I like how they made his devil form actually hideous. They could have gone the route of making his form 'initially shocking but alluring upon second glance' but they didn't. It's a good reminder that his self-hatred and self-perception are, in fact, monstrous.
I think its nice, contrasting his character representing what people think is evil and thats how they see him, even though humans sins and are their own devils he is mearly justice. If god made humans in his image that means god, angels and demons arn't above humans petty emotions, rather humans are reflections of them and their emotions just minus the whole godly strength and superpowers
I don't think he's hideous. Scary at first glance? Yes. But it's something one would warm up to if seeing it more. Maybe that's just me. I love the way he looks! Badass as well! 😌
For the folks wondering why he has no horns, In season 1 i think he tells Chole he has no horns, that only Hollywood puts horns on him. So it's likely never gonna happen.
At 0:32 He seems Really angry and at 0:59 he seems to realize he's starting to scare Chloe alittle so he freaks out and goes back to hiding but Chloe want to prove she isn't afraid anymore and she believes there's still good in him he has to forgive himself and what he did in the past. I swear this is the most heartwarming video of 2019.

@@cedrikusable When things go great we praise God and when things go wrong we blame God (or the Devil). We can't seem to ever put anything on us until we reach the highest peak and become self absorbed or reach our lowest point and blame ourselves.
This scene reminds me of the episode where Lucifer helps a priest bring down a drug ring. At one point the priest and Lucifer are on the balcony smoking, talking about a troubled teen boy. During their conversation, this is said: *Lucifer:* How can you still have faith in this boy? *Priest:* God has faith in him, in all of us….even in our darkest moments. *Lucifer:* Oh, you really believe that? *Priest:* I do. Why don't you? *Lucifer, sadly:* Because He didn't have faith in me. *Priest:* I felt that way once too. But now I know, deep in my heart, God has a plan for me. *Lucifer:* Oh, His plan for me was quite clear. *Priest:* How do you know it's finished? Those last words were, in my opinion, so damn powerful. It also proves my point.
@@kathleenabbu8553 I know. You could tell by the way he reacted when the priest died. Plus we came to find out that the priest knew it was really Lucifer and that God still has a plan for him. Then add in the *God Johnson* episode and you can tell that they really are trying to show Lucifer that God doesn't hate him. That episode was one of the best, in my opinion. You could see that deep down, Lucifer still loves his Father....that he was only angry with Him because he felt rejected. How I wish they weren't interrupted by that damn nurse. It was so unfortunate.
What's wrong with that? It makes her human. I feel that women in today's society are becoming more and more embarrassed by their emotions. It's like they're buying into this notion that emotion makes you weak and that women should essentially become more like men and hide their feelings. Which, personally, I find unhealthy and it makes them unsympathetic.
I love the fact that skin over his heart and right eye(the side with which he first gazed at Chloe in premier) first transformed . 😍😘😭 Yeah I'm deckerstar trash 😅
I just love the way that he says: -'I hate that I am poison for anyone who dares to care about me' With so much hate and dispice of himself, and then -'Especially you' With so much love and pain to Chloe, cause he really hates the fact that she was 'afraid' of him. (and that was the last thing he wanted) And it are these kind of scenes that really shows how talented these actors are. Amazing job! 💕
Eve accepted Lucifer for who he is. Chloe reminded him that it's okay to feel a certain way and made him a better angel overall. In life, who do we choose? Someone that accepts us for who we are or someone that changes us for the better?
Eve didn't accept lucifer. She loved the person he was and she wanted he remainned being the same person he was in the past. It's not the same thing. Eva is the best example of how a person can love you and, at the same time, being very toxic to you
Sami Saleh Eve is selfish you know. But if I had to choose I would still choose Chloe he truly cares and love Lucifer she was only confused because of that priest and the books she read about Lucifer Even if it happen to me I would freak out too.
Choosing someone who accepts you for who you are is the easier option but choosing someone who makes you a far better person is ultimately the right choice.
This is the most powerful scene between these two characters and you can feel how Chloe wants to run but forces herself to support the man she loves and you can feel how Lucifer wants her to stay away for her own safety but at the same time he doesn’t want to be alone. THIS SCENE IS AMAZING🤩🤩🤩
After all these times when he said all that matters is how she sees him, the truth was that what really matters is how HE does see himself. And SHE is who understands it... What a damn great scene!!! And what if THIS was and had always been God's plan? What if He created Chloe especially for Lucifer not in order that he finally loves someone, but in order that he finally loves himself, stops hating himself?
I love how she glances upward before she follows him into the bedroom. 'Please God give me the strength to save your son.' That she puts her love for him before her fear just says it all.
@@PrincessCadence2012 it's all cgi. Plenty of behind the scenes pics of season 4 going around. One of this scene in particular where he's wearing the gray cgi suit with black cap and the dots.
I love that when Lucifer decides that he wants to forgive himself, and slowly returns to his human form, the first places where it happens are his face, which as we all know is the most important part of his body for him and his persona, but also on his chest where the heart is supposed to be, which shows that he really meant it and is willing to change and also replace the selfhatred into acceptance of himself. Season 4 is just perfect with so much meaning, I love it, and hope for Season 5
This scene is so freaking amazing. The despair in Lucifer's voice is so sad & Chloe overcoming her horror to give him the support he needs is truly moving.
"Lucifer, you need to forgive yourself." "I can't." "Why?" "I don't know how to. I don't even know where to begin." You know how sad that is? And then Chloe whispers "You're okay." And we all just start crying.
But who prays for Satan? Who in eighteen centuries, has had the common humanity to pray for the one sinner that needed it most, our one fellow and brother who most needed a friend yet had not a single one, the one sinner among us all who had the highest and clearest right to every Christian's daily and nightly prayers, for the plain and unassailable reason that his was the first and greatest need, he being among sinners the supremest? - Mark Twain's Autobiography
