Love this channel! So glad he’s friends with Matt’s Off-road Recovery or I’d never of found this channel.
I got notifications for both channels this morning and I watched the one first.
This rig is gonna be SICK!
Suggestion - use a steel yardstick (or thin flat steel stock) as a guide for accurate and smooth curves when you're getting ready to mark the original sheet metal fenders for cutting.
It bends in a consistent curve each time.
We've used this technique for years.
3/4 or 1" wide steel banding works well for that.
I’ve looked forward to this video all week! Matt will be jealous of your radiator solution!
Paul, just make sure the A/C works and the gas filler/sending unit all works reliably. You can give Matt some grief just to mess with him a little bit. If friends don't mess with each other, they're probably mad about something. That MORRVair is quite a project. This Yoda will make a good match when you guys get out in the boonies with your friends.
Hi Michelle,
Love the build. Everyone in my circle of friends knows what FJ Friday is!
Lots of good choices are being made here. And I'm glad you are considering adding skid plates to the rock sliders... just no dimple die holes to hang up on. The bottom ought to be smooth as a baby's butt!
I can't wait to see the front fenders being made.
Love how you do more than most youtubers do in a single day, and instead of just 1 day showing multiple in 1 video and proceed to say did not do enough the other day 😂. What a machine.
Make a removable heavy wall reservoir between the front shock mounts for your hydro steering. Doubles as a shock brace
Looking killer! Good call on square and rec tube! Looking forward to seeing this one flexed out somewhere 🤙🏻
Paul, ur a beast when it come to fabricating. This is totally ur vision and every day it's becoming a reality. Your doing an amazing job. Always waiting for the next video. Thanks for ur time and bless u and ur family(dog and cat too)... Stay classy Paul. greetings from San Diego California.
It’s coming along nice, that radiator setup is pretty sweet I’m looking forward to the next FJ video.
It was SO satisfying to watch the whole radiator mounting fall into place so perfectly.
Getting those plans out of your head and into the real world takes time.
Good job changing imagination to reality 👍👍
Gotta say, I wasn’t stoked about cutting up a FJ45 (my dream pickup), but this is turning out sweet.
I just wish we had more reproduction chassis around for stuff other than 60's American cars. I definitely think these days there is enough of a market for it. I also cry when I see rare chassis cut up.
There are just so many old cars that are just gonna disappear but we could legitimately be reproducing these things again. I can't wait to see what this looks like when it's done, it really is sweet.
That FJ body looks awesome. The Rock Slider design looks great to. I can’t wait to see the fenders tied in that rig is going to perform very good. Good Job Paul.
Another great watch from the FabRats Garage!!!
Thanks for bringing us along for the ride, Paul...
Sending Prayers Love and Light 🙏❤🌟
convert your shop lights to led and you will never hear that humming again best thing I ever did
It's in the works
They sell bulbs that work with the ballast fixtures... eliminating the buzzing by simply swapping bulbs.
Ain't nothin an old country boy can't do once he puts his mind to it. Some with little or no formal training. Give em a tool and they will figure it out. Paul fits this description. Love seeing this build progress.
The rock sliders look amazing! Starting to see your vision for this build more clearly, it’s going to be a beaut!
Thank you for explaining the radiator placement from last time! I wondered about that and didn't want to be one of the choir about it because I BELIEVE IN YOU, DANGIT.
Thanks for the super satisfying content! It's so refreshing to see a great shop family be excited about finally being able to do what they love for a living.
Some riv-nuts would be a good call for that top radiator mount. No need to worry about fishing out a nut and washer on the backside! It'll work either way!
When it goes in for the last time it will get them
Love the cruiser build you've gone to town on it can't wait to see it finished an on the tracks ..an Eds old stockman will be another great ride just remind him that it's got more horse power than 30 od years ago .great show .
Great job as always Paul. Love watching the master at work.
I love this build man! There is NO better rig than a classic Toyota with a capable, well made drive line like you're doing! GREAT WORK!
I enjoy your process. It's easy to follow and never boring. I look forward to these build videos! Thanks! 👍👍👍
I know you are receiving quite a few suggestions but figured I would add one. Maybe don't weld the box and cab together via the rock sliders. During heavy articulation or high impact, the twisting in the frame may cause buckling and warping of the body panels. Thanks for the wonderful videos! Cheers from Canada!
For to see some of this first hand. Love it. Inspired some of my builds I am going to do. Thanks for the visit and inspiration.
You are such the character when your working. hand the guy a price for having a personality. great videos. :-)
I'm not stupid "bigmouth" enough, to give you my perspective about your job.
As a Commercial Engineer, you amaze me with your ideas and solutions to every problem you face along the way of your dream.
I could call you " the man of steel"!!!
You guys are awesome! Thanks for turning the volume down on the saws and torches!
OH NO!! I'm 10 minutes in and really I miss the noise!!! 😱😭😢 I just can't be pleased!!! I'm sorry, Michelle!
