  • The Black Label Society Zakk Wylde sound. The most critical part of his rig is the Electro Voice 12L speakers. Without them it’s impossible to get a BLS tone. He was using celestions, but he kept on blowing them so his tech recommended the EVM12L’s because they are 200 watts, and very heavy. Big ass magnets. If you need a good workout load up your 4x12 cabinets with EV speakers and haul them to all your gigs.
Compared to the Celestions they are chunky AF and way bigger, thicker and stronger sounding. Big low end rumble, solid strong mids and a dark top end that is someone metallic sounding. Overall they sound deep, mean, and massive. Which is what I’m sure Zakk was going for.
ML Sound Lab only has one cabinet loaded with the EVM12L’s. They are saying it’s a rare 80s made for Mesa loaded in “A” cabinet. Not sure if they are in the Mesa or Marshall because they info is vague. So the tone here is a bit different than Zakk, but you can clearly hear the impact the EV speakers are having on the tone.