I have no special regard for Satan; but I can at least claim that I have no prejudice against him. It may even be that I lean a little his way, on account of his not having a fair show. All religions issue bibles against him, and say the most injurious things about him, but we never hear his side. We have none but evidence for the prosecution and yet we have rendered the verdict. -Mark Twain, Concerning the Jews
this was a very deep moment for both of them. she knew that the only way was for her right then and there to give in becuase she needs to help him and show him or tell him what she sees and for him to come to terms with what he is as well that moment, when she looks up at God for realizing that she alone is who can help him, is perfect... and for Lucifer to see her look at him as he is and still want to be there for him was great because he always felt rejected and the women he love did run but she stood tall and strong to help him see his worth something was just great this season was truly deep for deckstar ... becuase both got to see how each other truly feels and know there love is real.
I keep coming back to this scene (really S4 in general because it is absolutely FANTASTIC) and I never realized before that this moment is the perfect payoff from 4x03 when Lucifer and Chloe have that discussion about whether or not Chloe could truly accept him as the Devil. In 4x03, Lucifer and Chloe have this exchange of dialogue after Chloe finally admits she was attempting to send Lucifer back to Hell because she's absolutely TERRIFIED of him: Lucifer: "Could you accept me as I am?" Chloe: "You have no idea how much I want to..." Lucifer: "Yes, but *COULD* you?" Chloe: "You could change, it doesn't have to be who you are..." Lucifer: "But what if it does?" *shows Devil face* "Could you accept me like this?" Chloe: "... ... I don't know" Lucifer: "Then I have my answer..." At this point Chloe's worst fear, and what's now the ultimate breaking point of their relationship, is that Lucifer is inescapably the Devil, and she can't accept that. She wants him to change to be less frightening to her, but if he can't, then she can't have him in her life. So to finally get to this episode and Lucifer's self-hatred is causing his powers to get out of control, it gets to the point where Lucifer can no longer control it and it looks like he's permanently trapped as the Devil, aka, Chloe's worst fear. Now faced with the reality that Lucifer will never be anything but the Devil, Chloe is paralyzed with fear and can't even look at him. This is it, this is the ultimate breaking point of their relationship, Chloe can't handle this... or can she? Because after listening to the pain in Lucifer's voice about he ruins everything and everyone, she finally decides what's really important in this moment; saving Lucifer, from himself. Yes, she's still gripped with fear, but something stronger has come over her, *conviction.* So she takes that slow stride towards his bedroom and confronts her LITERAL worst fear, just so she can reach her partner once again and tell him the truth, "YOU NEED TO FORGIVE YOURSELF!" Her overcoming herself for his sake makes him realize he too can overcome, and as he takes the first step towards self-forgiveness, his Devil form rescinds back in and he is once again back in control. Season 4 of Lucifer might honestly be a masterpiece.
I used to hate how chloe turned on luci, but now, I realize that was the point. Like Dave fiona purposefully making ahsoka annoying in the clone wars so her character arc has more weight, the writers of Lucifer purposefully made chloe hateable, so that her character arc had more weight. Chloe decker has one of the best character arcs in all of television, and it all happens over the course of a single season.
Chloe: "Lucifer, you have to forgive yourself" Lucifer: "I can't." Chloe: "Why?" Lucifer: "I don't know how" (Chloe throws a 'you asshole, what have you done to him!?' look upward.)
@Rajeswari Ghosh That was the best thing to come out of Michael, the news of his brothers and sisters finally appreciating Lucifer after his sacrifice.
I love that Lucifer pointed out that Chloe is the most important person in his life. That he can't forgive himself for whatever she put her through. And I love that Chloe counter that by telling Lucifer it was him who haven't accepted his identity, that she is okay with who he is, demon and all, so, the problem is really him.
yet she cannot look at him directly when he is in his true form ,,, he is not the problem ,, the problem is everyone else who thinks he is the evil becuase of how he looks in his true form ,, infact everyone convinced him that its evilness in him that makes him look like that ,, did you see how his huan form emerged once he started to forgive himself ,,, his character , personality does not change when he takes his true form ,, its his identity ,, the human form he takes is actually a facade
kerene wright I think they used to limit how many covers they would use at Fox due to the extra expense of using licensed songs. Netflix opened up the music budget for S4 and it’s been wicked. :)
@@shancooley1619 to be fair, some of the covers they used worked well for the scenes they were used, whether they adjusted the scene to the song or vice versa. But yeah, I'm glad that Netflix pretty much dumped a pile of money on their desk and was like "Have fun!" Then left them alone. Sometimes this approach works, sometimes it doesn't. But it sure as hell worked here.
All refer to this devil form as the true form of Lucifer. But that is not correct. Lucifer is an angel. And not only that. He was known as the most beautiful and most luminous angel of all Creation. His true form is absolutely beautiful. That form of devil is something he acquires after falling.
Took Chloe a few weeks to understand that for several years, her partner was the actual devil. but she came to terms with this and was by his side. Lucifer may by the devil, but he is still God's son.
This reminded me so much of the late season 3 scenes of Chloe going "no you're not (the devil), not to me." I loved how this season explored how her view of Lucifer can be both damaging (because she tries to drag him to be something he doesn't think he is) and helpful in transforming his own view of himself.
I liked she was all scared about Lucifer demonic form but she was at the same time seeing Lucifer needed someone to tell him that he wasnt poison and that he needed to forgive himself for everything
I love the We in "we did it" in the beginning when he met Chloe even though he was starting to experience actual feelings and empathy he was still rather self centered...I thought this was a major moment in his evolution
