- I am very very excited to share my visit to the UC Davis Botanical conservatory with all of you watching around the world. I was fortunate enough to be able to take an in-depth tour of the facility with Ernesto Sandoval who is both the director and curator of the greenhouses there. What a amazing gift it was. I have only listened to Ernestos talks you can find online so to be able to hang out with him very indeed special. There are so many interesting plants in the video I know you'll love it! Thanks for being here.
THE QUEST CONTINUES...
Special thank you to @crazy4cactus for being my road dog and camera man on this epic quest. I can't imagine doing it without you homeboy!
Thanks to Artie for making the connection between Ernesto and I, Thanks man!
I usually produce all the beats in my videos as music has always been my first love however this go round I used a few tunes from www.epidemicsound.com
Last but not least please check out my online merchandise shop and grab a tshirt or hoodie if you'd like to support the channel.

Fabulous tour! I hope more are scheduled! I saw a bunch of Staghorn ferns growing happily!
In answer to your question, " vegans and carnivorous plants" ? Yes! Lyn of Desert plants of Avalon! She and her partner Hans both are vegan and grow carnivorous plants!! Peace, Love, Plants!!!
Super like! I watched Ernesto in a CSSA presentation. He’s knowledgeable and very amiable. Thanks Hunter. ☺️👍🏼
Hell ya!
Amazing video. I learned so much. Dorstenia are some of my favorite plants along with Stapeliads. I'm rooting a bunch of cuttings now and the instructions told me to root them horizontally! I will go and tip them upright tomorrow.
Wonderful rare plants, thanks for sharing.
Dendrosicyos socotranum is my dream species.
Very awesome I like it
Awesomeness!!!
Your videos keep getting better and better!
I like verry much .
I live in TX and water all my cactus and succulents everyday or two. I make my soil and it is a balance or rich+ sandy loam+ compost and shale and my plants are dreamy and happy...unless I am trying to stress them to make them have more color.
Facinating video, I definitely crave more of these 👌
i like this episode because its one niche and you were learning something as well
Thanks for this video, Amazing plants and I like its.
Super entertaining. Great job Hunt!
More on amborella please!!
Holy crap
loved all the cultivation info and specifics!!
That was fun to watch! I went to school there many years ago and enjoyed the update
I just love your music, and you create it? Oh my. Have you ever thought of creating movie scores. I think it's that good.
Really great video! Hope you keep making video’s😁👍🏻 very informative!
Thank you for taking us along! Loved it.
The convergent evolution of pitchers, on nitrogen deprived plants, on opposite sides of the planet, is mindblowing
Wow, I didn't know there were also pitcher plants on the tepuis of s america
Oh, how cool. Propagating Welwitschia mirabilis
What a strange fucking plant
Awesome video, Hunter. Fantastic selection of plants and I learnt a lot from watching. Cheers for sharing with us, looking forward to the next quest! 👍🏻🌵☀️🌼🏜
Tons of very useful info! Amazing specimens too! Ernesto’s enthusiasm is simply contagious. Just wondering if he believes in CAM as he said he waters in the morning. Maybe early morning.🤔
Another Awesome episode Hunter‼️ Kevin did such a great job filming this‼️ I really like listening to Ernesto talk about plants cuz he makes it interesting and informative and at the same time fun with some corny but funny jokes. Great job to everyone‼️🙌🏽🙌🏽💯💯🤩🤩
Bless you Judy!
@@crazy4cactus731 I Love that You guys talked about Welys‼️
My absolute fav‼️😍
@@crazy4cactus731 Looking forward to Your next Quest with Hunter‼️
I’m so glad Caralluma acutangula got a little spotlight! I’ve been trying to find cuttings for months now for my stapeliad collection
Awesome the carnivorous plants are rad!
Agree HoodBoss!
I need to find a rich benefactor to support my indulgent love for plants.
What an excellent video! The video quality was top notch and the conversation was informative and flowed with ease. Really enjoyable to watch. Thanks again!!
Good stuff Hunter! As always, lots of great info.

Dope video! Keep them coming 🤙🏽🤙🏽
Those Dorstenias are THICCCCC
Well. .I learned something new... didn't know there were male and female plants!!
Great video, very interesting, informative but the UC guy sounds so much like Janice from the Muppets it makes me laugh! Make him say oh wow man!
Spray furtilicer on a pitcher plant and it will stop make pitchers i learned that the hard way
I hope to run a greenhouse like this one day!!!
This was a fabulous episode😌👏💯Very Interesting and great conversation too. I enjoyed it so much and all the growing tips were welcome
wohoo been awhile bro! interesting how angolan and namibian mirabilis could have different form, growth rate and so on
well like that.. in every plant explanation, there is an id of the plant. I hope that every video has an explanation, the id is written.
I'm vegan and I don't really care about carnivorous plants. You can't force things to be what they aren't.
Edit: can that nectar be used like honey? Or refined into syrup for use in cooking or drinks or something?
What a cool person to interview.
hmmm i have hearty succulents facing north light. no direct sun. proof if needed lol 😂
