    I had a CM028 shortly after they came out, 2007 sounds about right. I remember the LPEG/MPEG/AEG distinction on Airsoft Retreat
    Forum.
    The CM028 was a really solid option, and upset the market a bit initially. I had the CM028 along with their Krink, an ICS 74M, and a Tokyo Marui underfolder, which represented most of the brands available at the time.

Saturday night got colder and after I woke up my gun was covered in dew and C O L D. Gun and battery still went strong into the final assault. Cyma make simple, affordable, basic AEGs that just work. Plus they make almost every AK variant you thin of. And they've lately become such a big player the they OEM for brands like Cybergun, Lancer Tactical, Evolution Airsoft, Specna Arms and many more. Was fun, he borrowed me a gun, an M4 which had trouble feeding. So for the next game I bought an E&L AK-74 and and I'm quite happy. If Cymas are already so good then I guess this E&L will last me forever.

    The CM.028 came out in 2006, shortly after they had released the CM.027J their clone of the TM MP5J which is basically 'the' gun that kicked off the whole Chinese made (proper) AEG thing.
    The very first CM.028's had proprietary (simplified) hop units (possibly because CYMA couldn't make the more complex cuts for a TM spec hop at that point) and plastic high cap mags,
    I had one of these guns and it came from the factory missing its barrel retaining tab, meaning you could with minimal effort pull the gun in half ....they really have come on light years since those days
    at that time the CM.028's were exactly half the cost of the TM AK47's they were clones of (at least where I was),
    owe a lot to that gun, could never have afforded to get into airsoft back then if it wasn't for the 028.

    Well I've had one Cyma AK die on me, a pretty horrid death too unfortunately
    A CM047D
    BUT
    It lasted well over five years with hard use and minimal to no maintenance. When I first got it, I had some small upgrades added. So honestly it refused to die until the bitter end where it caved suddenly. Unfortunately attempts to fix the problem and even replace the gearbox met complications with the tech I gave it to, so I just bought a new Cyma CM040D and moved the accessories over...
    Still have it. Used it for a good two years completely stock with no internal upgrades on the gearbox (swapped out the barrel and rubber). Last month got a friend who doubled as a tech to do some work on it and I'm a happy lad. That's not to mention a CM045C I sold to a friend, which still works after 6 years of hard use. Sadly they're more expensive in the UK now due to import issues, but I've found that Specna Arms current AK lineup are holding a candle to those who miss affordable Cyma AKs

    I remember CYMA airsoft like 2006-2008? and this was in some Chinese owned discount store in Santa Ana. Evike reviews for the CM.028 go back to 2008. CZcams review go back that far as well. On a similar vein, I have an old Gen 2 E&L which I bought new in 2023, but I knew it had been sitting in the warehouse at AirsoftGI for a long time since the spring settled to 355fps (because I wanted to get it when it was still in print back in 2018). It still works and I thoroughly enjoy how simple it is.

    in unfortunately got a lemon. i didn't hive mine long before the cutoff broke and when I got it with any other bucking besides stock, the air seal was horrendous. I think they sent me a boneyard by accident. the bule cyma ak's had been out or a couple of years at this point and mine wasn't the blue. it also had the ferrite motor. I had that fixed. when the cutoff broke i had an aster fitted and now if it ever gets the slightest bit of dirt, it starts fucking up. its either the trigger or selector that's acting up selector that goes. im probably going to hpa it

    Wish yall would’ve talked about the differences in construction based on model numbers. The vfc clone cyma is vastly different than the older TM based AKs. Also lately cyma has been putting better motors and field legal springs in their aks. My most recent cm.048 didn’t need any changes out of the box. It was good to go.

    • @ReapingRose115
      @ReapingRose115 Před 5 měsíci

      Some of the models you can find today are TM Classic Clones like the CM047D, good for what they are but they do have some nitpicks and weaknesses on the external receiver. Still decent guns if you can find them for super affordable prices

  • @darkshock42mlg05
    @darkshock42mlg05 Před 5 měsíci

    As far as I know if you were to buy a cyma today you are getting a high torque motor. Unfortunately, I happen to get an old one that I think was part of a boneyard because it didn't take long for the cut off over to break which prompted me to put a gate aster in it which is the biggest mistake I've ever made. If it getsdirty either the trigger or selector doesn't work the way it should. Austin, with my shop installed the aster the motor died which they replaced with an e&l m170. Same specs as the asg infinity 22k that I was going to get later. For MOSFETs I only care about 11.1 and low battery. The rest is if I have it why not use it. You could give me a cyma fresh ootb And I will run it all day. My aks74u has never stripped a gear or piston and that's just a plastic piston and I had evike downgrade the spring for cqb. If ha had hotter a newer one I would say it's 100% a tank. I'm confident that you can bury one in the dirt for years on end and dig it up and it will still work just like its real steel counterpart.

    I remember one forest winter game where we took 5 replicas. Conditions were extremally bad, It was -8C and literally blizzard. Four of our replicas stop working because of low temperature. Guess which one still worked? Cyma. Don't say Cyma is not good for CQB. I play over 100 games in CQB and I love to play with Cyma (I'm talking about normal CQB not speedsoft). I also have 2 LCT guns (AK74 and AKSU). LCT is overpriced but external quality is 10/10. When you hold Cyma you think "It's nice" but when you hold LCT you think "WOW It's amazing!". When you play with Cyma nobody notice but when you play with LCT many ppl will ask: "Can I hold it?" ;)

How Cyma have managed to effectively outlive BIG brands and to have been considered actually good the whole damn time is incredible. Where I live averages 88% humidity btw so a lot of "fancier" brands electronics corrode like a motherfucker and even rust and mildew is a serious issue but aul Cyma just does Cyma things; I've an OG LCT AK conversion kit from prior to them releasing complete AEGs and that needs regular external maintenance to prevent the aforementioned rust or mildew.