I LOVE this scene!! Chloe realized that loving him in his hot human form is easy. But loving him as the Devil is hard. But she did it anyway. She didn’t just overcome her fear, I think this was the moment she realized she could love him through anything. No matter what form he takes, he’s still her Lucifer.
This is the reason I’ll never understand the people who hate on Chloe. She is strong and smart. She’s had her entire world turned upside down because of him and logic says she should hate him because he’s a monster. She has endured and loved him when he couldn’t love himself and that goes all the back to season 1. The episode where the priest died and he was all alone. She came to him. When he told her he wasn’t worthy of her love, she kissed him. When she chose him over Pierce. When she chose to see the man instead of the monster. She’s one of my favorite female characters on any Tv show.
@@PurpleGoddess09 You are damn right! Idk why people are mad. Yes there were times when Chloe messed up but she is only a human. You have to understand everything from her point of view.
All I need is one full season with them together and if that means that it has to end, so be it. But we or I have been waiting 4 seasons for this to happen just to see it out the window. At least 1 season, just one, is all I ask.
I just finished all seasons so far and I love this show. I also feels bad for Chloe in season 4. The whole season she was sad, and it end with lucifer leaving her to keep her safe. It was one of the saddest endings I have seen
This episode shows how these two are meant to be together. She brings out the best in him, while also accepting his other side. Lucifer shows chloe how to trust herself, to believe in her capabilities as a detective. Ughh my Deckerstar heart ❤️❤️😭
Honestly if I see devil like this I would want to give him a hug. Doesn’t matter how monstrous he looks just look at those eyes they are so full of sadness and kindness
It's just, what we see as his monstrous form isn't what they see. I think the humans in the show see a glimpse of hell when they see his face. If they saw what we saw, they wouldn't be so traumatized.
I would shit my pants and pass out, fatally bashing my head on the floor as my lifeless body somersaulted down the stairs in a variety of comical contortions.
You know what I love about Alan Moore for creating Sandman and Lucifer he created characters that show us what makes us fallible in God's heart and eyes Alan Moore is a blessing
I like how she looks up as if in prayer before approaching Lucifer. That moment of 'connection' between Chloe and God followed by her extending herself in order to plead for his self-forgiveness gives her the appearance of being a messenger, which is what you would expect given that God placed her in Lucifer's path through divine intervention. Perhaps Chloe is communicating a message which Lucifer would reject if it came from God directly.
0:52-1:01 Where he says why he hates himself, I felt it seriously! Tom Ellis take a bow! His way of protecting Chloe, to make her go away from him because he's afraid of his true self! It's so pure love!
they keep saying that when the devil falls in love evil will be released, but I don't think they meant evil as in that something bad will happen. "evil will be released" might as well mean that the devil will let go of his "evil" ways and become "not so evil" because of his love for this one girl.
Anyone else just smiling and welling up during this scene to just the end where he basically just jinxed himself. I also kept waiting for someone to ask Kinley where he actually got this prophecy from, I mean, it sounds like it was accurate based on the moment I think he looked at her and felt real love that the demons came all at once, but still.
You can view yourself as a monster, all day, all year long. But till you start saying sorry to yourself, and nobody else, you'll see yourself for who you can be.. It was gold when Lucifer started to.
That's pretty close to reality. Angels are self-actualizing - his devil face, his devil form, he believed he was a monster, so he made himself one. Any-time Lucifer changes, through-out the entirety of the show, it is entirely his doing, whether he understands it or not. Amenedial does the same thing - note how his wings change, become less violent and change color.
+David Pham They can't give him horns. In the 1st season he said that he doesn't have horns, and he is annoyed by the fact that peoples identify him with a goat. We also learn that the reason why peoples think he has horns is because Amenadiel started the rumor as a joke to piss off Lucifer. So Lucifer getting horns would ruin that joke and create a plot hole. His entire design is made to look like his body was burned when he fell from Heaven.
The amazing thing is that Tom's performance was so good that after a minute, I quit focusing on it. Now THAT is acting. I also like that they are making Chloe's reaction realistic. She isn't instantly over it, but she obviously loves him.
Ya know it's funny if you watch this show it kinda makes you think.....people do crimes everyday and use the sentence "The Devil Made me do it" ummm their is a difference between Influence and choosing to do something of your own freewill. God cast Lucifer out of heaven for one Reason because he tried to rebel and take God's place....Every choice you make is one you make on your own
Stephen LaMar he still did bad things before he met chole and I’m guessing when he hurt Job lied to eve caused imperfect humans tried to lie to Jesus and make his imperfect caused WW1 and 2 probably lol and etc it exist I wonder if God will smite him like it says in the Bible or he’ll forgive him
@@DailyDoseofShortsVideos sometimes, I wonder if the actual Devil have remorses for what he have done through millions of years, before the dawn of the earth creation.
the same applies to "God's plan"! People think that God will help, God will intervene instead of taking their life in their hands. Instead of taking strength from their belief when they do something hard, they just give up and take whatever comes their way as god's will, something unavoidable.
You know what would be the most BADASS ending to season 5? Have Chloe become his queen in hell. Like it all ends with an overview of hell leading and zooming in towards them and Chloe walking up these stairs and slowly sitting next to Lucifers throne and the camera slowly starting at her feet and coming up. And then showing her grab Lucifers hand and Chloe wearing this badass dress or something and it shows her and Lucifer looking at each other smiling and then she kisses Lucifer and smiles while saying my angel and they both stare straight ahead as King and Queen and it shows them just staring and a few seconds later Trixie jumps into Lucifers lap and calls him dad and the camera zooms out on them just laughing. Like just imagine that. Not likely but still would be badass.

