- I found some fun Christmas decorations & gifts while shopping at HomeGoods, Menards, Target, Gift Shops, & other fun stores! In this Christmas shopping haul video I'll show you a close-up look at what I found, including a Christmas village piece, some neat new & vintage ornaments, an adorable mouse towel, & other fun finds! I'm so excited to see all the holiday decorations in the stores and am happy to be getting more Christmas gift shopping done - including some for myself! I'm counting down the days to when we host our 2nd large family Christmas at our home & am slowly getting the house ready! Your story is both sad and heartwarming, and I know it is a parable, but I can't help but think of all the things that you have so carefully chosen for your home through the years. They seem to take on a kind of magic by being valued. The jacket you chose is a very good color for you, Christopher! We should never resist buying ourselves at least one gift at Christmas time. :)

As to your story, I have always felt that when someone makes something themselves they imbue it with a little bit of their soul. The blue vase suffered as anything or anyone does when it lacks a bit of nurture. We all benefit from a little positive reinforcement. This story reminds me of the book "Chrysanthemum". I read it to my 5th grade students at the beginning of the year to remind them that words matter and can be hurtful, but we are all special in our own way.

Your taste is exquisite, your decorating skills impeccable, your obvious love of family and friends heartwarming and the spirituality you expose in your love of little birds, nativity scenes, etc... even squirrels which I personally detest because they've been in my attic and are so destructive!!!! But the best is when your soul was revealed in the blue vase. So insightful and sensitive are you! I think we've all been blue vases. I love the ornaments you bought, especially the old vintage ones. I bought little PUTZ village houses in the summer at an antique store, then bought some more on Ebay. I also bought a bunch of vintage and new bottle brush trees. I totally forgot about them until we had the whole house decorated so I guess they will not go up this year. That might be a good thing because we adopted 2 kittens last February after we lost our Charley cat last December. Happily, they have not bothered anything we put out or the tree for that matter. But those little village houses are fragile they are so old, and I don't want to chance it. I loved that story: I would have bought the blue vase right off the bat as I love blue. It started to make my eyes water. Thanks for another good video.

Your story touched not only my heart but my soul deeply. You see this is what your story meant to me........I've been married for almost 30 years. I want for whomever reads my comment here to know that sometimes in marriage we rise in the morning and fall to night with our methodic daily routines. Sometimes kindness and patience falls through the cracks of the blue vase as mentioned in this story as we age. We lose patience and sometimes kindness. Our world has become a world of misfit toys, we, the people. We can become hardened to it and the people we love, and not meaning to at all. Day after day we crack slowly just a little bit more like the blue vase. We can fracture with our words of frustration upon the people we love the most when we become impatient and lose our tolerance of their handicaps and struggles in their life. Our kindness needs to rise above the misgivings and cracks before the shattering to pieces happens of no return. So, 30 years of marriage approaching, I need to think first then speak kindness, have patience and understanding on the fragile cracks that are showing on my husband physically and mentally. Asking God to give me the insight and strength to do so. Thank you Christopher for showing me my imperfect cracks and being brave enough to share this with your audiance.❤

Slowly going through your videos. I cried as you read the story Fractured. Maybe because it’s how I see myself. And there are so many times when I’m shopping that I’ll see an item that may look a little more worn, or may be the only one among a group of many similar things and I always gravitate towards that item. So many times I tell my husband, “I had to buy it. I fear it would be the only one not brought and would feel sad”. There was even a time I saw a family of thistle made deer, and they were so expensive. Husband said, “ just get the little one “. I gasped. “ I can’t take the baby away from its parents. I won’t break up the family “. On Christmas Day my husband gave me the whole family. I love them more and more every year.

I loved the story you read Christopher. It reminds me of a book I loved when I was little. It was called the ugly duckling. It was a swans egg that hatched amongst the duck eggs. The little swan didn't know it was a swan and it always wondered why it was ugly and not beautiful like its brothers and sisters, the ducks. The story ends with the ugly duckling turning into the most beautiful swan. I always thought negative of myself when I was young so I could relate. I'm a Christian now, and even though the world hates me, In Jesus I'm beautiful. Feel free to read another chapter in you book, I love listening to you read. Just beautiful. A lovely haul and the story from your book is wonderful. I cried through most of it and yet was uplifted in the end. I think to write a story such as this, you have to have had some experience in life that you pull from. I know that I can relate to the story on a personal level. I was always that bookish, nerdy type. Not pretty, didn't have a good figure, was an extreme introvert and always felt like I wasn't seen in a room full of people. Feeling that way has ramifications in your life. I was destined to marry the first guy who showed me any attention and it wasn't until I had my daughter that I knew unconditional love. It took a long time for me to come into my own and to value myself enough to not care what other people thought. I went to college, became an RN and spent my life helping others. I just retired after 45+ years in hospital practice. If I do say so myself, I was an excellent nurse and so many people benefitted from my dedication to my profession. I will purchase a copy of your book. I think I will really like it! Once again, have a wonderful holiday with your family and friends.

Your Christmas decor is just gorgeous! The Christmas village looks so pretty on the radiator with the trees behind it! Wow the beaded ornaments are beautiful; my daughters & granddaughters make ankle bracelets for the summer with beads like that so it gave me an idea?Your story about the blue vase is so warm hearted just like you are Christopher!
