      Apparently there are multiple endings. *SPOILER ALERT* On my last playthrough, my Pawn gave a more impassioned speech (because of our high affinity level). But once the dragon was downed, instead of villagers/townspeople rebuilding, I saw Sven take the throne of Vermund! Then, it ended with Captain Brant; and the Old Man Arisen sailing into the sea. So, apparently, the end-credit scenes change, depending on the quests you complete.

      You don't even have to play the game to learn the story. You only need to watch the playthrough in youtube to learn them. So it sounds like you want to be spoiled. I will grant your wish. False arisen is just some guy who pretended to be the real arisen. That guy called false arisen was never scratched by a dragon. He would just cut himself and use some kind of magical jewelry to fake being an arisen. He is just a guy who is taking credit for a work he did not even do.

      So far, Dragon's Dogma 2 is another alternate universe which means what is equivalent to having Seneschal is Pathfinder. This is just like DD1 where the arisen must kill Seneschal. In DD2, the arisen must kill Pathfinder. In a way, they may not have shown if the arisen died killing Pathfinder or the arisen becoming a Pathfinder.
      DD2 does have post game after all because as shown, the arisen returns home and get welcomed back as Sovran. Then the arisen must interact with Pathfinder and that is where the Pathfinder keeps telling the arisen the journey is not over.

      Most likely keeping the Seneschal shrouded in mystery. I mean look at look at 34:06. The arisen did not even stab himself with a godsbane. This does not even look like a sacrifice. So true ending is shrouded in mystery because it does not prove if the arisen became the next pathfinder or the arisen being dead. I mean if you compare that to Savan in DD1, I am sure the reason why Savan would be missing in action all this time is because he became Seneschal. Pathfinder in DD2 has got to be equivalent to fighting Seneschal. So it might even be possible that the arisen in DD2 had became the next Pathfinder which means the arisen cannot come back to the human world. Pathfinder in DD2 would have to be equivalent to Seneschal. So I am sure if they don't even show what happened to the arisen who beaten Pathfinder, then that right there must of been what happened to Savan all this time.

So in a way, this must of been exactly what happened to Savan in DD1. I mean people will have to eventually realize that Savan is missing in action. Remember what happened to Savan. @@Grimalken1969 Just like in DD1, fake ending would mean the arisen goes back living a peaceful life as a fisherman. In DD2, the fake ending is where the arisen goes back to the throne ruling as soveran. So by comparing both Dragon's Dogma, they don't want a real ending where the arisen slays a dragon only to rule as king/queen. They never made a real ending where arisen fights for the throne. For DD2, since the arisen was already a soveran, the arisen never actually did it for the throne. People just happened to welcome him/her.

    Warning: Wall of Text. TLDR at the bottom.
    You know, everyone acts like the cycle is this horrible thing, that *must* be broken, but like... is it really that bad? In DD1 I would say yes absolutely, but in DD2, ehh, not so much. The cycle was much worse in Gransys than in Vermund & Battahl. Lemme explain.
    So in the first game right, as soon as Grigori (the dragon) dies, the whole world goes dark, monsters everywhere, the Everfall leaves a massive hole in Gran Soren, the Duke ages rapidly and wants you dead, pretty heinous all around. You *have to* plunge into the Everfall as its the only way to stop it all. You fight the Seneschal and stop the apocalyptic happenings in Granysys, become Seneschal, kill yourself, and "break the cycle." Your pawn gets your body, washes up in Cassardis, and assumedly lives the rest of their days as you, with your beloved. Good end for your pawn, not so much for you. And considering the Dragon - Arisen plight still exists in DD2, I guess our plan only worked for Gransys' cycle.
    Despite that, the "good"/true ending is the overall best when weighed against: 1) Take the dragons deal and your beloved dies, but you become Duke. 2) Take the Seneschal's deal, and live in an illusion and be unawares to that fact. Or 3) Die to the Seneschal and become a dragon. Out of all 4 the only traditionally "good" one would be taking the Seneschal's deal, the Seneschal does call it a "valid fate" to be fair, but then he basically calls you a coward for doing so as you (like many others) have basically chosen to run. And remember, at the end of the day its all an illusion as well. (Tbh its still the ending I choose every NG, I just wanna live happily with Quina, sorry Gransys.)
    The key here, is that the good ending and true ending are the *same* ending. They're intwined, can't have one without the other.
    In DD2 though, the (unnamed, basically inconsequential) Dragon dies, and you become Sovran. That's it. Thats the Good ending. No giant pits, no gods that have to be felled, none-so-much as a rainy cloud in the sky. Just a happy **non-illusory** life of regality. That doesn't really seem so bad, insofar as you're fine with a life of political intrigue. At the very least its none-so-bad as you and your pawn dying to "break a cycle" that probably remains unbroken anyway, or sacrificing your beloved or what-have-you.
    In DD1 the only way to become Duke was to sacrifice your beloved, DD2's standard "good" ending is that and more. Its the definition of having your cake and eating it too. Sure its not the "true ending" but its a much more preferable one, and in all honesty it seems the intended one. You get your throne back, you get a life of nobility, you get to save your beloved, you get to be a hero, you get to let the next great-willed Arisen schmuck deal with breaking an unbreakable cycle most common folk don't care about, and most of all, you *survive.*
    All things considered, everything comes up aces for us. There is 0 downsides other than letting the (very watered down compared to DD1's) cycle continue. Sure some houses may get burned by a dragon in the future, but as evidenced by Melve, most folk'll be fine and just move towns.
    And as mentioned before: the key here is that the good and true endings are *seperate* endings, completely independent of each other.
    TLDR: When comparing both game's "Good" endings, our Arisen from DD1 got a pretty raw deal compared to DD2's. And quite honestly I don't mind, I like a good happy ending.