At 2.19 when Lucifer says, "I don't know HOW TO...." , Tom infuses the words with such a child like innocence, helplessness & vulnerability. Gotta admit, the man is an institution when it comes to voice acting.... IMPRESSIVE!

When he says „I don’t know how to“ it just sounds so broken and it really broke my heart
I like how they made his devil form actually hideous. They could have gone the route of making his form 'initially shocking but alluring upon second glance' but they didn't. It's a good reminder that his self-hatred and self-perception are, in fact, monstrous.
Hideous? Yes.
Badass? Yes.
I agree
I think its nice, contrasting his character representing what people think is evil and thats how they see him, even though humans sins and are their own devils he is mearly justice. If god made humans in his image that means god, angels and demons arn't above humans petty emotions, rather humans are reflections of them and their emotions just minus the whole godly strength and superpowers
His devil form isn't that bad 😒 it's just marred with the scars of hatred and malice and bad deeds
So it's likely never gonna happen.
so sad
Also, he's a fallen angel. His current form is just a twisted representation of that. It doesn't add anything extra, hence no horns or tail.
Crazy Arkansawyer he said that he doesn’t have horns or a tail this is the dc Lucifer
Crazy Arkansawyer the horns are on his wings
Yup. he said in Season 1. me and my husband is rewatching it and he did mention about it.

