Best review I've seen and heard đ đ đ Love how you change through each soundbars differences in sound quality at the end.
Fantastic video, Josh! I can tell that a TON of work went into this and it shows. Excellent job!
Thanks Jonah! Yeah, these comparison videos are no small task. I see yours has done incredibly well, so itâs worth putting in the effort. Kinda wish I got it out earlier but life gets busy.
Great video đ. I bought the LG SP11RA a month ago and love it. Regarding the bass, I did initially find it very weak when I had placed it directly in front of me. After doing some research I found out that downward facing subs are best placed in a corner. Once i moved it, boy did the bass come to life. I actually had to dial the bass down during Dolby Atmos content!
Fantastic video. Great work. Highly informative and useful.
Whew! I'm one of the few that knows just how much work went into this...and it shows! Great summation of all these sound bars!
Yeah... It's no small task. Thanks Ealan đ
Thank you So Much for putting the current "Retail price" I know we're in an inflationary environment but this gives me an idea of cost. THX Again
Josh, this is the best video on this subject that I have seen. And I've seen more than a few. My personal takeaway is that if one has the budget, Sonos is a great choice.
Very good review. Thank you.

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.
The Vizio Elevate is worthy to be on this list. It's very under rated in my opinion but can absolutely throw out the sound for a fraction of the price. For the budget minded don't sleep on the Elevate.
Subscribed. Very nice video, and great information. I'm waiting for the Sonos Arc 2 next year. Hopefully better connectivity, and I'll buy two satellites but no sub.

Yeah, if they add at least one HDMI INPUT, Bluetooth and DTS X compatibility I think it'll do really well.
Very nice breakdown. Based on several reviews, including this one, I bought an LG SP9YA for my LG 65â OLED as I felt it best fit my room and listening needs.

What soundbar would you recommend to use with a LGOLED65C1 65 inch tv?
Hi,
I'm looking for a sound bar for my lg oled tv. Which one would you recommend? Budget is around 350 to 400 at most. Small room setting. Thank you.
Harman kardon mulibeam 1100 for me. Surround also amazing
Hi I have the Bose sound touch 300 soundbar base module and rear speakers but I was just wondering if it's worth just upgrading to the bowl's 900 or should I get the bowl's 900 soundbar base 700 and rare speakers 700
Great comparison
Thanks Hector
I've had several soundbars and a surround sound package but it was only when I purchased an budget AVR and a pair of budget stereo speakers that I realised what I had been missing (stereo imaging, thumping base) besides going down this route one can always add to it overtime! subwoofer, surround speakers you could even get height speakers to get the full 'non-virtual' Dolby Atmos experience. Nowadays AVRs are so simple to setup, they even walk you through the process!
"Remember movies are made up of 50% visuals and 50% audio and there are occasions when the audio out does the visuals"
Gonna be hard to compete with high end Soundbars that offer rear speakers with a 5.1.2 or higher setup. Price wise, soundbars will likely win. High end home theatre setups will win, but when dealing with sub 2k budgets, soundbars are likely the way to go.
doesn't really matter how many speakers a soundbar has, at the end of the day... there's no stereo separation between those speakers, therefore no imaging in the sound stage.
The sound which comes from a soundbar is a virtualized sound unlike a direct sound that comes from stereo speakers!
A high-end soundbar might sound impressive but all one is hearing, is reflections!
I'm not just a home theatre enthusiast, I'm also an avid 2-channel listener.
I don't mean to boast...

Excellent video and great review! Itâs obvious youâve put a lot of effort into this.
With your Sonos setup, do you have Loudness on or off? I find Iâm always toggling this on mine depending on what Iâm playing.

Thanks Josh. This was much awaited review. Now I don't regret returning my bose 900 and buying sonos.

