Enjoyed the video but now I'm genuinely curious if that old man without his pants was just an oddball or suffering from dementia or something similar. Met a few people with dementia and you can sometimes forget the most basic of things, like putting your clothes on, depending on how severe a case it is. Luckily I was home and my girlfriend was screaming for me, and as soon as I got near the door the guy fled. . Really sketchy though and I really don't want to imagine what could have happened :(
Funny story about jaywalking: when I was 16 (1984), my (Japanese) father took (American-born) me and my (German) mother to Japan while he was there on business (we had also gone when I was 4, and most recently my husband and I went on our honeymoon in 2008). While Dad was busy at work, my Mom and I were walking around Tokyo. We came to one of those little streets that Chris references,, saw there was no traffic, and crossed without a thought. It was only when the 10-15 Japanese people who were standing at the curb followed us that I realized we had crossed against the light! This is funny in both the follow the rules way and the "Hey, if they can do it, so can we!" way...
You'll see this if you go to Waikiki. It's packed with Japanese tourists. They won't J-walk unless someone else does it first. I tested it myself - you walk up to a crosswalk filled with Japanese tourists, and they'll start watching to see if you'll J-walk. I took a step toward the street and stopped suddenly, and everyone else did the same and looked confused.
The sad thing is a man also followed me home from the station once in Japan and I'm a dude....He tried to invite himself inside and didn't leave until I yelled at him so God knows what he planned to do in my place.
My Hotel was right next to Kabukicho when I visited in 2015 and I didn't know what it was back then. One night when returning to the Hotel I took a detour and accidentally ended up there only to be immediately greeted by promoters trying to lure me into their Bars. Luckily I'm always super suspicious to people trying to sell me something on the street, they would have probably given me the same treatment like that poor Couple on their Honeymoon. I defenitely think making a Video to warn of scam artists in Japan is a good Idea because I certainly wasn't aware how big the problem is before I visited. ...same for these christian cult members who are lurking around Shinjuku Station trying to get foreigners to join them for a prayer.
I agree with Sharla that night buses are the worst mode of transportation in Japan. Back in 2018 I took a night bus from Osaka to Tokyo, thinking that I'd save both time and money by sleeping my way between two locations. It was awful; cramped, noisy and with occasional rest stops where they turned all the lights on, I couldn't sleep a wink. Didn't help that I was also suffering from a cold at the time, so I wasn't exactly in the best of state to begin with.
I really enjoy these videos Chris. Not saying you should do that all the time but from time to time I'd love seeing some more of this, just chatting with friends in a relaxed ambience, that's nice :) Happy holidays!
I've been to Japan, for work, about 16 times over the past 30 years, and I've had some truly bizarre experiences. I'm very tall (7') and broad, and I was once offered a lot of money by this guy we got talking to, to carry him around like a baby, while he was dressed as a baby. I told him no (used more colourful language than that). That wasnt my weirdest experience in Japan, but is in the top 5.

Would be interesting to see a video on the dangerous bars / clubs in Tokyo. Similar happened to my and my wife on our honeymoon there.
I just scooted over from Sharla's QnA... FR these two are dating now? lol cute.
I'm so stoaked you both are dating! you make an awesome couple!
The sad thing is a man also followed me home from the station once in Japan and I'm a dude....He tried to invite himself inside and didn't leave until I yelled at him so God knows what he planned to do in my place.
In Japan, when a man is the victim of a sexual crime, the victim hesitates and does Not report it to the police.
You know what dude? You turned a tiny cell into a ramen shop. That deserves a sub.
Now this video makes much more sense
Loving Sharla! So glad she is doing well now. Go Canada!
I love their dynamic relationship, it's so wholesome 😂💖✨
Oh yes, the greatest collab in Sendai.
Thanks for a great year of videos Chris! Looking forward to what’s coming next. Take it easy and enjoy the holidays!
The most enjoyable video with you two. Your real personalities were definitely on display. Merry Christmas to both of you.
Chris: your Connor impression is DEAD ON mate.
Love it...
Really enjoyed the 12 days of CHRIStmas! Sharla looks freaking gorgeous as always
I really enjoy these videos Chris. Not saying you should do that all the time but from time to time I'd love seeing some more of this, just chatting with friends in a relaxed ambience, that's nice :) Happy holidays!
Sharla is so beautiful! I hope you two have a lovely Christmas!
This was a great format. Just eating and chatting. Great to see sharla
9:18 Are we not gonna talk about how cute Sharla looks as Sailor Moon?!
Enjoy the hell of your content, even though I lived here in Japan for over 10 years I still find myself tuning in. Your down to earth and seem like a good person. Your guests are great and you never changed your content like other vloggers to please the masses. Keep it up!
Watching this knowing they are dating, gives it a whole new vibe. ❣️😎
Chris: I saw a guy walking a duck on a lane...
Sharla: A guy followed me from the station and forced himself in my house.
Chris: I saw a guy walking a tortoise...
Sharla : An old man with no pants and underwear was standing in front of me...
Always a pleasure to see Sharla. This is such a good series Chris 👏🏻
Would be interesting to see a video on the dangerous bars / clubs in Tokyo. Similar happened to my and my wife on our honeymoon there. Luckily nothing got stolen, but I literally had to carry her back to the hotel as she collapsed. We thought it was too much sake but realised the next day it was something far worse.