Yesss I noticed that too
This scene reminds me of the episode where Lucifer helps a priest bring down a drug ring. At one point the priest and Lucifer are on the balcony smoking, talking about a troubled teen boy. During their conversation, this is said:
*Lucifer:* How can you still have faith in this boy?
*Priest:* God has faith in him, in all of us….even in our darkest moments.
*Lucifer:* Oh, you really believe that?
*Priest:* I do. Why don't you?
*Lucifer, sadly:* Because He didn't have faith in me.
*Priest:* I felt that way once too. But now I know, deep in my heart, God has a plan for me.
*Lucifer:* Oh, His plan for me was quite clear.
*Priest:* How do you know it's finished?
Those last words were, in my opinion, so damn powerful. It also proves my point.
Soul0Stealer I miss that priest he is one of the character who had a pure heart
@@kathleenabbu8553 I know. You could tell by the way he reacted when the priest died. Plus we came to find out that the priest knew it was really Lucifer and that God still has a plan for him. Then add in the *God Johnson* episode and you can tell that they really are trying to show Lucifer that God doesn't hate him. That episode was one of the best, in my opinion. You could see that deep down, Lucifer still loves his Father....that he was only angry with Him because he felt rejected.
How I wish they weren't interrupted by that damn nurse. It was so unfortunate.

how much of this season did Chloe Decker spend crying? Feels like a lot.
Fr thought the same thing 😪
What's wrong with that? It makes her human. I feel that women in today's society are becoming more and more embarrassed by their emotions. It's like they're buying into this notion that emotion makes you weak and that women should essentially become more like men and hide their feelings. Which, personally, I find unhealthy and it makes them unsympathetic.
The Dude Abides Did I say anything was wrong with that? All I mentioned is that it felt that Chloe cried a lot this season.
Well she IS a woman. They tend to do that.
She had to get a shit ton of emotions out I guess haha
A hug would be nice at the end💞
Exactly what i thought when i watched this

I was like hug him bitchh 😂
I love the fact that skin over his heart and right eye(the side with which he first gazed at Chloe in premier) first transformed . 😍😘😭
Yeah I'm deckerstar trash 😅
Whoaaa
Now _that_ is attention to detail! 😲 I mean, I'm Deckerstar trash too, but dayum, that's impressive.
I just love the way that he says:
-'I hate that I am poison for anyone who dares to care about me'
With so much hate and dispice of himself, and then
-'Especially you'
With so much love and pain to Chloe, cause he really hates the fact that she was 'afraid' of him. (and that was the last thing he wanted)
And it are these kind of scenes that really shows how talented these actors are. Amazing job! 💕
And writing is.
Musaddhik Islam I agree with you
@@kathleenabbu8553 thank you
This is the most powerful scene between these two characters and you can feel how Chloe wants to run but forces herself to support the man she loves and you can feel how Lucifer wants her to stay away for her own safety but at the same time he doesn’t want to be alone.
Interesting POV
Lucifer certainly isn’t going the direct route of reconciliation with God. Chloe probably is there to help Lucifer learn forgiveness.

