This was their 1st hit single⊠and what a string of hits they had over the decades. Lou Gramm⊠what a voice!
yep soooooo much good music from them takes me right back to highschool :)
@@brianlamb7937 I was 25 and in the AF, but yes.
@@brianlamb7937 My Senior Year in High School !!
Their very first hit single hahađ
Lou Gramm. One of the best rock voices ever!
â€
A National Treasure
Can never ever go wrong with Foreigner. Tons of hits over the years, very large rabbit hole.
"Cold as Ice" should be the next great song on your to do list, guys!!!
YES! Cold as ice. I just LOVE Lexi's reactions.
Absolutely yes love that song!
Especially if they can find the SNL version
Or Head Games, no one has covered that one yet
Foreigner is one in my top 10 ALL TIME- Yâall gotta hear/watch their song âWaiting for a girl like youâ for an epic power ballad! Also âI wanna know what love is.â Plus many more of their bangers! I should have check but if you havenât done âHot Bloodedâ, itâs a must. As well as âJukebox Heroâ and much more- one of those deep rabbit đ holes FOR SURE- The first đđ» 2 listed above will show you a different and beautiful side to them- đ
Cold as ice. đŻ
Saw them in 2010 at the Ohio State fair. They were still F'ing Great! Sounded exactly like this. Can't say the same for Eddy Money who opened for them. So drunk he couldn't even finish the set....was sad.
Foreigner, Journey, Styx, REO Speedwagon could be classified as "arena rock" bands, Generally dismissed by critics, but every tour they sold out arenas coast to coast. Fans still love and remember these bands, while the elitist critics are long forgotten.
So true...add Boston to that list...they should all be in the Rock Hall!
I just wonder what the heck they had to critique. Any critic who would speak I'll of Foreigner would have no credit with me
Brad is so the guy who goes with his best "girl" friend to the concert, and stands there listening to the music, while Lex is that girl who dances and waves the lighters, shouting at the band, and just living it. Both won't get home from the concert without the other. It's cute.
Sheâd be on his shoulders!
Exactly!
My mother spent a Christmas dinner in the late 70s with the lead guitarist, Mick Jones. Long story short, she had relatives in England and a family friend who's son played backup guitar during a few live performances, so she was able to meet the band backstage as a kid. She told me that she was so starstruck and quiet sitting next to him at the dinner table, and he got her a stuffed koala (not the real thing lol). Anyway, that's why I've been a huge Foreigner fan since as long as I can remember.
70âs-80âs Powerhouse band with tons of hits. This was one of their biggest.
Lou Graham is up there with the greats. Incredible vocal range.
Theyâre still touring albeit with a different singer.
This is from Foreigner's debut album "Foreigner", which is fantastic. My favorite cut is "Long, Long Way From Home"
How in the hell do these rock singers get such distinctive voices?
You can tell the generation of the listeners to these classic rock songs without even looking at the listeners. For those of us over 50 who remember songs like this when they first became hits, we're amused when we hear snippets of them being used in commercials nowadays. For the under-50 crowd, the listeners seem surprised to heat that there was an actual song behind the 20 second snippet used in the Burger King commercial.
Such a great band, right at the time the decade needed a fresh infusion of hard rock. There's a reason that this tune hit #4 on the top 100, when disco was inundating us everywhere. SO much radio play in the late 70s.
Foreigner's 1st Album Simply Titled Foreigner !! The Original Line Up - Lou Gramm - Lead Vocal's - Mick Jones - Lead Guitar and Vocal's - Ian McDonald - Keyboard's / Guitar's / Saxophone / Flute and Vocal's - Al Greenwood - Keyboard's / Synthesizer's - Ed Gagliardi - Bass / Vocal's - Dennis Elliott- Drum's / Vocal's !!
Hot Blooded, Cold As Ice and Double Vision should follow. You two stay safe and be well always !
I remember when that album came out I believe it was 1977 it was fiređ„lot of good tracks on that album that never get played â the damage is done â â star rider â cold as iceâ
You better believe it! The best songs for me on that album are rarely played or spoken of. But you and me know it John!.."The damage is done!", "Star Ride!r" etc..
Any Foreigner song is a great pick! Love "Hot Blooded".
"Urgent" is another one of my personal favorites...
"A more amped up Journey" - EXACTLY!
one of the top 5 voices of all time
Brad & Lex, their "I Want To Know What Love Is" and "Double Vision" are next for you!!
Brad mentioned Cold as Ice so I'm thinking they did it.
@@bothellkenmore ok, must have been in a live stream, not seeing separate reaction. thx
They did both cold as Ice and Urgent but they got blocked đ©
@@roydivo6189 thank you
This was cutting edge music in 1977. Great band, one of the best of all time.
