It’s certainly easy to talk smack about what he did AFTER the fact, ie with the benefit of hindsight. People forget the fear and uncertainty that came after the September 11 attacks, and how people gave an ear to this man for a sense of security. And now that all is said and done, of course we have CZcams armchair critics who think they would have done better were they in his position. Being president is probably the hardest job in the world because it means having to do anything for the greater good in keeping the country safe, even if the very people you are trying to protect hate you for it. No doubt Dubya had to compromise his own philosophical morals during his reign, but for all the missteps he took as president, the fact is we haven’t experienced an event even close to the caliber of 9/11 since the original attacks. At least part of the reason why is because of his doing.

God looking at Bush's demeanor in this speech made me laugh because I actually believed him that there were WMDs in Iraq. What isn't funny is the lives that were lost in return. The end of that speech was the part that really screwed us over. All those terms Weapons of Mass Destruction, Axis of Evil, threats to the freedom of the free world, etc. etc. after 9/11 we were in such disbelief that we were attacked on our own homesoil that unfortunately Bush and as a result, Congress, became distracted and we lives were lost in Iraq. Afghanistan was understandable, but even then we shouldn't have been there until now, just until Bin Laden died...because look at that ungreatful S-O-B Karzai, after helping him build infrastructure, health care, and deter terrorists to place a new government, he is now criticizing our efforts. I remember when this speech happened. I was a little boy and I was sitting with my Pop-pop who was a life long Democrat. He grumbled every time the people applauded and I thought it was silly. Looking back, hell this guy was President of the most powerful country on Earth when it was seriously humbled. He did what he could. He reacted and started a truly righteous campaign to really rid the world of some horrible and life threatening people. Maybe he didn't use enough force, maybe he went about it the wrong way. The 2008 fall of the economy certainly was not his fault. In the end I have no idea why he was so hated and hated to this day. He wasnt a great president but he was far from the worst.

I remember. I remember being mad and sad at the same time. But I also saw and felt the pride of being an American. The country unified and standing together as Americans. At this moment in time, party affiliation, race, gender, young and old, rich or poor, it didn't matter your background, we were one nation under God. People across the country displayed the United States flag everywhere. From flying on a pole to bumper stickers to decoration inside their homes. I remember getting emotional during this speech and I didn't even know one single person that perished, but they were my fellow citizens. So yeah I remember truly.