The way lucifers face looks when he realizes that chloe is right about him. You can see the emotion on his face

I love how symbolic this scene is. Chloe realizes how much she’s hurt him and he’s trying to forgive himself.
I keep coming back to this scene (really S4 in general because it is absolutely FANTASTIC) and I never realized before that this moment is the perfect payoff from 4x03 when Lucifer and Chloe have that discussion about whether or not Chloe could truly accept him as the Devil.
In 4x03, Lucifer and Chloe have this exchange of dialogue after Chloe finally admits she was attempting to send Lucifer back to Hell because she's absolutely TERRIFIED of him:
Lucifer: "Could you accept me as I am?"
Chloe: "You have no idea how much I want to..."
Lucifer: "Yes, but *COULD* you?"
Chloe: "You could change, it doesn't have to be who you are..."
Lucifer: "But what if it does?" *shows Devil face* "Could you accept me like this?"
Chloe: "... ... I don't know"
Lucifer: "Then I have my answer..."
At this point Chloe's worst fear, and what's now the ultimate breaking point of their relationship, is that Lucifer is inescapably the Devil, and she can't accept that.
Yes, she's still gripped with fear, but something stronger has come over her, *conviction.* So she takes that slow stride towards his bedroom and confronts her LITERAL worst fear, just so she can reach her partner once again and tell him the truth, "YOU NEED TO FORGIVE YOURSELF!"
Her overcoming herself for his sake makes him realize he too can overcome, and as he takes the first step towards self-forgiveness, his Devil form rescinds back in and he is once again back in control.
Good points
Chloe needs to master her fears to help Lucifer master his
Chloe: "Lucifer, you have to forgive yourself"
Lucifer: "I can't."
Chloe: "Why?"
Lucifer: "I don't know how"
(Chloe throws a 'you asshole, what have you done to him!?' look upward.)
Yes but actually well yes
@Rajeswari Ghosh Not currently, no. Chloe and Lucifer aren't married.
@Rajeswari Ghosh As do I. Do you think all of Lucifer's siblings would attend (well you know except for Uriel and Michael)?
@Rajeswari Ghosh That was the best thing to come out of Michael, the news of his brothers and sisters finally appreciating Lucifer after his sacrifice.
GOD CHLOE IS SO BEAUTIFUL HERE HER MAKEUP IS STUNNING
I love that Lucifer pointed out that Chloe is the most important person in his life. That he can't forgive himself for whatever she put her through.
And I love that Chloe counter that by telling Lucifer it was him who haven't accepted his identity, that she is okay with who he is, demon and all, so, the problem is really him.
Wow. Just wow
yet she cannot look at him directly when he is in his true form ,,, he is not the problem ,, the problem is everyone else who thinks he is the evil becuase of how he looks in his true form ,, infact everyone convinced him that its evilness in him that makes him look like that ,, did you see how his huan form emerged once he started to forgive himself ,,, his character , personality does not change when he takes his true form ,, its his identity ,, the human form he takes is actually a facade
“I hate that I am poison to anyone who cares about me” “especially you”😭🥺

Is it me or are the songs for this season got a major upgrade as well?
Yep, OST is amazing this season.
The soundtrack has always been amazing. Thats what's been consistently great in the show the most
kerene wright I think they used to limit how many covers they would use at Fox due to the extra expense of using licensed songs.

I adore chloe in this green dress. She looks different.
This reminded me so much of the late season 3 scenes of Chloe going "no you're not (the devil), not to me." I LOVE this scene!!

If I saw the devil in this form I wouldn't be scared. I would feel sorry for him, especially if this is how he is in real life.

Where he says why he hates himself, I felt it seriously!

As mentioned in the ending episode, it meant demons possessing human bodies and bringing hell on earth..!!
Anyone else just smiling and welling up during this scene to just the end where he basically just jinxed himself. It was gold when Lucifer started to.
Theory:
His devil side is actualy his mojo affecting himself.

We also learn that the reason why peoples think he has horns is because Amenadiel started the rumor as a joke to piss off Lucifer. So Lucifer getting horns would ruin that joke and create a plot hole. His entire design is made to look like his body was burned when he fell from Heaven.

the same applies to "God's plan"! People think that God will help, God will intervene instead of taking their life in their hands. Instead of taking strength from their belief when they do something hard, they just give up and take whatever comes their way as god's will, something unavoidable.
