- Doe Maar is a Dutch pop group that combined influences from ska, punk and reggae to create their own Nederpop sound. The band originally existed from 1978 to 1984. The success with the predominantly youthful fans and the frenzied public reactions of especially young teenage girls regularly led to comparisons with Beatlemania. From a first reunion in 2000 (with a new album), Doe Maar occasionally meets for concert series (2008, 2012, 2013, 2016-2017, 2018).
The first line-up from June 1978 was Ernst Jansz, vocals and keys; Jan Hendriks, guitar; Carel Copier, drums and Piet Dekker, vocals and bass guitar. Joost Belinfante (ex-CCC Inc. and Slumberlandband) temporarily played bass guitar between February and August 1980. After he was replaced by Henny Vrienten he played trombone and percussion as a guest musician.

Wat een leuke merkwaardige clip. Aanleiding is het overlijden van Henny Vrinten, die zich alleen al met dit nummer (figuurlijk dus) onsterfelijk maakte. Briljant nummer die me terugbrengt naar middelbare school
ik was groot fan van doe maar draai t nog vaak op youtube als je t mij vraagt de beste Nederlandse band ooit

The song that taught me "Vlinders" when I was learning Dutch - an important piece of vocabulary. Every so often it still just randomly pops into my head, which show show catchy it was :)

Afgaande op de datum was dit waarschijnlijk het allereerste optreden van Doe Maar bij TopPop, en leuk om *Carel Copier* hier te zien, de oorspronkelijke drummer van Doe Maar (ca. een half jaar na de opname van dit optreden van de band bij TopPop werd Copier vervangen door René van Collem)...:-)