      Also when you go for the true ending the title changes from dragon's dogma to dragon's dogma 2, maybe itsuno wants to tell us something? 🤔
      For me the fake ending were you kill the dragon is the worse because at the end of the day you would become like the old arisen that gives you the godsbane or worse than him, i remember poorly something he said like he was the king of the nation and even got to be the rouler of the world so maybe seneschal? And was always paranoid about the ending of the world but never got the guts to do what you are doing.
      And yeah comparing both cycles dd1 was wild

    • @vedrisca
      @vedrisca Před 5 měsíci +2

      I think it's moreso that breaking the cycle in DD2's world means that there are no more Arisen nor are there dragons. It's a shame that we -- the players and devs -- can't afford to be there to bear witness to such a world, but it's the price we pay for "completing" the game in its truest sense: that when the Arisen (player) and the Dragon (devs) no longer have a story to write and read, the world must be consigned to being archived or reduced to oblivion.
      The true ending credits show a world that exists independently of the Arisen's and the Dragon's involvement, free from the Dogma that necessitates our involvement. The Unmoored World is still beholden to that Dogma that if something is in excess of what is written it must be destroyed, but the ending cutscenes imply now that everyone going forward can be allowed to exist independently of OUR (the players' and devs') involvement -- that it can be a world in a true sense that it simply exists with or without us to witness it. And when we hit that New Game button in the main menu, that world is being recreated for us to once again be put under the Dogma: a crafted experience of life and death for our own personal amusement.
      I do think that they could have written those themes a bit better if it was more meta (in a Nier sort of way) if they wanted to make the endings more impactful.

      @@thehandle711 He's not, it's the game's way of saying that the old man was in the same situation that you were. That's how he knows everything that's happened, because it happened to him.

    • @hp2546
      @hp2546 Před 5 měsíci

      @@mace8983 Yes! That is a better way to put it because that theory will make sense. That could be another way to say that old man was a former arisen. So in case anyone chooses a female arisen for DD2, then we can assume he is a seperate person. Same example as Sofiah being a former arisen in DD1. I mean Sofiah have a better understanding of a cycle too. Sofiah in DD1 had killed her dragon but did not face Seneschal. After all, if the arisen gets killed right in front of Seneschal, that arisen become a dragon. So we could assume that in theory, maybe when Savan defeated his Seneschal, Sofiah must of committed suicide herself. Sofiah must of entered that realm same time as Savan so that way if she committed suicide, it won't count as her being defeated by Seneschal when choosing peaceful life. After all, main pawns cannot enter the realm of peaceful ending. So she may of had to commit suicide while Savan was facing his Seneschal.

    So DD2 is just a rehash of the first game and they didn't even change the shitty endings? There is no way for your character to live happily ever after and end the dragon threat?
    And before anyone comes after me for spoiling myself on the game, I just saved myself $100+ in my currency because I would have been furious to buy the game only to hate the ending enough to ruin the rest of the experience. Why would I want to start a new character knowing their only outcome was death? Why would I bother building character relationships if my character is basically just walking story fodder? Simply put, I wouldn't.

      A happy ending would completely negate the entire point of Dragon's Dogma's Schopenhaueristic philosophy with the twist that the strongest humans fill in for the godless world, but as human continually need to be replaced in an endless cycle and we simply can't escape that. Death is inevitable.

      @@bc9866 Idk about you but I prefer to play games that make me happy, not remind me of the inevitability of death and the fact that I basically wasted my time trying because my character dies anyways, and from the first game I can tell you that there isn't a single character worth sacrificing for (unlike ME3 where I hate the ending because of this same problem but being able to save all the other characters I care about at the same time makes it worth it).
      So the character writing, animation and voice acting will have to be absolutely phenomenal to make any side characters or companions worth the sacrifice and from what I've seen of everything outside of combat that's very much NOT what you get despite the ridiculously high price tag attached to it. I'd rather just play BG3 again.

      What? The two endings you're most likely to get both include you living happily ever after. The only one where you get even kind of shafted is the secret ending, and that's very much by your own choice. The two obvious endings are literally you going home and living the rest of your life as a king, having slain the Dragon. The cycle will repeat, but your character's life was idyllic, and it's the best choice for the continuation of humanity by a longshot. The secret ending is basically destroying the world to solve a problem the world didn't need solved, and for what? Because the Dragon thought the cycle was bullshit? It's whatever.

    • @hp2546
      @hp2546 Před 5 měsíci

      Look at 34:06.