Lou never really garnered the respect he deserved as a vocalist.
One of the best classic pop rock songs of all time. All the elements are there: the voice, guitar, keys, bass, drums, the hooks, the stellar production. And I never would have guessed, a hollow body Gibson es 330 (or Epiphone Casino?) guitar was used on this song (dude on the right- forget his name.)
One of the top 10 rock vocalists, especially his studio vocals. Seen them live twice and were great.
God bless Lou Gramm! Such a soulful voice. Early Foreigner was the shiz. Long, Long Way From Home, Blue Morning, Blue Day, Dirty White Boy, Double Vision, Head Games... so many gems from these guys.
the story of the band is pretty cool. the guitar guy is a songwriter from England who came to new york to get a band and a singer to play his kick ass songs. essentially, he's the foreigner :^V
Mick Jones
Mick Jones is an American musician. He went to UK,but he found success in France. He was,for a couple of years, the guitar player for the biggest French rock'n'roll star,Johnny Hallyday.Mick Jones wrote some French hits for him .But he had a plan, like you said..
@@johnrectangle6034 he's English
@@JohnSmith-oe4ci Oh Thanks,I always thought he went back to the States after trying to find a way of living in Europa.
No! Journey is not all just ballads. Youâve only just heard mostly ballads recommended from them. DIG DEEPER! They have bangers too! La do da, Line of Fire, Dixie Highway, Keep on Runninâ, Escape, Raised on Radio, Be Good to Yourself, Ask the Lonely,⊠not to mention the pre-Steve Perry prog rock Journey. These cats are ex-Santana alumni. Donât sleep on Journey!
Yet another classic Foreigner rift! They had so many!
watching lex react to music is so precious
One of the great starting riffs to a rock single in history. You can close your eyes and see them opening a concert with this song.
The amazing vocals of Lou Gramm đ„đ€đ„° I remember where I was when I first heard this song!!!
Whatâs sad is this was before the MTV era and music videos werenât a regular thing with all songs. I was a kid when this came out and have heard this song a million times but I was TODAY years old when I saw this video; I never knew it existed. So it REALLY feels like the first time!
Me neither.
8 track gold from the 70âs.a little bit of this and Steve Miller Band Jungle Love and maybe throw out some REO Speedwagon, and wind it up with Bob Seger. How we did it in the Burbs back in the day. Remember the custom painted vans with murals in the side.
Lex is an absolute treasure. Her reactions are the best. â€
I was in 5th grade when this came out, and Iâll listen to it anytime it comes on. Treasure and banger!
Great tune from Foreigner...you've heard it in a zillion commercials like a lot of other 80's tunes. Louis Gramm had such a great voice.
Hey Brad, the funniest part of this was when you said you were starting to figure out how Lex thought đ€Łđ€Ł
Big hit when it came out, played all over FM radio. This song made Foreigner famous.
This is the shortened version of this great song. The regular version is a lot better. Awesome vocals from Lou Gramm.
Yes, this is the radio single version. It chops out a few bits from the longer, better-flowing album version.
What a Voice
Awesome song
Awesome Group
All these years and I never even knew there was a music video of this.
Singer lives about five miles from me. Met him once, grocery store, super-nice guy.
Health food section. Everyone always recognizes him when he's there.
Never knew there was a video for this song. Cool. Was a big fan of Foreigner back in the day.
Saw them in concert when they were hot and Billy Squire opened for them good times.
One of the best singers. I don't think I've ever heard him use falsetto.
Saw Foreigner around '84/'85. Joe Walsh opened for them. One of the best concerts I've seen, and easily one of the loudest
too. It took days for my ears to recover. Good times. lol
Truly a rock classic.
I love how youâre rocking the Eddie Van Halen dewrag colors like his classic guitar and rocking the slayer shirt. You go Lex!!
The amazing Lou Gramm on vocals!!!!!
The answer to the "what's feels like the first time all about?" question is obvious:
LOVEMAKING!
*I saw them in 1978 at my first concert...I was almost 16 yrs at an all day concert: Cal Jam 2.*
I'd be willing to bet that Lex heard it being done acapella in Pitch Perfect.
Was going to put this comment in, but figured I'd search for the same from someone else, and sure enough....!
The synth break in this always hits me hard, that melody is just genius.
You hit my favorite band from high school. They were huge in the late 1970's and early 1980's. Lou Gramm is one of the very best rock singers ever. Listen to The Damage Is Done, Girl on the Moon, Head Games, Urgent...and many more.
