That's Sammy Hagar on vocals dear😉
Love the fact that it's 2024 and people still asking "is that a guitar " Eddie's still amazing people from the great beyond. R.I.P
Eddie
❤️ best ever!!
Well said. I've been listening to and learning his stuff for 25 years, and I still feel the same way. A true legend.
Him or Randy Rhodes either one is a choice you can defend.
But this was a great era for the band.
I think of the Blue Angels from the video everytime i hear this. To me, this song is a gem and top 10 VH for me.
Hell yeah!!
That entire album is fire.
The best part was when she said that David's vocals were amazing.
Sammy will be glad to hear this
Could you image DLR trying to “sing” this? 😂
DLR could only ‘dream’ of being able to sing this.
Oh you haven’t heard much of Eddie have you?
LOL😂
Good reaction 👏🏼👏🏼
David Lee Roth in an Interview described it like this " Sammy is always talking bout love And I Ain't talking bout Love" 😂😂
No Dave all you do is talk through the songs and they are usualy covers not originals
All of those "weird sounds" are Edward Van Halen being the master of hard rock and metal guitar. This particular song was EVH and Sammy Hagar creating late 1980s MAGIC. I heard this on the radio late one night around 1990 and made me learn guitar. I later went to Van Halen's 1996 Balance tour as a teenager and weeks later bought a Peavey Wolfgang. Still have it and still play it today.
I'll never forget you, Edward. Thank you for everything.
Can't absorb this song without seeing the Blue Angels flying. (The original with A-4s)
YES!!!!
F-4 Phantoms
in the "Dreams" video he is correct...they are A-4s@@ethanmurray2203
This was the first album of the Sammy Hagar era, & my favourite VH album. I played it so much in the car, I wore out the cassette.
Thank you. This brought a smile to my face 😁
The BEST era.
@@user-tr9de6gm8k Agreed! 👍🏻 🤘🏻
The greatest guitarist!
Also Van Halen's first #1 album..(sorry David)
@@ethanmurray2203 A first #1 album almost 10 years into a bands career usually means you sold out and went into pop music. Which is what they did.
This song makes me cry. I loved those days SO MUCH!!
That guitar sound was all Eddie Van Halen. What a genius!
Hi
This was Sammy Hagar on vocals and 5150 was Van Halen’s first album with Sammy after parting ways with David Lee Roth.
David Lee Roth is absolutely a great frontman and I love the Van Halen albums with him as lead vocalist.
Sammy is also an awesome frontman with a much better voice, hands down!
The songs with Sammy have more depth, substance and also include more collaboration than previous Van Halen albums with David.
Sammy in the studio and especially live adds more energy and positivity within the band than with David Lee Roth.
Sammy was not afraid to perform David Lee Roth era songs and the band performed songs from Sammy’s solo career. A great example of the latter is a 1989 performance in Tokyo of “There’s Only One Way To Rock” with Eddie and Sammy both playing guitar.
Thanks for sharing your reactions to various bands/vocalists. It’s fun to see you discovering these new songs to you!
This song was very uplifting. Sammy Hagar was a very positive person and brought a lot of positive energy with him when he joined VH. A great song to listen to on your way into the office so you don't come in like a psycho that just sat in traffic for an hour and a half.
Love that you did this reaction. I'll always have a soft spot for this song, as it played during the credits of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers movie.
Same! The Power Rangers Movie introduced me to Van Halen with this song.
@@saxelitesame here! Instant nostalgia!
Same! That's where I first heard this song as well!
Love that you did Dreams, it's truly one of my favorites from Van Halen's Sammy Hagar era.
Make sure you see the video of the Blue Angels with this playing. The music and aerial stunts are sinked very well.
One of many posts you're going to get asking you to react to Eddie's live solo of Eruption now. lol. Yes, that was his guitar and he did amazing things with it.
Arguably the best song on that album.
"When It's Love" is also good. And of course "Jump".
The video with the Blue Angels is super 🔥
The notes you're referring to in the solo are tapped harmonics, a trick Ed used quite a bit in different songs.
It's one of his most distinctive "tricks" I think-- If you hear that kinda of sound, you can almost be sure Eddie's playing it. It's a difficult technique to get right every time, and he just had it absolutely mastered. You fret a note normally, and then you tap the string at JUST THE RIGHT SPOT to cause the vibration to change frequency, but not mute out. It's SO difficult, especially in the middle of a solo.
Roth or Hagar? It's an endless debate and there is no wrong answer. Both were excellent lead vocalists and brought their own energy and charisma to the band. I personally love both and find it tiresome and unnecessary to say one was superior to the other.
Dreams is an amazing song, mainly the syntethizers, I really love this. Great reaction Ray.
You should watch the live version of "Eruption" to see everything Eddie can do with a guitar
This is Sammy Hager on vocals. Montrose and solo career before VH.