Coming along nicely. The radiator mounting was sweet! Enjoy your videos, thanks for sharing!
I replaced 36, 48" fluorescent tubes with 27, 48" ballast bypass led tubes (6000K) in my 24x36 garage. Daylight temps, brighter, less watts and longer lifetime for about $150. Had to rewire the fixtures. Awesome results. Never looked back. Oh Yeah. No Hum!! Love your videos. Can't wait for the next one
When you are doing these projects, you build parts and build parts, and can't see any progress, then once you get a bunch of parts built, you put them all together and are amazed how much you got done.
People may talk trash about you cutting up a classic Toyota but once it's done there won't be a single one that didn't wish it was theirs.
I wish I had a shop and tools like yours so I could build my own projects, : ) Building is a huge part of the enjoyment.
I really like how Paul self coaches himself along as he progresses. I think I'll start doing that even though I don't have a camera.
I love your shop!
I have fluorescent lights like that in my shop and I got so tired of replacing bulbs and ballasts. So I bought drop in LED tubes for the fixtures. They run off of 110 volt so you just have to bypass the ballast. It's been 2 years and I've never had to do any maintenance on my shop lights and do not expect to do any soon. And the new LED bulbs draw only 15% the fluorescence energy used.
Hope this helps. 💡🌞
In a work environment with lots of flourescents eg large retail, they are ongoing work starters, ballasts and tubes. The worst I had was a ballast that char started a small fire.... not fun.
Halogens had their own problems, transformers, push in or screwed in fittings burning out...
LEDs are relatively simple, now cheap, great light, cheap to run and generally reliable, no brainer...
Hey Paul & young helpers
Good to see the FJ progressing.
This is going to be a great off road vehicle.
Missed seeing the lovely Michelle this video.
Hope she is well.
love this build. Very cool to see how different people tackle fab'n stuff up.
Really love watching the thing come together! Awesome to see your process and how you apply your knowledge.
I really enjoy watching your hard work turn your imagination into awesomeness!
Seeing this brings Me back Memories when I worked with Howard Jackson in Fabricating square tubing. Miss that type of work.
Paul, I supposed to be replacing a head gasket on the daily driver but I'm watching you work on the FJ. Life is good.
This thing is going to be RAD! I wish I had 1/2 the metal fab skill that Paul has.
Love the build can’t wait to see it done keep up the good work and thank you to you and the family for the amazing content
Another great video! Love they way you design and engineer as you go along. This thing is going to be radical! I have a dream project no one here will touch and I know you would make it look "easy peasy". Some day (when I have funds) I'll be sitting in front of your shop early one morning, lol.
Looking good, some excellent fab work as always, cant wait to see it when its finished 👍😎
Love watching you work !
"Give it a Whirl !" 👀👍🏻
Forget about any haters. Most of us know that the FJ will end up better than original. Personally I’m looking forward to watching the “Fab Rat”style come to life!😎✌🏻
Looking good paul. I love to see an artist at work. I learn alot by watching your channel. Thankyou.
I love this build series ! thx for all the hard work :D
It’s coming along quite well. It’s gonna be sick!!! Can’t wait to see it in the rocks!!!!
“Thanks for shopping” love it, and love the stuff he builds.
Man your FJ is coming out sick Paul . I love to fabricate so I can appreciate what you are doing with your build . Keep up the great work and I'm looking forward to your next video . Take care sir.
Man this build is awesome!! Loving the progress, and the vision. The bed and tailgate turned out great!
Looking good. Love that you decided to keep square angles.
I really like your radiator containment system, putting those boys to work is probably the best thing that ever happened to them! Thanks for sharing, Play through.
Amazing work Paul! Thank you for the show
Loved that "whatever dad" look from the candy shopper hehe.
Hey Paul & Crew !!! Great fab job as always !!! Thanks for videoing & sharing with the viewers !! Have a good week & ""KEEP IT SAFE ""!!
That radiator mounting looking so satisfying, great work Paul! and with support of the wee sweet muncher son and Scout! 👍🇮🇪
It's always relaxing to watch you work. I admire your skill, determination, and get'er doneness. I know it can seem like a never ending project sometimes but just remember that it is just an elephant that needs to be eaten. (?) And just how do you eat an elephant you may ask? One bite at a time my friend, One bite at a time. Ya'll be good now.
You guys do some amazing restoration work and custom builds!!!💯😃💪❤👍
My wife and I have been watching yours and Matt’s channels all week, we really enjoy you two’s channels keep up the great content,
Working in a business environment for success 💯.. You take the time to mess up or do something right until you're in a struggle.. Plenty of good minds here with you and support is no worries. Love yall.. It's looking great.