Great job, one of the better reviews I have ever seen. I only miss Sennheiser Ambeo. Why is it not on your list? I admit that I am just going to buy it and I wonder if it will be a good choice
Thanks for the feedback. I wouldâve loved to add the Ambeo to the video but this list of Soundbars already cost me a fortune and the Ambeo is an older bar at this point that doesnât have surrounds so I had to omit it. From other reviewers it seems like an awesome bar that is the closest to a home theatre system.
I have a LGC1 65" .. Do you think I should get a LG soundbar for compatibility.. I like that on my other LG TV (old plasma) paired with LG soundbar that I only have to use the TV remote.. I really don't like a bunch of remotes. I was thinking of the LG Sp9ya for the C1.. Any thoughts?
With these soundbars any of them will work with HDMI Arc and you get the same functionailty. The SP9Y is an alright bar but still has a lack of bass like it's bigger brother. I would also look at the JBL 5.1 Surround Sound as I find that to be a better option than the LG's.
Dear Josh,
Thank you very much for the great video, high level of reviewing. Actually, I bought Sonos set system as your recommend to me. Also, we are interested from you to do review for Sony HT-A9, HT-A7000, SA-SW5, and SA-RS5.
Always keep up the great work.
Thanks Saeed for the great feedback! đ
Great choice on soundbar! How do you find it? I'm working on getting those Sony Speakers in but having issues due to the stock shortages. Cheers man
@@archwaytech Hopefully for you to get them soon. How do I find Sonos, actually, it is a great system ONLY for two points: 1st when we are watching movies on Netflix and 2nd when we are listening to music on Spotify or Apple Music. It is a great system only as I see for something only you have to pay monthly money for them such as Netflix, Apple Music, etc. the Sonos set system will be great with kind of this.
However and honestly, I would say unfortunately Sonos set system is NOT GOOD AT ALL when the point comes during using HDMI source for TV such as watching News, Sports, Sitcom, Action or Drama, the surround speakers One SL and the Sub will be died. There is no sound at all from One SL and the Sub. Only the sound comes from Arc. So there is no impressive surround sound with that case.
My family and my little kids were disappointed with Sonos set system because my family likes watching TV a lot by using HDMI source such as Sports, Action, Drama and watching on CZcams a lot such as listening to music and with these unfortunately it will be no sound from One SL and the Sub. My family is not interested to pay monthly money for only watching movies on Netflix, or listening to music on Spotify or Apple Music.
In addition, the other thing we do not like on Sonos that the speakers only work with WiFi and without it, no speakers will work. Therefore, when we do not have sometimes internet at home and we would like watching TV using HDMI source, the sound will only come from TV not from Sonos set system.
@@saeedhn12 the sonos speakers still work without wifi when using hdmi. They have an own sonos net, so even the surronds and sub work without wifi aswell when watching tv. I recomend turning the surround level and sub level up, if you prefer more sound from it
Just replace it with Sony HT a9 with sw5 sub. Trust me you won't regret at all. This system is one of a kind
@@jospdcunha Thank you very much. Actually, I am thinking of Sony because many reviewers recommend it because it has really quality sound and loud.

No worries đ Yeah, Iâm a Kiwi
Great video, thanks Josh. Do you think there are any limitations with pairing the Q950A with a Sony OLED?
Hey Norm. Thanks, appreciate the feedback. đ Nah, I wouldnât say thereâs any limitations pairing it with a Sony. So long as itâs got eARC, then youâll get Atmos and itâll sound as good as plugging it into a Samsung. Cheers
I have a hw-q800a conected to a x90j on earc, i have some issue controling the volume with the tv remote...it will get stuck in a range of 10 incremental (27 to 37 for example) so impossible to go to 26 and below with either remotes, only way around is used the smart thing app or switch off and on.... you wont get any onscreen display for the sound bar but the bar will let you know when playing atmos content(no other type of content) apart this issue, everything work as expected
@@sebastien4773 I have the q950a. It tells you when you are playing Atmos or DTS:X.
@@geordieny do you have any issue with controling the volume with the tv remote?
Iâve had lots of issues with Sony TVâs arc not working properly with any soundbar. Make sure the TVs been updated then try replugging in the hdmi cable to both ends. Iâll be putting up a video next weekend with some more troubleshooting options.
I own a sony ht a7000 soundbar. It's very expensive, specially if you want the 300 wats subwoofer and surround speakers to go with it but it's hdmi 2.1 ready and supports up til 8k 60fps/4k 120fps. It's a beast. It's not cheap but it's worth the money.
Lg S95QR and Sony HT-A7000?
I am not sure why you don't review or add Nakamichi Shockwave sound bars.
Great video!!! No Sony HTA7000 though? Do you note rate it?
Thanks! I couldn't get ahold of one in time to do this video. Sony have the HT-A7000 and HT-A9 on backorder here in New Zealand. I'll keep trying to get my hands on one though. Cheers
@@archwaytech thank you for responding (and oh so quickly). Thank you again for the video. I thoroughly enjoyed it! I'm leaning sonos or sony at the moment (due to having a sony tv)
hey what you recommend , in my country jbl and samsung are similar prices , im looking for best bass experience and good dolby
If you want the most bass then the JBL sub is the way to go and it does a good job at Atmos too. The biggest thing Samsung has over it tho is the customisability and being able to change the sound profile to get it sounding the best in your room.
Jbl 9.1 â€
JBL BAR 9.1 is the best in my opinion.. About the speaking voice that is lacking & other sound balancing issue, you can easily solve it by the source that has EQ settings or speech enhancement from the source.. for example the sony tv has great sound & great sound customization the will enhance what it's going to transfer to the jbl bar 9.1 & also have roku ultra with dolby atmos/vision that also have sound EQ settings & enhancement.. all of the source have customizable sound settings.. so the jbl is the perfect soundbar for me..
Hi there, is there any kind of incompatability that doesn t allow the use of all features of the Samsung HW-Q950A when connected to an Oled LG TV? Thanks for the help.
Hey Nelson. The only thing you get pairing the Q950a with a Samsung TV is the volume numbers on the TV which you donât get with any other branded TV. Apart from that, if your LG has eARC then youâll get all the other features. Hope that helps.
@@archwaytech thank you very much for helping on this. Regards. Nelson
Do you have video about bose 900 vs sonos arc single soundbar?or bose 900 vs sony ht7000
Not currently. As a basic answer Iâd go ARC for bar only as it does a better job giving full sound. The A7000 isnât available here in New Zealand yet so havenât been able to get my hands on one. Cheers
I don't know about the Bose New Zealand website, the Bose 900 is still unavailable to purchase in Australia...
Yeah itâs only available in certain countries⊠I had to import it from the states which cost an arm and a leg but worth it for making the videos.
The sound is subjective, I own a Sonos arc and a Bose 700 and for music I like the Bose
Did you experience any drop outs with any of the bars? Are you going to get the Sony HT-A9?
Maybe i can help,i have the sonos for a year now and 0 problem at the moment and its really are easy to use,btw im a
Bose user for 20 long years and im not turning back to bose.
The Bose dropped out a couple times but I was turning these soundbars on and off a lot which probably didn't help. All the rest were rock solid. The Sonos and Bose require a good internet connection so bear that in mind. I'm going to try and get the A9 in for review, it's just really hard to get ahold of at the moment.
Just subscribe to your channel, your videos are so great that i always watch your reviews without noticing that i havent subscribe yet,i now im sure i made the right decision i was always wondering what if i bought the bose?im a bose user for 20 years,i have my sonos set up the arc, sonos one sl as surrounds and DUAL SONOS SUB,and the sound is great!I have owned 6 different subs and the sonos sub for me is the best,no distorsion at ALL even to its hoghest volume..one sub ia great but with DUAL sub is awsome movies now is even. More joyful to watchđđ i thought it will be overkilling the system but, what it did is now it even filled the whole room with great deep monaterous bass..again thank you for your hard work, more power..
Thanks Juan! Appreciate your support đThat's an awesome Sonos setup... I wouldn't worry about the Bose option if you're happy with what you've already got. The Bose 700 Sub won't come close to the dual Sonos that you're using anyway. Cheers man.