BONK! Apologies!
@@rayactions Sammy Hager has some fun songs from his solo career.
@@rayactionsYeah, if you like Sammy's voice his earlier work is excellent, as well. Montrose's first album is soooo solid. Pick a tune, any tune. Sammy always had a positive attitude, it seems, as it shows in that work, as well as in his solo career. Check out his solo tunes "Give to Live" and "Where Eagles Fly" for some inspiroction. 😂😂😂
My favorite song and favorite album of all time. I have both signed by Sammy, my absolute favorite items I own
The car alarm sound was one of Eddie’s many trademark licks & tricks. He’s playing all keyboards too
A great all time rock song❤ sammy is one of the best pure rock vocalists ever❤
When you get a chance check out the Blue Angels in the original video for this song. Perfect visuals to go with this energetic, upbeat song. Btw, this is Sammy Hagar on vocals. This is "Van Hagar," VH post David Lee Roth.
You should watch and react to EVH's guitar solo on the 'Live Without a Net' video, it's THIRTEEN MINUTES of 'how is that sound coming out of a guitar?'
I was thinking the same thing. After her description of the solo just tells me she needs more EVH in her life
@@batwings388 EVERYONE needs more EVH in their life.... 😉😜
After my final road march in Basic Training this was played after the Star Spangled Banner and God Bless the USA. I still get goosebumps.
Great reaction! Van Halen is my favorite band of all time. Suggest reacting to live recordings, they have a LIVE album called "Right Here, Right Now" that really captures the band's energy and sounds so much better than the studio versions. Thanks for doing this and look forward to more.
such an awesome song this is couldn't be more right and you can definitely dance to this its a nice balance between light and dark
Your enjoyment of great music that i also enjoy just gives me happiness! I love your opinions and everything you share! Keep it going girl!!
This song instantly takes me back to 1986. This album was everything. A new direction for Van Halen and this album was everywhere. Total banger from start to finish.
Pretty sure the actual video uses the blue angels for footage
Van Halen are masters of having a verse in a minor key followed by a chorus in a major key. Tickles the ears juuuuuust right every time.
This made me so happy. Anyone who hated Hagar over Roth is clueless. Oh add in the GOAT on guitar Eddie Van Halen, pure awesomeness. RIP GOAT EVH
This song forever. LG
Great reaction Ray!!! So much fun.
Eddie van Halen had the greatest ability to make sounds come from his guitar that defied what a guitar could sound like which made him one of if not the greatest guitarist if you want an example google the live version of Eruption to see his talent
This was a big album for VH fans and aloty of us loved it! We love you''re reactions because you are so honest with them...keep on jammin Ray !!!!!!!
I've never been a fan of van hagar. Individually very talented musicians but together I just don't care for it.
I love seeing the younger generation discover great music from the 70s and 80s….i remember being in the military and jamming to this song when I was getting ready to go hit the town !..great memories !
This is a great album to play in the summer when you're driving to the beach. Have awesome memories with the album.
This album came out when DLR left Van Halen & they got Sammy Hagar as their new lead singer. I've seen them both live with VH and I always described it this way Dave was always about being a showman & his vocals were ok but Sammy was a an actual musician. Sammy's vocals live were always on point. There is a live video of Van Halen in Toronto from 1995 of them doing Dreams & is an awesome performance. You should check it out. ✌️ & ❤
You should check out the version of this song with The Blue Angels.
Van Hagar era, Eddies best moments playing the synthesizer a lot in this album 😊
This has been my favorite song of all time since I first heard it in 5th grade when this album released.
It's my favorite song by vh. BTW the singer is Sammy hagar he replaced dlr in about 1986 and this was their 1st album together.
. AW SUCH A HAPPY REACTION VÍDEO 🤗
the notes you mention is common with Eddie Van Halen, who loved to add arpeggios into his work. And yes, it was his guitar. Eddie was THAT good.
Yes, that sound during the guitar solo was done on the guitar. That specific part is called tapping. He is tapping on the frets while bending up the strings in the left hand.
The guitar and sounds are all Eddie and this is Sammy Hagar singing. David Lee Roth was the singer until 1985, Dave was great but he never had the vocal range Sammy had. Michael Anthony was the awesome bassist with absolutely amazing vocals too, Eddie's brother Alex was the awesome bombastic drums that held it all together! You should watch Best of Both Worlds from the Live Without A Net DVD and Eddie's guitar solo, one of the best solos of all time.
great reaction. This was Sammy Hagar on Vocals. He took over vocal duties in this album.
Sammy "the Red Rocker" Hagar on vocals ...& Eddie more refined on guitar & killing the keyboard
oh my goodness!
best of them
This was the soundtrack to my high school football days. Needless to say, I have fond memories of those days.
