  • This old 1970 M35A2C needed some TLC in the binder department. What should have been a relatively quick project turned into months... Not sure how that happens with projects??
    The brakes ended up getting a complete overhaul, and no proper project is complete without finding other issues along the way.

    You answered two questions I had. You came up with a brake bleeder, and you stuck with the DOT 5 the military used. Mainly wondered about bleeding the brakes. Without a bleeder type device it's damn near impossible to bleed the brakes on a Duce once you had it apart as far as you did. I worked on one or 300 Duces in my past career and you called it they are a pain in the back. 5 tons are even worse.
    Cracked up hard at the "Just back from the machine shop." Seriously man, I did spray some beer on that one. 🤣🤣
    Take it easy man. Thanks for the vids. 😎

    Yup your button fell off. You did everything I did when I got mine. I also converted all copper air lines to modern DOT air brake line. All belts, hoses, fluids, air tanks, rebuilt parking brake, speedo cable, parking brake cable, fuel pump, booster pump, hydraulic head o rings, converted to spin on oil and fuel filters, motor mounts, cab mounts, transfer case mounts, rebuilt front pumpkin, locking hubs, battery cables, rebuilt wiper motors, new battery box, I'm sure I left stuff out.

    The drums brakes have a latch that you removed to adjust the brakes with a gage

    I like these trucks, but I’m glad I took the “easy” route and got a CUCV Chevy pickup instead… They’ve still got plenty of military goofiness, but a bit more manageable. Or at least takes up less space anyway..

    • @toocheaptosmoke
      @toocheaptosmoke  Před 2 lety +1

      I don't regret getting this thing at all, but it's definitely been a bit different working on a larger scale, haha.

  • @michaelvrooman5681
    @michaelvrooman5681 Před 2 lety

    Heck yes. I use a pressure sprayer to bleed Hydro-Vac brske systems on older farm trucks. I have several master cylinder caps i have built for using it.

    • @toocheaptosmoke
      @toocheaptosmoke  Před 2 lety +1

      I've seen those type of clamp on caps, may have to make some for the other vehicles.

    • @michaelvrooman5681
      @michaelvrooman5681 Před 2 lety +1

      @@toocheaptosmoke the farm trucks I work on are so old I have no choice but buikding them. I find peices of soft rubber truck mud flaps make good seals for the caps i have built. Drill and tap a 1/8 NPT hole in them to attach my pressure hose fitting to. I use 1/4" nylon DOT. Air kine and fittings as i work in a heavy truck shop and have them around. It also nakes good deisel fuel line on trucks
