From what I can understand is
Chapter 1 - 4 is about exploring the kindergarten.
Chapter 5 is a prequel.
Chapter 6 - 7 is about finding the scepter piece to defeat Sir Dadadoo and Naughty ones.
Chapter 8 is about finding the origin of blue banban and red banban.
I think what sets it apart from poppy playtime and bendy is that they seem to be focused on keeping the hype train going as long as possible, given the shorter dev time per chapter (The break between 6 and 7 is the biggest to date). I think Poppy Playtime waiting a whole year before chapter 3 came out was a good idea, really, since it meant the controversy with the devs and banban had blown over by then and wasn't there to hamper the good reception that it got (I think that chapter 2, when divorced from the devs, is a great horror game).

I love how the entire driving force of this game is to find your child, and that after seven chapters and a year of work, we still don't even know the name or gender of the main character's kid. There's just, like, no attempt to build an emotional connection at all. This game is gonna end with someone asking you to pick your kid out of a crowd and the main character is going to start sweating.
Or they'll do something even stupider, like imply that they put your kid's brain in the drone or something and he's been with you all along.
We still don't know who exactly the protag is or how long the kids have been missing.
Finally someone realized that the more this chapter goes, the more we forget about our main task. TO GET THE CHILD
Like there's not even a single dialog where the main character takes a second to ask "have you seen my child?" We only know that the Stinger has something to do with the kid's secret place but we will never make our chance to say "how do I get there?" The main character at this point is just accepting that (users) trust this madness ahead.
The games plot is told to you, it's to get to the beach, but the journey to the beach is always nonsensical and at some point something weird happens and you crash, the game reveals this plot to you to show you the entire plot of the story and outcome and even characters mention The Beach. It is the developers way of saying there is no plot or outcome, it is a perpetual limboistic journey where you search for some non existent child in random ways but never reach it because at some point you get distracted and Banban goes evil mode and you crash (literally the ending of every chapter is some kind of crash or violent cliffhanger).
Before Banban the devs mainly made surreal, avant garde, symbolic or thoughtful games that had a kind of dreamlike property to them and I unironically think after the pushback on the first two episodes they tapped back into those roots and decided to make the game some kind of limbo inside joke that perpetuates as long as people buy it. The Jellyfish appearing every time to "Show you something you need to see" is the key to that since the visions are consistent. Everything else is a very loose skeleton stretched out of what was probably supposed to be like 3 or 4 games now over the span of infinite potential games.

We know the MC’s kid is a boy, he’s drawn himself relatively masculine to his crush Claire, and used pink to signify that Claire’s a girl. My only thing is that he’s in kindergarten, so how has developed a crush when he can barely write?

It’s like a DND campaign with a DM who sucks at storytelling, and none of the players listen to him anyways; they’re all trying to derail the plot into significantly different directions.
(We’re lucky there’s no Bard trying to romance Stinger Flynn.)
I would just like to remind everyone that this massive expanse of an underground setting is meant to be a *_KINDERGARTEN_* of some sort. I'm starting to think that the protag entered the original kindergarten, fell down an empty elevator shaft, and everything since then has just been a fever-dream like state of purgatory or even hell where the parent is doomed to endlessly search for a child who can *_never be found._*
I feel like that would be such a good idea if only it wasn't executed so damn poorly in the current game

I've long given up on this game making a lick of sense. With each new installment, this feels less and less like a Bendy/Poppy Playtime clone and more like we're tumbling down the rabbit hole with Alice.

The race between the devs dragging out the maps vs the players trying to finish it under time to refund cannot be understated and I don't know why more people don't appreciate the sheer beauty of it.

I think the dev is just trying to be "interesting". The languages are completely random so there's no way they're trying to get across some message--the dev also isn't capable of nuance like that.
I like thinking about kids who are incredibly emotionally impacted by that death scene. Like this being their first time being exposed to media and this is the height of story telling for them

These games could end up creating a whole generation of horror fans by being baby's first spook-em-up. It's an interesting thought. I wonder how many kids will go on to make their own horror content, and what it'll be like if they get started so early. We may end up having to look back on these games with a grain of gratitude in ten years, if they're credited by some talented creators as their intro to horror.
The thought of this series being a child's exposure to horror is... surprisingly wholesome? I mean, a kid who is still naive to the world of gaming WOULD probably love this stuff. Ngl. This series has gained new value in my eyes for that alone.
I'd like to think they will one day come back to this and be like, "Wow, this is NOT how I remember it" lol

Garten of Banban hasn't been trying to be a serious horror franchise since the second game, and that's why it's so funny. I truly believe that these games are a prank the Euphoric Brothers are playing on all of us, and that these games are just going to get more ridiculous, incoherent, and un-scary until they end with the main character realizing they had the wrong address all along and their kid is actually next door at a totally normal kindergarten.

