It looks like the z-ordering in petscop seems to work on a per-face basis, which is accurate with how PS1-era graphics worked

I think that the generations have an impact on the "game development" and it develops as people play it. The only concern I have is that you would need an insane amount of data to make these things happen and a PS1 era CD just won't work. It needs a high capacity CD or DVD that didn't existed back then, so Petscop is a modern game made for PS1.
Amber got stuck in a cage, Phil got stuck more generally, James was determined not to give up, Care just liked moving around, Mike had an office to search to complete his long Easter Egg hunt, and Belle's very smart. These many recordings... it seems like some can be recorded automatically, but others are individually labelled, perhaps by filename, or perhaps by somebody registering the recordings? Either way, the power of recordings is a very interesting one. I remember when this video was posted, me and my best friend were freaking out, talking to each other about it all, I was just trying to sleep when Petscop 17 went up... recordings have the power to do a lot of things, not all of them good, but not all of them bad, either. Something happened, and someone wants us to see enough of it, but wants to keep some select things hidden. Thank you for sharing, either way.

I'm pretty sure the ones marked with a memory card are (as the symbol suggests) the ones currently saved to Paul's PS1's memory card-- i.e. kept in external storage (in relation to the game, at least). The ones marked with a disc, however, have likely been somehow written onto the disc-- irreversibly saved within the game.

Maybe not, since one of the clips included showed the player failing to catch that pet by the gates. Since we know that Paul knows how to catch that pet from earlier episodes, the persom playing might not be Paul.
These are either: A save states as hinted by the auto-saves, or B: records kept by the game of it's players, like if somebody named micheal played the game the game memorized the inputs and it would be saved as micheal. Im pretty sure gen. is game version or game progress.

One theory I have with this episode. A lot of the disks have random names that we haven’t heard of in the story. Maybe by doing something special in the respective disks, he “rebirths” the person in corresponds to. Rebirthing is a common trend among the perscop universe.

well here we learn that paul was not the only one who played the games, but many other kids. It might be this game is designed as a psychological tool to "help" kids get over mental issues?? It is very odd how Paul hasn't been mentioned at all during the last few episodes. In Petscop 17 they explained all of Care's family but there was no mention of Paul although we know he's part of it, and in this one he does not seem to have a recorded file either. Very odd.

I'm kind of lost in the many theories people had created but I was thinking. In 2:01 when the player enters the "sort-test gen 1" can we assume that this file contains the real start of the game? Because in Petscop 13 it says that the game is a "growing organism". What if the game just has been "evolving" (learning about the family's history and every member as they played the game through the years) as the family got bigger? It seems to me that the game is all about this family and it's been passing through generations.
That's what I originally though but now I'm thinking it's just recreating the actions of these kids who disappeared one way or another. This game might not be as sinister as it first appeared.

Maybe not, since one of the clips included showed the player failing to catch that pet by the gates. Since we know that Paul knows how to catch that pet from earlier episodes, the persom playing might not be Paul.
These are either: A save states as hinted by the auto-saves,
or B: records kept by the game of it's players, like if somebody named micheal played the game the game memorized the inputs and it would be saved as micheal. Im pretty sure gen. is game version or game progress.

One theory I have with this episode.
A lot of the disks have random names that we haven’t heard of in the story. Maybe by doing something special in the respective disks, he “rebirths” the person in corresponds to. Rebirthing is a common trend among the perscop universe.

well here we learn that paul was not the only one who played the games, but many other kids. It might be this game is designed as a psychological tool to "help" kids get over mental issues?? As we watch the recordings we get to see how these kids think and interact with the game, so the "recordings raise the dead" is an interesting statement and worth thinking about.

I love how this series manages to stay consistently disturbing without making use of cheap jumpscares nor gory images.
What I really like about this series is that it always keeps you on edge, so you always expect something popping out all of a sudden, yet the closest it has ever gotten to a jumpscare was at 3:54

Idk if you google translated it but it is never used in that context. It almost always refers to the terminal. In fact that's the only context I've heard it in. Plus the cars.
I think Nightmare Masterclass' analysis of it coming from Gara (fish guts, fish meat) and Lina (line, fishing line) is more apt (and equally creepy).
Also the G is fish hook shaped and the extended shape around it is shaped just like a fishing weight.

I haven't seen Petscop 21 yet, but what Care's movements reminded me of was when she was copying Paul's movements in the mirror in earlier parts.

It is very odd how Paul hasn't been mentioned at all during the last few episodes. In Petscop 17 they explained all of Care's family but there was no mention of Paul although we know he's part of it, and in this one he does not seem to have a recorded file either. Very odd.

I'm kind of lost in the many theories people had created but I was thinking. In 2:01 when the player enters the "sort-test gen 1" can we assume that this file contains the real start of the game? Because in Petscop 13 it says that the game is a "growing organism". What if the game just has been "evolving" (learning about the family's history and every member as they played the game through the years) as the family got bigger? It seems to me that the game is all about this family and it's been passing through generations.
Is it showing how the others who played the game played?
The game probably does record inputs, so yeah I think it is.

My heart goes out to Amber, she really DID sit in that cage lol...in fact she won the trophy and came back and did the exact same thing next test it looks like, which makes wonder just how YOUNG Amber is. Is it possible Amber is a 3 or 4 year old? How old are these (assumed) kids?
