It may not be all schools in SA but as someone who has been to both public and private schools, we are taught to have manners at all times! Whether your face is familiar or not, we will greet. And usually when you are not familiar, we ask if you need any help. That's just how we were taught.
You were taught WELL! 👍🏿 We didn't realize the lack of manners we unintentionally showed in some instances UNTIL we came to South Africa for a visit. What seems common to some is not so common to others, especially when taught differently or not taught at all. Class is still in session for us. We have a lot to learn and a lot to unlearn. You all should be very proud of what you have here! 😉