I dunno. The way all the characters in this game do a complete 180 whenever you do even the smallest task and go from being your doom to being the most helpful guys you ever met... I mean I get it the magic goo they are made of is supposed to drive them kind of crazy, but it annoys me from a writing perspective. It reminds me of when an anime forces a character to 180 their whole personality after something bad happens, that's not how humans work.

After thinking about it, I came up with three trains of thought that might be able to help with understanding the plot (if you care):
1. This whole game is a dream. What Stinger Flynn “shows” you is actually you waking up, but then a hallucination happens that causes you to pass out again.
2. Games 1-4 up to being knocked out by the Sheriff are all real and 6+ are a nightmare. Alternatively, you might still be unconscious after BanBan hit you in 2.
3. This is all a heroic quest being drawn up by your child and starring you as the main character.
ok but imagine if, at the end of all of this, we just find a corpse of a child and the credits start rolling

The VA has been one of the very few non-shoddy parts in this series. It always sound like someone is trying their best but the words always filter through a weird blobby technicolor thing with no facial expression. Who might be forcing you to listen by slowly walking down a ramp and making you wait.
This is the first time that a chapter doesnt have the ending where you go down the elevator. And this is the first time weve used opila bird chase ost since GOB2.

Before anyone claims this game series and/or its devs have “improved” or that they should get any admiration for continuing this series, just remember that currently to play this entire series is $35 USD and each game is deliberately made in such a way that it likely will not be completed before the cutoff to get a refund on Steam. I’d love to meet the person who would legitimately pay just the $10 necessary for any episode past the first if it wasn’t for the sake of content. The price for the entire Banban collection could easily purchase multiple high quality games of varied styles & genres from similarly sized or even solo devs that are filled with actual passion and respect for the player & their time. Heck if the draw is the absurdly funny nature, there are a multitude of games on Steam, Itchio and elsewhere just as ludicrous & surreal while also being fun to actually play & engage with. The only entertainment value that has come from the Banban team is getting to watch LPers like Manly play it as a lark & the only benefit of the ridiculous price is that at the very least a VA or two somewhere will at least get commission for contributing their voice to these travesties. Otherwise I have nothing nice to say about these games & judging by each subsequent episode release, I never will.
On the other hand, at this point, you know what you're getting into. If someone paid for one or two parts of this game and felt like they didn't get their money's worth, I absolutely feel for them for falling for this game's advertisements. But by game 7 if someone paid for all individual parts and then claim they're being scammed out of their money...idk man, I think that's on them, lol. I'm just here to enjoy watching LPers suffer.

To put that in perspective & sticking solely to horror or horror-adjacent games of varied genres: Pacific Drive, the weird horror driving sim that just came out is $30. World of Horror - the Junji Ito inspired mystery horror roguelike RPG is $20. OMORI - The Earthbound-inspired fantasy horror RPG is $20. FAITH The Unholy Trilogy is a complete version of the retro computer styled exorcism adventure game & it’s $20. Slay The Princess - a subversive horror Visual Novel is $18. Fear & Hunger and its sequel are Dark Fantasy Horror RPGs that come out to about $20 with zero discounts. The various games in the catalog of Chilla’s Art start from around $3 and peak at around $10 depending. Lobotomy Corporation - an SCP-inspired unthinkable horror facility management game with an enormous amount of depth & story and it is $25. Hell, SCP Secret Files one of the better SCP universe games is $15. The Horror Dating Sims in the Sucker For Love series come bundled at about $18 or around $23 if bought individually. My Friendly Neighborhood - The Sesame Street/Jim Henson-influenced Mascot Horror game that manages to do everything Banban attempts but better in every single aspect is $30. And all chapters of Poppy’s Playtime that have been released so far are around $25 all together a game which though I’m personally not a big fan of absolutely has better mechanics, puzzles & art design than Banban. There’s really just not a single bit of grace I’m willing to give these games when that alone is a fraction of what is out here.

The entire Garten of Banban series is a cycle of random fetch quests, backtracking, and what feels like stock 3d models poorly animated and shouting pretentious trite. Sandwiched in-between is backtracking to a degree that it feels malicious. I don't see this series ending and if it does, I hope it apologizes for wasting everyone's time. Banban continues to be amazingly bad, not even so bad it's good, it's just bad and it's absolutely overstayed it's welcome imo. Though I admit, hearing someone unironically yell 'get toasted' in a 'badass' moment was great.
All that said, watching you play was fun. You make the game mostly tolerable! Cracked a smile while you jumped around on the two models while bittergiggle had a soap opera moment.
All these installments, and I have no idea what’s going on or who is on our side.

Garten of ban ban is like a drug for me. I can’t get enough of it despite the terrible side effects it has on my well being
To everyone insulting the game and calling it bad you probably don't even know what the games are like to play or refuse to change your mind. GoBB VII is a well designed game that I and several others enjoyed playing.
