  • This Cleaner Shrimp Has a Dirty Secret | Removing Parasite Isopod From Marine Lysmata Shrimp
    In this video i remove a parasitic isopod from a marine Lysmata cleaner shrimp. The shrimp was unharmed and now free of this parasite, and back in his saltwater aquarium. These parasites don't have to be removed, but the quality of life for the shrimp is worse and shorter than if they are left in.

    Wow, that was amazing. I have never seen that done before. Not sure I would be confident enough to do it but good to know if can be done.

    Great video. Very informative.
    Will you put him back in with the other Shrimp?
    Maybe quarantine until you're sure the nasty parasite didn't release eggs?
    Also, if you put him back in with the other Shrimp will they pick & eat at him since he has a fresh opening?

    for some reason, i see cleaner shrimp as some sort of allegorical illustration of how social life should work all over on this planet... We all get to do what we were meant to do, we help other individuals of all kinds all over who need/want it, and we all eat at the same time. idk; just a losely connected thought i mused on

    Just got some peppermint shrimp and one of them had a big red lump on it's left side. Not sure what it is, tried getting it with tweezers but it wouldn't budge. Ended up putting him in the tank. Are my other shrimp and angelfish going to be okay?

    Does removing it also hurt the shrimp or does the shrimp will be okay

    • @EverydayAquarist
      @EverydayAquarist  Před 3 lety +3

      If you do it wrong it can hurt the shrimp but otherwise its removing a parasite which can only help it
