- Sorry for the horrible and altered footage again. Copyright has become a lot worse and strict lately. Hope you all enjoyed this video, really tried to dive in deep into his character and hopefully got my point across. Gonna try to do more videos like this in the future.

I'm just glad the fandom still includes Boco in their series.
❤
There is one easy thing too defend about BoCo, and that’s that he isn’t a diesel version of Edward
It goes two ways
I mean he kinda is
Exactly
Edward is the steamie version of BoC 🔫
I say that aswell
I always thought "Bear" was a missed opportunity, too. Imagine a grumpy, slightly over tying, but good hearted and fair-minded diesel. The perfect "Good Diesel".
Despite his lack of appearances in the Railway Series and TV Series, BoCo was quite a popular character throughout the magazine stories in the 1990s; some of which actually featured him as the main character instead of a minor character.
I think BoCo could've been expanded in the show if the writers took the time into it.
@@DavidBContentExtravaganza3967 You get lost!
And into CGI as Andrew Brenner planned it.
@@DavidBContentExtravaganza3967 I was rude to you because I know about your poor reputation with sexualized underaged fictional girls and you shoving your headcanon down people's throats about how Diesel is supposed to be a generic, one dimensional bully to those that redeem him. And if someone I don't like talks to me, I tell them to get lost! You need help buddy.
Boco may not be in the show anymore. But the fandom keeps him alive. So the new generations can know about him.
Boco is like Edward but with more strictness and a bit anger. He is also a father figure in the show. The only problem is no flaws
Being a modern locomotive, he would be inexperienced and therefore wouldn't be able to 'know his place', butting his cab into arguments where it shouldn't belong until he gets more experience working with the engines.
Yeah flaws is what makes a character important, to know what they are struggling and how can they overcome it.
Someone made a story, simply called 'BoCo'. It's based on real-life events and the Railway Series and makes references to his troublesome engine, which was a recurring problem for the 28s, and how the Fat Comtroller had it fixed. I can't remember who made it but it's really good. Have a look!
If Brenner got more seasons without Mattel doing their BWBA meddling, he might have come back and explore his character more deeply
@@silitekmodder5681I hear he had that planned along with Duke prior to Mattel forcing BWBA on him.
I understand why BoCo is loved by the fans, but his TV series counterpart is a unfortunate tale.
The thing to take about BoCo is how to judge his character. I see from his actions that he is willing to speak his mind when someone is in trouble or presenting a hazard. This is why he confronts Bill and Ben in their introductory story, although of course the Twins, having only just met him, took him as being a threat until Edward came and helped clarify the situation. This also played into Duck being won over by BoCo in the following story (going by Railway Series order), as a result of the events surrounding Diesel, who BoCo would have most likely have learnt of subsequently. An episode centring on BoCo's basis's mechanical issues would have been nice to have as a way of connecting with the character. Would have in turn boosted his contribution to the events of 'Double Teething Troubles', where he gives advice to Derek about dealing with his cooling problems. Regards, Samuel Farris.
I think his story arc was a little rushed too, spend a little more time with boco.
I was thinking something the span of Gordon's.
I felt sorry for how underrated BoCo was, but thankfully we in the fandom have helped to show what could've made him stand out. I have a planned fan series, and it involves giving BoCo a story arc.
The fandom quite likes BoCo the 28 and keeping him alive
Yep and have him in CGI style stories.
I always liked Boco's personality, I feel he should have had more of a role in the series.
I really wish BoCo appeared in the later seasons of the model series and then was brought into the CGI series like Donald, Douglas, Diesel, Daisy, Bill and Ben who all first appeared in the same season as BoCo.
i wouldn't say he's terrible i say he's more of a wasted potential in the tv series
Man i wish boco was in more episodes
The writers could have looked at BoCo’s Basis more and made some more interesting stories out of him.
I agree, that would be perfect, especially in CGI.
@@DavidBContentExtravaganza3967 yeah, in The Brenner Era(S17-S21).
@@stepneydr_n.5561 Exactly.
Fun fact BoCo along with any other diesel locomotive with 2 cabs has a face on each
In the books
Mavis doesn't have a face on either side surely
@@evanclarke5561 well, she doesn’t have 2 cabs so…
awesome!
Me a fan
He really explains these topics fluently :)
I happy Thomas fans are using boco and gave him lead role in some of their episodes. That way he'll gone and never be forgotten.
Your right about Boco, we should learn more about Boco’s origin, how he became to be? Why is he so patient, reasonable and caring? If only the writers would only given him that chance. But sadly not all the characters get to come back to the tv series 😔.
References his class' problems.
