Mental Models: TRANSFORM The Way You THINK

  • Mental Models are heuristics that help you navigate reality better.
    Driven by our insatiable hunger for self-transcendence, we become overwhelmed by the vastness of stimuli that bombards our somewhat limited cognition.
    We aim for coherence, but we get lost in abstraction, because we forget how to reason properly.
    Mental Models are, essentially, a secure pathway to think better and transition from abstraction to coherence.

    This comes at a relevant time for me. I really appreciate the vocabulary you employ and how you parse it to keep the narrative rolling along. Overall, deserves a few more watches. Thanks so much.

    These are very powerful mental models. And your way of presenting is always outstanding. Thanks for making and sharing this video.

      Its a wonderful and amazing book. Not a classic, unfortunately. Nietzsche is a classic in this context for "He was has a why to live, can almost bear any how." Socrates too a classic for his insistence on "Why?" And, they are debatable too. Choice of words mean a lot in contexts such as these mi amigo. BTW, I'm a fan of Simon Sinek and his works too. Start With Why & The Infinite Game (A spin on Game Theory). Classic is too big a word for it. More like redundancy in technicolour. They're beautiful too...

    Great vid - as usual! I often refer to myself as a pragmatist. However, thanks to your work, I think I might explore the mental models that you highlighted, especially that relating to pragmatism. Thank you! 🤘🏽

    I love what you are doing. It's work I have been doing a long time, though out of necessity, whereas you have managed to turn it into an opportunity for others to learn and follow along and support your journey, something I sometimes wish I could do. If you ever want to share thoughts and explore deeper with me, I'd love to meet in a discussion wherever suits you.

    I think this subject is quite related to the topic of learning and performance. Specifically, how mental models allow us to interact with complex systems and relate that to others.

    Don't write comments, write comments, don't join, ya better join. Na shout out to ya Metamorphosis, I feel like I'm doing my A1 mentor, Jordan, an injustice, betrayal 101 of sorts. Meta- you talk about, I think you said "transcending" when this takes place as I have been aware in the past, you say we can get overwhelmed deluding our perception of reality, inturn sending one mad, because you say one can't handle it. It seems that I can't ignore the constant preying, invading my work space, day to day, personal space, having to grin and bare it, not let on that I know so I that I can try and resolve it. With this going on it really is tiring at times, it gets the better of me, it seems to build up then when It happens, I notice all the little things they are doing, and than the drones they are relentless at times they just bug me. But that's the way it is. When I'm me in my own body without a care, that is, when I'm in complete ignorance mode, I can be involved. But sometimes it gets to much l worry about being stormed, I split in two, not equally, it depends on the noise their making but my willingness to keep leaning is present but my ability is far from capable very indecisive. I don't know why I can't brush it, I have had to look over my shoulder all my life basically walk on egg shells, you think I would be over it, what is it? 10 years. Maybe that in it's self, being that I can't resolve it tells that I'm not worthy. I just answered it, "oh the realisation". I thought I had insight, I know that now? I like your approach weather you home or away. Thanks.

    Andrian, I am really enjoying your videos. Specifically, the topics you cover and how you break them down. As an actor and a professional speaker, if I where to offer one suggestion it would be to speak slower. I like your intention, however I miss moments as you are speaking to quick. In addition, a number of the points you make are complex and would be much clearer and pointed if landed with more specific vocal inflection. I love what you are doing and will keep watching! Take Care, Darrin.

    • @metamorphosis_77
      @metamorphosis_77  Před 4 lety

      In such formats, i.e. video essays, the tempo is similar to mine. I could speak slower but I have done that in the past and I don't like it so much (check out my Machiavelli video). Also, when it comes to understanding complex topics, you need to re-watch the video. The tempo doesn't play much of a role. When I started watching Jordan Peterson, I had to re-watch most of his videos. Now I don't need to because I am familiar with most of his ideas. Thanks for the input though. :)
