Had it done recently, super painful on the 2nd and 3rd days, but keep up with meds and you'll be good. Just numbness as feeling gets back into the toes and the occasional dull ache. Still recovering.

I had this with operation with screw fixation and lateral anthrex internal brace about three weeks ago. Pain was was really bad right after surgery(local Anastasia and nerve block didn’t work well) and it was bad around the third day. After that, little to no pain and haven’t had to take pain med since. Not too bad of a surgery considering what they have to do. Looking forward to getting stitches out in a few days!

I had this done 6 weeks ago. I don't have the plate, Instead I have a 6.5cm screw that was drilled in through the back. If anyone is watching this and is worried about pain, the worst pain I had was a persistent 3/10 on day 2. Since then almost nothing.

I really didn't have very much pain, I may have just got lucky in that respect. When you have the surgery they give you a nerve block injection in the back of your knee after you've been put to sleep, and when you wake up you can't feel a thing. They send you home with, in my case, dihydrocodeine and tell you to get some paracetamol. So yeah on day two and for about a 2 or 3 weeks I was taking up to 8 dihydrocodeine a day and about the same number of paracetamol.
The worst pain I had was mainly discomfort , sort of an almost persistent dull pain. But around 10 minutes after taking my tablets that would go away completely. I even slipped over a couple of times and planted my foot down, and that pain wasn't anything major or long lasting. My surgeon told me that only around 10% of people experience persistent pain where they need to have the hardware removed.
I would definitely recommend just getting the surgery over and done with. I had my surgery in October 2017, was out of the plaster in 2-3 weeks, in a surgical boot for another 2-3 weeks then back in my normal shoes in December. I can already tell that there has been an improvement. Apparently it will be a year before I will be 100%, as I still get a little swelling after a decent amount of walking.
Just go for, and good luck!

Mattcha thank you so much for sharing! But is the stand of your feet different now? Like how do you stand now, like before or completely different? For me if i lose weight i feel no pain but if i gain weight i feel the pain so much more that's why am doubting so much bc my weight is up and down. Beside that i was reading people get blood clots and can die of this procedure that is what i am afraid of, and the stand of my feet i dont want to walk strange afterward or lose my nerves in my feet. Bc i feel like lately that my feet falls "asleep" to many times. I don't get why that happens before i never had that. I dont want to do it and something bad will happen and i will regret it for the rest of my life...

Oi gente, tudo bem? #

I had this done, but with just one screw in the back of my heel bone instead of this "step plate". I am 9 weeks post-op, just started physical therapy, and I am already quite worried that I have permanent nerve damage. My heel is 99.9% numb. I cannot feel the skin on it, and I haven't been able to since surgery. It has no feeling on the surface at all. Putting in on the ground, or against anything for that matter is very aggravating. It's like I can feel the inside of it, but not the outside. There is absolutely no feeling there, even with sharp pokes on it.

Hi Javier Enter this site after I created that everything is explained there, what is the cause of health and what I did unfortunately. I wanted to go back and never have done it. There are even more or other things that don't fit the site.

I also have a problem, I have a hollow foot and my ankle is offset in hyperpronation and it causes me pain in the knees. I can't walk without pain. do not do osteotomies of the foot you say? I risk ending up disabled if i have surgery ?

Hi Bashkins, how are you? The best thing is to wear a shoe with a high heel, which already gives a good relief to the problem. Or use insoles, orthoses or physical therapy. Never do this surgery as it will end your health, the main reason for this is that as the bone where the saws are sunk, the nerves that are inside the skin also sink in this region and you will have an altered perception of everything to you around, for the worse, you only start to feel negative things and nothing positive around you, between your body and people, and the environment because the nerves where they sink the bone, stay out of place and sink. In addition, your leg will become stiff, looking like a wooden leg, and your posture will change inappropriately, and when you lie down to sleep, your ribs and back and hips will all bend for that reason. That happened to me. It's so much pressure when you lie down that it looks like your back and legs are going to break or burst. I made a website explaining all of this, but it is in Portuguese, I will pass it on to you and then you translate it into English, where I tell you everything that happens in this surgery, with those who did it. Do not have this surgery, it is a medical error. If you do she will be in trouble and regret it for the rest of her life. I did it without knowing what happened next in 2009, and since that year I have suffered every day of my life because of it, to this day . Suffering that I could have saved. Doctors know how to perform these surgeries, but they do not know in practice what happens to patients after they perform it. As patients get bad afterwards, much worse than before, without comparison. Medicine is a profession that has errors like any other, and they perform many surgeries that are a mistake and should never be done and only worsen people's health. All the surgery that osteotomies make the person gets worse and they just don't go crazy after God. The worst thing is that there is no way to undo this mistake they made afterwards, and the person remains with this problem forever, suffering for the rest of his life. I wish I never had this video surgery on my feet, or heels, it would be a dream come true. Below is the website I created to alert people to this. A hug.

Tiago T fine Thank you very much, i understand you and i’m so sorry for you.what were your pathologies of the foot before doing the surgery ? have you ever tried whole body cryotherapy in nitrogen? it's a big anti inflammatory process with the cold. Maybe it can do you good with osteopathy. The osteotomy calcaneum is very dangerous. I have seen in other comments that some people have done this and today are doing very well but I do not know their problems. I’m 23 years old and I can’t take any risk then to suffer even worse until the end of my life. I already put on soles and the podiatrist also made a mistake by correcting a hollow foot symptomatic of the blow today it does not make me a little bit. It is my overpronation that makes me suffer because my knee is not in the axis and I have to find a normal walk in the axis. today my quality of life is also messy because I always walk with knee pain. I have an appointment with another podiatrist to correct the hindfoot and do physical therapy with an osteopath to soften the foot. I gonna read your article on your web site 👍