Even if Boco wasn’t used much in the show (and I wish he came back in CGI) he is my 2nd favorite character first being duck
I think "Double Teething Troubles" takes place in 1965 while Edward is being repaired at the works following the events of "Edward's Exploit", as Edward doesn't appear in this story and it fits that the Clayton diesel could have been trialled while Edward was away. I tend to disregard the TV series original stories except where they only use RWS characters or fit in with the books. For example, I say the Series 3 episode "Heroes" takes place after the 1995 book "Thomas and the Fat Controller's Engines" as this is the last time we say the china clay wagons. In my headcanon the china clay works is now a museum and Bill & Ben still live there, Edward pulls tourist trains and BoCo has been joined by his brother CoBo (D5705) after a meeting between Derby & Matlock - the 2 diesel units that run the Norramby branch from Barrow, as they met CoBo when he was in storage in the old Matlock goods shed at the time of Derby & Matlock's trial service on the Matlock line. Derby & Matlock are BR Class 151 units, the only 2 ever built.
Guessing maybe but maybe not completely that after TATMR they made Diesel Mavis Arry Bert and Salty the most prominent diesels during the Gullane and HIT eras due to having less common colors in the show (black yellow and red) while BoCo Daisy D261 and Derek starting to fade out of existence could’ve been due to being in generic green liveries plus also not having as many unique traits (surely Diesel 10 with his claw and huge villainous role must be why he’s so prevalent in marketing) and someone likely also thought having smaller diesels more would be more marketable to younger kids than bigger diesels.
At least Diesel 10 and Daisy returned.
@@DavidBContentExtravaganza3967 true
@@stepneydr_n.5561 They should do more bigger diesels than small ones.
@@DavidBContentExtravaganza3967agree
To Me, BoCo was a Great Character in the Series.👍
BoCo pops 🤤
I dunno, I like his model in the TV show.
Maybe it's the face, something about it makes me happy.
BoCo was not terrible. Just underused/underutilised. Same with Bear.
Saying he is terrible is a little over exaggerating. Sure he isn’t really used that often or has big character arcs or his own stories, but I reckon he is a simple fellow that doesn’t really like to be in the spotlight and prefers to just do his own humble and quiet duties. That’s how I see him anyway, great essay video 😊👍
The title of this video should be changed to: “Why Boco is an underrated character and how the railway series erased his presence”
I did an episode called where’s boco which focuses on him
Boco didn’t need to play the role of a big character. He was perfect just the way he was!
But he does need more focus and have main roles to expand on him.
BoCo is always one of the favorites.
I wish they did more with BoCo :(
*Hears someone dissing on Boco*
*Slams door open*
Me, viciously angy: "WHAT DID YOU SAY, MOTHERFUCKER?!?!?😡"
*Grabs cartoonishly large mallet and unleashes SCP 682*
Yeah BoCo should have appeared in the remaining of the model series and the Brenner era.
BoCo was always my favorite character, because I always liked his type of class. Seeing this video makes me wonder if BoCo acutally ever pulled a train without breaking down lol
He’s an ok character, underrated as hell
I find him to be an ok character as well but overrated
Thomas and the Jet Engine could've gotten replaced with a still better but similar episode - Boco and the Jet Engine. It would've been good for Cranky to interact with Boco. Likewise, unlike Thomas, you might say Boco's class were built for speed. Boco, Oliver, Bill and Ben moreover could've taken the roles of Percy, James, Arry and Bert respectively in Middle Engine, with Gordon getting Henry's role because of his relative nescience with trucks
Not to mention boco's model, the class 28 Cobos were terrible, as the crossly engines had constant problems and when they were functioning, the amount of smoke they made put Alco diesels to shame. It was so bad that at one point they were sent back to the manufacturer. Oh, and for some reason the cab windows randomly fell out
I wouldn't say terrible but disgraceful or disappointing.
And here I thought this was going to be about the the Class 28 having a bad prime mover.
Hmm you make a good point. He really didn't do too much.
All you need to do, is just exist.
@@Ben31337l yea
Oh I see now why this video is coming out.
Honestly, I feel that if Boco were flushed out more as a character then he would've been more prominent
This should be interesting given the thumbnail. Not to mention this is the first one to have a premiere 🤨
The show could have adapted a few of the annual and magazine stories with Boco as the lead. That way he would have been more relevant in the show.
BoCo is actually a great character imo.
Better than the aggressive stonewall lobby
This title is the perfect way to get shot by the Troublesome trucks
I wish BoCo was more in the show bc I like him but he's now in my YT channel
0:30 Bro james face had me dying 💀
this is gonna be something different.
His basis was even worse IRL
Well the fandom saved boco.
Skarloey:
I’m ashamed of you
when he asks the question at the end i completely agree. why.
I haven’t watched u in a long time
Great analysis! However the title is a bit misleading. When I saw it I got angry and was gonna leave a dislike cuz I thought you we're going to say he's a bad character.
Boco was only a wasted character
BoCo is not terrible he is an actully decent character unlike kana Nia Rebecca or another new bwba dummie that has a trash personality why replace Edward and Henry what happend to the three railway engines? I understand why Edward had to move out but why write off Edward for a new bwba dummie? Why Henry? No more three railway engines? Like come on mattel the three railway engines is what started the company you have made a monstrosity of why just why. :(
Rebecca was meant to replace edward during the production of s21
