods, valve springs, few other mods to support the cam, and it runs strong :)). wasn't dynoed so don't know the exact power though :(.
Exhaust manifold: He lost a rear mounting bolt. This normally happens to trucks when pushed too hard but just as easily can happen to a Hellcat or any dragster. The car isn't ruined, but your emission control system will show a light for the manifold leak.
It is a D badge Hillcap not a demon. Side fenders have bolts in the fenders there's a smooth surface on the actual demon. No bolts to hold it to the side panels. Come on people do better. That's a car kit on the hellcat.
Good call beachbum, this guy is as toasted as his engine and warrantee. I don't understand that, but I do understand, however what a problem child the Challenger is. I had a '15 SRT 392 that was nothing but problems from the 2nd week I owned it, 22 service calls in 24 months and Dodge never fixed the freggin car. I couldn't sell it, no dealer would take it in and I was stuck. The VIN printouts needed 1/2 a rheam of paper to print out all the things that was wrong with that damn car. Its a machine and sometimes there's a lemon, I get that but fix the car!!! After the #5piston went south and took the motor with it I got a lawyer and shoved it up Dodges ass. I took the check from Dodge, took back my hellcat challenger deposit and ordered my 2017 Camaro ZL1. At 10000 miles and there hasn't so much as a hiccup with this car, it's awsome AND reliable. Every time I got into my SRT it was Russian roulette to see what error codes are starting off my day with. I've been a MOPAR guy most of my life but I'm done with their crappy reliability records. There's guys all over CZcams that are beyond pissed, $80000+ and within weeks their nightmares are just beginning. My Zl1 is faster till we hit 100mph where the hellcat starts to slowly pull away. I'm gonna do some non-invasive bolt on upgrades with a bigger supercharger pulley, CAI and a dyno tune of both the engine computer and the 10 speed auto and I'll be erasing the hellcats pulling away when 100mph is hit. I'll be the one in front and more importantly no problems with the ZL1. I'm happy I got this beast instead of the hellcat challenger.

Engine makes an unsettling noise.. proceeds to do a burnout. The last time I heard a vehicle that I owned make this noise, I immediately had it taken in because it turned out to be an actual knock. And if I kept driving it around, it woulda bent. Or it woulda knocked holes in the motor and that’s a very expensive fix.
This not a Demon since the cars weren't available to the public until June 2017. This video was uploaded in May 2017. At best it is a Hellcat with somebody but that is not available to the public from the factory (Dodge) before the 2018 model year. There are company,s that make the somebody. Which this is because you can see because of the quality of the kit. Plus the Demon is just being delivered to the dealership now.
Almost all new Hemis have the famous "Hemi Tick". But that sounds louder than what mine does or have heard others do. Sounds like a lifter is hitting the valve cover.

When your bearing connecting to the crankshaft is spun or just ruined and the piston along with the connecting rod is spinning out of sink causing a loud knock. This sounds more like a lifter. Also if that was a rod knocking and he's still doing burnouts I'm confused as to how that block would even hold up that much abuse.

Btw range rovers are junk. But hey check out the 400K mile e55 amg. I'd Like to see the highest mile srt8.. maybe a whopping 180K? And yes my repairs have been pretty expensive, but i don't complain cause my car has air suspension and a bunch of other features the hellcat doesn't have. Its a great car, the bitches love it while at the same time having more balls then any srt8 and with a few easy mods i run with hellcats for a quarter of the price

It is a real demon, If you look at the infotainment screen in the bottom right at 1:11 there is "Line Lock" and a "Drag Options" Menu that wasn't featured on the hellcat...