Between Samsung and JBL which one would you buy?

Hi , how would you compare a q950a with a dedicated 5.1.2 set up? I wanted to find answer myself but there is no store that has 950a for demo nearby my area.. would love to hear your input. Thanks !
Depends how much you spend on your setup. You need to get a receiver (with proper pass through for HDR, and 4K@120fps if you have a next gen console) and all the speakers plus subwoofer.
Generally a dedicated setup is gonna sound better per speaker. But Samsung uses a large number of speakers to give you a great sense of immersion. The surround effect is pretty competitive.
@@justsaying993 i already have PS5 and xbox series x and a PC that can do 4k 120hz and a LG C1 capable of it but some of 9.2 receivers in my area like marantz which are available seems to have hdmi 2.1 issues and idk if I wanna gamble on them.
Right now trying to find how loud these speakers can get before q950a's successor releases in few months to go with it.
Have q950a connected to lg cx with series x/ps 5. Its loud! At most I go around lvl 15. It goes to 100. At 15 it rumbles all round the house. Put it to 50 once just to see. It was still clear, no distortion but uncomfortably loud. I've always had good sound systems and this one really impressed me. Good for music, amazing for action movies/gaming.

Currently, have LG SN8YG- looking to upgrade. Some suggestions would be helpful.
JBL-Didn't like the sound signature. Very Bass heavy and distorted Voice
Sonos-Love their but has poor connectivity features. Require at least 2 HDMI ports and Bluetooth functionality.
Samsung-Don't know why people like them, sounds horrible and without character.
Haven't tested the rest
What about Sony's new atmos ?
I havenât tested that one yet but @jonahmatthes has got some great videos on it.
@@archwaytech cheers I was talking about Sony HT-A9 I know they not a soundbar but in same segment of market.
Oh right. Yeah i'd love to get my hands on one of those but they are very hard to find atm, and not available here in New Zealand.
Samsung all the way !
You forgot to mention sony soundbar. Sony is a heavy hitter
Bose wins
Bose is better for music then Sonos
7:53 so basically what you're saying is, Sonos is killing the dynamic range and you, as an audio reviewer, are telling it as if it's a good thing. Okay then.
Avoid LG soundbar they have overheat problem and hdmi passthrough. They wreck your wifi connection too.
Very confuse video
