I made an error by referring to the adapter as the SIGMA MC-21 instead of the correct one, which is the SIGMA MC-11. The adapter featured in the video is indeed the SIGMA MC-11. My apologies for any confusion.
The "rattle" in the 16-35mm f/4 is because it has a linear AF motor. The Sigma 24-70 has a stepper motor. The rattle is normal on lenses with linear motors since the elements can slide freely when it's not powered.
I'm trying to be minimalist nowadays, and I only have the 24-105 f/4 - and it is a banger of a lens. Very sharp for a 24-105, has the 2:1 macro, and the OIS is outstanding on it. I'm looking forward to the 100-500 someday down the road - but for now as an amateur with small kids, I just can't haul all the kit around that I used to back in my DSLR days. L mount got a lot of unearned flak early on for their lack of lenses, etc. but I've found that their lineup has some really solid options. Your three picks all looked excellent with my favorite definitely being that 50mm - it's just gorgeous.
@@yellonight I'd love to try it but at 2kg it's just untenable for me. I'm flying often enough internationally with all my gear and need to keep it all in carry-on. 1.1kg for the 100-400 is already a lot all considered
There is a HUGE miss understanding among CZcams videographers that the most widely used aperture in cinematography is F 2.8. The very image you share shows what you (and many others) are getting wrong. T stops and F stops are different measures. T 2.8 is not equivalent to F 2.8. It would depend on the specific lens, since every lens has a different quality of light transmittance, but T 2.8 would roughly be something like f2.3. to 2.5
I 1st encountered the 50/1.4 lens when the S5 was released. I picked the camera with the lens on and put it down right away. It was too heavy and big for my use case. I do street photography. When I purchased the S5ii I bought the 50/1.8 and 85/1.8 lenses. They are reasonably small and light. Surprised to see the 85/1.8 is approximately the same size and weight as the 50/1.8. On top of that both have the same filter thread. Both of these lenses are reasonably priced. Neither have an aperture ring or OIS. So far no zoom lens. Mask On Nurse Marty (Ret)
Great video! Thanks for the suggestions. If you do a long term review of the s5ii, it would be great to hear how it pairs with your black magic cameras. Would like to hear if it’s worth shooting BRAW on the s5ii or if you think it’s an extra step thats not worth it when working on client work.

@@OBP_The highlight of this Viltrox is the switch between O and A mode. One for Sigma lenses, the other for others. It wouldn't force you to apsc mode when you mount an apsc lens like Sigma 18-35. The Pro version also has positive locking mount and great weather sealing.
1:14 One question, slightly off-topic: Do you use a MOGRT for the 1st lens name? I really like the concept, and I noticed it in another video again. I'm wondering if it's a preset name or if you created it yourself?
Are people getting into using promist filters again all of a sudden because every "influencer" video person has a signature model filter to flog? There can't be a sensible reason to use one, unless you like your stuff to look like a cheesy 80s TV show.
Softer and seemingly better Highlight roll off, less digitally sharpenend look, can create some dept and creates nice skins. There are so many more reasons why so many people are using them now. Even though I agree that not every other CZcamsr needs their own filter. U just sound annoyed and ignorrant.
I liked the video, but something's bothering me: are the headshots done using a Black Mist filter? I've heard/read about it and if that's the case then it looks ass. It look as if someone just breathed over the glass, as if the lens has condensation. I know autofocus is important to a lot of people, but why not use vintage lenses at this point?
I did think about this, and it is a complicated answer. I was trying to keep the video not too long! To cut a long story short. They are linear and are settings inside the menu to change angle but have soft stops on the lens. They are no cine lenses, but I'd say they are a little better than most of the Sony E mount lens, and the Sigma lens are just the same as all the other newer Sigama stuff.
Bro do you have a video on How to Select and When to use a certain Autofocus Mode on the S5 II? I would love to be educated on your insight on how to best use this Cameras AF Modes.
Great idea. I have been thinking about a video based around the Lumix AF system. I will get one done over the next week or so. as always thanks for commenting!
Hey bro! I have a 24-105 do you think the sigma 24-70 is better? Or should I just keep the 24-105 I want to use the sigma for my more run and gun social media work etc
Do you know when the next firmware update for this camera will be? I've been trying to look for any new firmware update news or even a conversation of people talking about the next firmware and I found nothing.
I don't unfortunately. I believe in Lumix and think they will bring an update soon. With the new AF features in the G9ii (that being a cheaper camera), we can only assume the features are coming to our S5ii soon. I will drop a video ASAP when I hear any news.
Yeah, it's great. It's just like shooting super35. There are no downsides outside of the crop and needs a little more light. The 100/120FPS on the other hand takes a massive hit on image quality and falls below what I personally class are useable.
@@OBP_ hmm so if i plan to upgrade from my crop sensor xt3 for the full fram of the lumix but i only shoot in 60 4k does it make it not worth the upgrade? i was planning to upgrade because of the better low light. is the 4k 60 crop on the lumix equivalent to the image quality on a regualr crop sensor camera?
Honestly, I couldn't watch until the end of the video. Your audio is terrible, clipped and chopped up due to your jump cuts. Done in a rush, I guess. Not easy on the ear.
Audio is defiantly my weak point. (being a DOP, never really been my department) CZcams is a massive learning curve, just invested in 2 new mics so going to keep studying and leaning. Thanks for the feedback!

an aperture between f/1.4-1.8, 35 or 50mm prime lense would be great for portrait/barber videos
