Rad table build! I built one almost identical to this last year, but I actually laminated the tabletop with EVA foam and green felt to simulate a neoprene playmat. I then built a second better table for the practice and was able to sell it locally for a good little chunk of change. New side hustle unlocked, lol.
Nice build! I actually also just finished up building a D&D table with a TV in it, and also used deck posting for the legs. I've never seen any other table use deck posting for the legs, so it was neat to see that you had the same idea.
Note Deck posts are Pressure treated to be outside and could be toxic if chewed on my Pets or Small children LoL other options are also Most wood stores sells Pre-Turned Table legs.
@@Jeffs40K I honestly don't remember if the 4x4x8s I got were pressure treated or not, but I will put a note in the video description because I feel like this is important information.
I pretty much started with the simple design I demonstrated in photoshop. I built a rough 3d model in Blender that my friend refined using a CAD program. (Sketchfab I think?) From there, we were off to the races!
A note on your editing style. When you are explaining the location of things, don't have the entire model constantly spinning at the same time. It made me motion sick to try and follow. Otherwise, really cool build.
Spinning is bad. Can't see the details without going cross-eyed. Music is another thing. Unless it adds to the content. Save it for the intro/outro. In the middle, it just muddies up your dialog. Cool build.
Heyyy I found myself watching this video and didn't even realize who it was! I saw your logo at the end and was like, "wait a minute...' 😂 Well done! One of my next few videos is going to be building another digital map display so I was perusing to see how others organized their videos. Sorry your first TV broke!
I sympathize. I picked up an inexpensive, used TV from kijiji for this very purpose. I went to meet the seller who plugged in the TV and showed it working properly. Then on the way home, it shifted, fell forward in my van and looked very much like yours did when I plugged it in at home. 😭
How many players sit around the table including the DM? I've been looking at making something like this but we have 8 total people that need to fit around it (one side is taken up by the DM).
This particular table holds only six. Two on each wide side, and one on each end. If you wanted to fit eight players, you could look at something like Critical Role's table for inspiration.
The next time you make something with a large slab like a table top I would suggest you not glue and screw it down to its base. You are asking for issues down the road as both the frame and top expand and shrink. I would suggest looking into z clips or figure 8 fasteners.
Really cool build. I just finished repurposing an old table for a build like this. I have a video on my channel, if you are interested. Next I want to build one from scratch.

Thank you! How are you enjoying your table? Any favorite software for displaying maps?

This is really great, did you use a program to plan it or did you wing it?