Looks awesome!!! Can’t wait to see the finished product. Please cover the intake. Probably fine, but just one piece of metal flung up there…
Paul, something I've found that makes marking steel for fab work easier is a Markal Silver-Streak pencil. Fits in your pocket and marks like soap stone, but is always sharp and doesn't break. I love mine. Awesome job on this build. Thanks for all of the awesome ideas, I'm currently gathering parts and trying to come up with a plan for my build. This thing looks awesome 👍
Do you mean the wooden or the mechanical version? I am using the wooden ones but thinking about upgrading to the mechanical pencils so I don't have to sharpen it. It also sounds like it marks better on less than idea metal surfaces.
@@ToddKing I have the blue mechanical version. The insert is around 3/32" thick but can be sharpened with the cap on the pencil. It marks most metal as long as it isn't greasy
Great radiator mount build and the sliders are looking good so far.Keep up the great day Paul. Thanks for sharing.☺️☺️☺️👍👍👍👍
You're gonna love this thing too much to rock crawl with it :D. I predict you are gonna be crawling along and you'll have to tell one of the passengers to hop out and put a blank over a quarter panel to prevent scratches lol.
wow, this is turning into the most beautiful rig!! Thanks Paul and Family for the AMAZING content. This and Matts is really the only reason I come to CZcams. Ever think about Rumble or Odysee for video uploads?
Awesome progress on the buggy Paul!! Man I can’t weight to see it all finished up and ready to roll out and onto some gnarly hills!!! Awesome work buddy!!!
"Let's see if I can remember how to weld." Hey, Paul, I know where you can find a good welder to help you out! Not sure how Matt would feel about Lizzy doing your work for you though! 😁🤣
And Lizzy has all new welding gear so she's good to go!
Paul That fj45 is going to look so good when you are done, you're a master at fabricating and making your vision come to fruition it will be one bad ass rock crawler for sure, Can't wait to see the finished product. Hi Michelle!!
It's amazing watching you work, what talent and skills you have. I really enjoy your videos, thanks!
Love this project cant wait to see it on the trails.
Because it's his dream truck !
I wished I had the time to build something like this. Very one of a kind and functional. Great content as always
Brilliantly done. Looking sweet.
Paul is the definition of “getting after it”. Well done sir 👍🍻
Awesome work Paul, brilliant
If you weld the rock sliders to the frame and the body, what happens when the frame flexes and body mounts flex? Won’t you eventually buckle and rip the sheet metal???
When I'm finished it won't flex
Yeah I agree, shouldn't weld body to frame.. good luck, definitely will be interesting to see what happens
It is like welding the body to the frame a bit dodgie here
All frames flex to some degree. I hope it works out for you. Are you using any body mounts? Those will flex too.
It looks good. I can't wait to see the finished product!!
Sir, Very impressed with your Rock Sliders ( FAB WORK ). I have a 97 ZJ that needs Rockers + LOL & I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT WELDING. What type of welder are you using for connecting the Sliders to the Body ? I am going to teach myself how to weld. I LAUGHED MY BUTT OFF AT YOUR DAWG, IT'S BEEN A LONG TIME SINCE I'VE HEARD SOME ONE CALL A DAWG A " POOCH ". MY DOGS ARE MY LIFE NOW SINCE MY WIFE DIED & IF IT WASN'T FOR ME DAWGS, THEIR UNCONDITIONAL LOVE, " I WOULDN'T BE HERE ". THANK YOU, SIR. Henry from N.E. PA.
Coming out awesome Paul! Putting in the work and it shows!
I love this build. One of my all time dream vehicles getting built like I would build it if I could!
FJ is looking fantastic Paul! Thumbs up! 👍
Looks like another job well done , can't wait to see how runs .
Loving the new video schedule and obviously the videos! Thanks guys :)
A AWESOME JOB. As usual. Back in my Younger days I to used to build things in my shop. I wish I would have had a Lift for the trucks & cars I worked on though.
Can't wait to see the finished product, that things Badass !
This FJ rock crawler is going crazy. The stones get out of the way when they see the FJ coming ;-)
Glad I started watching your channel , I came from Matt’s channel and you guys are 2 of my favorite you tubers , hope I can road trip to Utah sometime and see you guys
Your skills are incredible! Love your channel! Love the way your boys work with you!
Your tig welding looks great! It’s coming together!
Can't wait to see Paul manage the kids doing the builds 😁
You should add "GET AFTER IT" on your merchandise. That would be cool!
Your a artist in your own right , Great work , enjoying the channel from the UK 👍👍👍
It's coming along nicely!
I learn something every episode. Even when you make a mistake, I still learn something Paul.
I guess it's a good thing your Vlogs aren't any longer cuz I'd never get anything done. The
FJ will be awesome.
That turned out great kinda how I did my setup on my rig... I'm looking forward to the slider setup end result , it's nice that you can trim the body up and not ruin any structure , older rigs definitely have there advantages... Fender design's going to be fun I bet !!
Great vids Paul and Michelle and families!! Thanks eh!! from Canada!
Sweet! Keep em coming Paul!
Loving the build.
Fabrication from scratch always takes twice as long. Especially when it's in your head and not on paper. Looks good 👍👌.
