    Thats why Diego lost this match. The refereeing had a terrible day. In a regular squash game, Diego would be serving 7x3 in the first game.

    Can I just say the new camera angle above and moving round is amazing for squash. It gives the viewers a lot more depth and really shows the movement of the players

      What good is it to see the movement of the players if you can’t see where the ball hits the front wall? The drone makes you miss the game altogether. Also, frequent cutting is not advisable for a fast-paced game such as squash. It’s too disorienting.

    Seeing a lot of very valid comments about the refereeing. Very strange how inconsistent they are, and how often the just give lets! Elias should have had about 3 or 4 strokes there, and Asal got several lets which another ref on another day could have borderline No Lets. These refs must be much stricter and give more consistent messages to their players to play the ball and clear their shots!

  • @riteinureye7299
    @riteinureye7299 Před 2 lety +21

    This game would have been 18 minutes with Diego rightfully winning if it weren’t for the poor and inconsistent refereeing.
    The first two lets were clear as day strokes and then the ref give Asal a stroke for the same thing. The ref goes on to prove that in order to get a stroke you have to fully swing and hit your opponent with your racket to get a proper stroke call.
    Unreal and unfair to Elias. He played so well in this game but Asal’s mental game was too strong to take the match.

      Video ref was a bit dodgy. Jason Foster was excellent here I think. No problem with the live decisions.

  • @grandpatzer
    @grandpatzer Před 2 lety +3

    Elias nicking Asal with the racquet and getting awarded the stroke is a direct consequence of the first two instances where the ref gave a let when Elias had an advantage in the point and Asal wasn't quite clear of the shot. Good reffing promotes safe play.

    Wow what a game that was, some poor refereeing here, I’m not an asal fan but for a big guy he’s really fast around court,he’s also got great racket power and shot selection he’s a force to be reconned with in the future,if only he’d let his squash do the talking and stop being an arse he would be more likeable

    I'd like to see these guys play more aggressively, especially Elias. He tends to get too comfortable with a monotonous, medium paced game that doesn't put a whole lot of pressure on his opponents. I'd like to see a little more David Palmer or John White in his game. Attacking. More volleying. Shorter rallies. Joel Makin is another one.

      @abdiver12 Před 2 lety +1

      @@chatchawintangjaitrong8784 No it isn't but the same could be said of Paul Coll who has become much more attacking with spectacular results. Anyone can learn to play at a higher pace, cut the ball off/not let it go to the back wall as much, and hit harder and lower, putting opponents under more pressure. Elias certainly has the skill and speed to do so and if he can make these improvements, he will see the results, just as Coll has.

    Editing is very poor at times. The front camera is no good. Backhand camera angle missed entirely Elias’ cross court nick. Bottom line, if you can’t see where the ball hits the front wall, you are not really watching the game. You’re only watching technique and foot work for your own training.

    At 10 all Diego doesn’t call his double bounce pickup and then does a soccer dive?? Out of character but asal was starting to use pushing tactics but Diego was also starting to get over sensitive even when asal did nothing wrong at times. Video ref has mitigated this mostly but it’s such a weakness of squash as a game that gamesmanship and subjective decisions makes only a handful of referees in the world able to judge fairly on high level games. There’s just too much subjectivity. Still love the game of course.