Lou Gramm, the master, sadly he suffered a stroke or aneurysm and it did some damage for a long time, decades.. dood has serious pipes... top rock vocalist ever
This is one of a few CD's I keep in the garage to listen to while working on projects. I can listen to this album all the way through and like every song. "I need you" is a song that never recieved the air play that it deserved. Just an excellent song.
This band was a hit factory...tons of good catchy tunes. Lou's solo career was pretty successful as well.
Brad and Lex, you two are the most joyful couple to watch. God bless you both!
I still have a tough time wrapping my head around that fact that Ian McDonald from early King Crimson went on to play on the first three Foreigner albums.
Why?
musicians go where the money is. that rent don't pay itself.
RIP Ian.
đ â †đ¶ đ đ Ian
And Mick Jones was in Spooky Tooth
The first time everytime. đ
Always solid bass in Foreigner songs
What song choices! You guys just never disappoint. You and Daniel profeta are all I listen to or need any more in a music reaction channel.
You guys are "Brilliant"!! The both of you together are what make this channel work "perfect chemistry".Others must agree, for I see a "Quarter Million" subs closing in! Shine on Diamonds!.đ Awesome!
Foreigner's first four albums were Fire!
Urgent, Urgent, Urgent!
Love Foreigner songs.
So much of the music from that era has been in movies, commercials, etc. Hard to not have heard lots of these tunes. Even if it was just a little piece of it. Peace!
Rochester's finest.
Rochester's own Lou Grammatico â€
Lou Gramm one of the great lead vocalists of all time ..... the first Foreigner album is Hall Of Fame Classic
Definitely a late 70s feel to this track as well :)) Thanks guys .....
Come on Brad! You can't be that wholesome. We all know what "the first time" refers to. :)
This song was forever playing on the jukebox at the municipal pool when I was a kid.
It was sang in first pitch perfect movie by the treble makers acapella group
I was just about to type that
This has been in a number of movies, Magic Mike, Pitch Perfect, Anchorman 2, and also is in the Guitar Hero, Warriors of Rock game.
The Whole Album Smokes !! 1977
Brad always looks puzzled at the music he hears lolol Lex, on the other hand is always moving with the grooves and wearing a brilliant smile lol love it! xo
I'm in love now biatch!!! She never got into a song more...yeah?! Foreigner rules!!
Love me some Foreigner!
Hey guys what's up! Greetings from South Florida! Seeing these guys live three times, they never disappoint live. Although some of the members are different they still have the same vibe. You guys rock! God bless you! Peace!
B & L....you've probably heard "Feels Like..." in a movie, commercial, football game, basketball game...it's one of those tracks that is used in several, several commercials..keep it going you two, you have the formula. peace
The original lineup was awesome. The bassist, the late Ed Gagliardi, was the older brother of a classmate of mine, Maryann. Great musician, great doting brother and family man. After his time with Foreigner, he and fellow former Forigner member, keyboard player, Al Greenwood formed a band, SPYS. You should check them out. They were real good too. Check out their song, "She Can't Wait". Link: czcams.com/video/-Ocb7lvVW5E/video.html
Journey and Foreigner back then went head to head on hits!
And Boston
And Boston
You go girly girl this is just awesome you love this.
Foreigner's first album is one of the best debut albums ever
This Is The Edited Version, The Album Cut Is So Much Better !!
It still blows my mind that Foreigner is not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Just wrong!
or Foghat!
It's such an odd omission, that it's suspicious.
@@marcmarc1967 yet they put RAP artists in? that makes zero SENSE!
overshadowed by Zeppelin in the 70s and Early 80s music
Love you guys! Lucky man she's beautiful â€ïžđ€©
Mick Jones is an underrated guitarist. Prove me wrong
Foreigner had a lot of hits. Their first album is my favorite album of theirs, every song from it is solid.
God, I love Foreigner. one of my top 5 bands all time
More FOREIGNER!!!
Foreigner has never been nominated to the Rock'n'roll hall of fame.
possibly the best voice ever in Rock
One of my favorite cover songs to play! Always loved the band.
Maybe you heard the song by watching âMagic Mikeâ? Lovin your Van Halen neckerchief Lex
Thx! I like the way you âget into itâ right off the bat! Watching you both learn these classics teaches me to hear and appreciate parts I had overlooked! You both have logical, sensible and delicious comments! Please turn on to Louis Prima and Keely Smith! Their characters reminds me of you but reverse! Okay!
This is such a great song!!
The chorus of this song is sang in Pitch Perfect in the "riff off" section of the movie. Maybe that's where Lex heard it..???
Foreigner is just such a cool band.
1977 Iâm 17 & just moved out & into my first apartment & this album got played constantly. Such great memories, great time to experience great music
Great stuff from Lou and the guys = hoping Loverboy is coming soon
Nice nod to Van Halen with the attire =)
