I just picked up my 2024 cup at Six Flags over Texas this weekend. It fits somewhere around 24 oz, about the same if not exactly the same as previous years bottles. They were not scanning the bottles before refills, at least not yet. Freestyle machines were still good for us to fill our bottles on our own. The machines are right next to the register, so staff are able to see if we have the proper drink bottles. For last years bottle, I hated the top, so I quickly put a previous year's top on it that had the straw. The different color top also easily distinguished mine from everyone else's, which was very helpful after getting off a ride. So I'm doing that same top for this 2024 bottle, just to help distinguish it.
Just left Six Flags over Ga. There’s a chip in the bottom of the cup, under a sticker that says ‘Do Not Remove’. Once you place your cup onto the machine, it’ll allow you to refill the cup, but only once every 20 mins. This caused a lot of issues because ppl thought the machines weren’t working. If they paid attention, a message came on the screen telling them how long they’d need to wait before they could get the next refill.
I don’t know if any of you guys notice this but the straw from the bottle (six flags bottle straw) can be used as a straw flute if you blow into the straw, it can make a sound
I am assuming they are dong this to crack down on the drink stealing that I’ve seen. The two scams dishonest guests do at SFSTL are: 1. Buy a single-day cup and then use it all season instead (self-serve). 2. Just use a previous season’s passholder cup. Why pay ever again? If SF needs the money, I support this. SF is still such an amazing value, even without stealing from the park.
People are still able to do this because at the Six Flags I'm near which is in Gurnee Illinois they ran out of the all-day drink cups the green one and they started giving people the orange season cup at the 1999 price that was a lick some people were getting the season pass cup for the price of the drink pass cup they realize they're mistake cuz we went back the next day and they told people that they couldn't have the orange cups anymore but we already had our cups from last year so we just use those
Also I really hope they put a register next to the drinks and still have a drink refill only line. I’m not trying to wait in line for an hour+ for a drink. That’s too long.
I don't know I like the cup from last year with the metal Tumblr I do like the straw but this cup the drink does not stay cold I think it's trash on that end this is like a cup you can find from Five Below I like the metal tumblers that they had all they have to do is put a straw to it and that would have made it perfect
Thanks for the info! If the new bottles come with a QR code as pictured, why would they need to scan passes? Also, if these can't be used at free-standing machines, is the idea that free-standing machines would only be usable with a daily purchased cup? That would be quite odd.
I'd imagine that the 2024 cup's QR codes would be scanned, as people who don't necessarily have a pass can buy them. I believe only people with memberships would need to have their passes scanned, though we won't know for sure until more information is released!
I went 2 days ago and got the 1-day cup (Its Green instead of Orange) and this might sound weird but: Is it Dishwasher safe? just wondering since I've been using it outside of the park and find it very handy to put my water into it and drink from that, especially if I go on walks in the summer heat
What I really want to know is how season passes will work once the Six Flags/Cedar Fair merger begins. There's a chance I'll be visiting Michigan's Adventure, Cedar Point, Knott's Berry Farm, Six Flags Magic Mountain, and their respective waterparks next summer. A pass for all those parks and with parking included sounds like the best deal for me.
Nothing is happening to passes to at least 2025. You will need to buy a Cedar Fair pass with Passport to get into multiple Cedar Fair parks in 2024 & buy a SF Diamond pass or have a a legacy membership to get into multiple Six Flags parks in 2024

First, most people will have bought their passes for 2024 by then & it would bad business to give away access to the other chain for a pass meant for 1 chain. Second, this isn't done till it's official & closes. FTC needs to approve and they have scheduled audits of each individual parks financials to check them to what was presented as a whole during negotiations. The initial SEC filing with details is 150+ pages and the S4 filing is another 160+ pages. There are outs in this deal for both sides if something comes up. Deals are not done till they close, making plans of access before hand in regarding to other chains parks would be unwise financially if it the deal falls apart for some reason.

I heard there’s a coupon in your six flags portal & you just go up to a concession/drink stand & they’ll scan your membership so you can get your free season sports bottle
The cup is HORRIBLE, i carry my own and my partners in a backpack on the side pockets and when we stop somewhere and I take the bag off, sometimes I lay the bag down and the drink goes everywhere cause it LEAKS!!! Soo I went and bought a cheap 10 dollar water bladder and I just pour the drinks into that now after I get them filled.
Seems like a tremendous waste of cups and plastic giving all members a new cup for 2024 especially if they have a perfect good red cup to use. Are they going to do this every year? We have six original red membership cups with straws and six metal tumblers. Only reason I see this is because the cups will be smaller and save money filling up but then again more people will be refilling more often leading to longer lines for drinks and food even if they implement the 20 minute cool down.

I think going back with the straw is a good idea and the design is pretty cool.
