🔸 Centre of gravity of the boat (G): point through which all the weights constituting the yacht and its contents may be assumed to act.
🔸 Centre of buoyancy (B): centre of gravity of the displaced volume of water through which the total buoyancy may be assumed to act.
LCB denotes its longitudinal position measured from midships or the forward perpendicular (FP) and is generally expressed as a ratio of the waterline length (LWL). VCB denotes its vertical position.
🔸 Centre of flotation (F): geometric centroid of a waterplane area. It is the point at which a cutout of the waterplane area could be perfectly balanced on the tip of a pin.
LCF denotes its longitudinal position measured from midships or the forward perpendicular (FP) and is generally expressed as a ratio of the waterline length (LWL).