This one's fun to play! 🥁🥁🔥
A world without Eddie Van Halen is like a car with no gas.
This was one of my favorite Van Halen songs when I was...11 or 12? Love Sammy on the vocals.
to me the best way to hear this song is with the blue angles video its so darn cool
Song was at the end of the power rangers movie. Always a goated song!
Eddie Van Halen on lead guitar Alex Van Halen on the drums Micheal Anthony on bass guitar and Sammy Hagar on lead vocals
There will always be those that are divided between Dave and Sammy, I for one loved them both, because they were the right fit for their respective time. Great review, I wish you had done the one with the Blue Angels video though, for me personally it evokes so much nostalgia.
This song was played in the opening ceremonies at the 1988 Olympics with over a Billion watching
Most VH purest hate this era of the band but musically they were never better.
In the 90's got even better, F.U.C.K. and Balance
You’re listening to one of the greatest guitarist ever Eddie Van Halen, who is also playing the synthesizer. He passed away a few years ago to cancer. RIP
Great driving fast song!
This song has been one of my favorites since The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers movie. Yes I'm old and yes IT'S MORPHIN TIME+
The flashdance moves nailed it lol
Eddie said that Hagar's increased vocal range is what led him to come up with stuff like Dreams. He said he wouldn't have even attempted to present this song when DLR was still in the band.
So much better with Sammy Hagar! David could NEVER write something like this let alone sing it!
This song is about hope, despite our trials and tribulations. I love it!!! This album, 5150, began the Sammy Hagar era with VH. P.S. The guy holding up the world is none other than Lou Farigno, the original Incredible Hulk from the late 70's.
Rick Valente
This song will always bring me instant nostalgia! It was played during the end credits of the mighty Morphin power rangers movie! I would watch that movie over and over as a kid so this song is a big point of nostalgia to me!
Everytime I hear this song, it reminds me of the ending credits of the first Power Rangers movie. Classic
You have to watch the video with the blue angels demonstration team.
Was that an awesome guitar breakdown, awesome guitar solo? Surely it was!
Because, for the record, the guy who is playing is one of the greatest guitarists in Rock History, Eddie Van Halen! (R.I.P.)
I am very grateful to him - his guitar solos made my teenager days happier!
Although - I shall admit 2 things: that I've never been a Van Halen's huge fan; and that, when I was informed that Dave Lee Roth was no longer VH's vocalist and who was the new one, I didn't believe Sammy Hagar would make it.
But I was wrong, he did such a good job in this song and in another one - I strongly recommend that you watch the official music video of "I can't stop loving you".
This whole album is great ,!!
It’s Sammy not David
I still have this 5150 album on cassette 😂
Check out the official video. All the band members are geniuses.
This is my most favorite VH song and yes that sound was all guitar. The vocalist is Sammy Hagar. I would love to see you react to "Can't Stop Loving You." I think you would enjoy that one as well.
Maybe check out “Human Beings “ another great tune…bit darker in tone…
This song is such a bop!!!
That album cover was a play on the Greek god Atlas, who was cursed to have to hold up the world on his shoulders for eternity. In this case, it is Van Halen World, not just earth.
Fantastic reaction. Feels good to be hopeful sometimes. Please consider listening to, even if you don't do a reaction video for it, 'Love Walks In' off the same album 5105. It's musically great, and another lyrically uplifting jam.
-Insert Jaw Drop emoji.
Nice pick Ray!
This reaction makes me think you havent reacted to "Eruption" Live yet. You would know he was making all of those sounds with his guitar. I highly suggest it if you havent seen it yet.
VanHagar ;) . The "happy" is what drove the creative differences between Eddie and David. Personally I prefer their older darker material ... but its still Eddie ;) .
Alex's snare!
You have to listen to “End of the line” or “Northern Lights” by TNT
There is a guitarist that took things to another level of making unique sounds with the instrument; far beyond a "car alarm". His name is Tom Morello and played for Rage Against The Machine and Audioslave. You might find the vocalists of the 2 different bands also highly entertaining. Rage feature Zack de la Rocha, and Audioslave featured Chris Cornell.
Suggestions:
RATM featuring Maynard James Keenan - "Know Your Enemy"
Audioslave: "Shadow on the Sun"
Good morning:)
👍🏻
David’s vocals… 🤯
Sammy Hagar's vocals are fantastic in this song even though there was a lot to like with David Lee Roth's vocals and he was so athletic on stage and what more can people say about Eddie Van Halen he's a legend Sammy Hagar has a lot of other bands he's in plus he has some solo material also
Check out the live version of this song 1995 Toronto
Yes, that is Eddie Van Halen doing his thing on the guitar!
"Love walks in " is another good Sammy Hager song, you will like it
A summer song.
