  • In this lesson to help you speak American English, we will look at some foods in English that begin with the letter, "R." A huge thank you to ‪@TeacherMikeEnglish‬ for sending along a few responses.
Here is a link to all of the food lessons: • How to Talk About Food...
Radish: a radish is a small, round, crunchy vegetable usually eaten raw. It can be red, white, or purple and has a peppery taste.
Raisin: A raisin is a dried grape. It's sweet and chewy and comes in different colors like dark purple or golden.
Raspberry is a small, soft fruit that is usually red or sometimes black, purple, or golden. It has a sweet-tart flavor.
Ratatouille: Ratatouille is a vegetable stew from France made with tomatoes, eggplant, zucchini, bell peppers, onions, and herbs. Great for vegetarians.

Thank you, Brent, at first I thought the lesson was going to be boring, since it‘s about food and I’m not quite into that. However, it became interesting real quick as I was watching it. Your selection of food is not obvious and also some terms you are using to better describe the taste are new to me, I appreciate your effort in bringing it all together

    Thank you, Brent!
I personnaly don't like radish but we grow it in our garden and it it's usually eaten in thin slices on bread. Rutabaga was grown around here a lot when I was young , we either fed them to our cows or my grandma made a delicous rutabaga stew for our family 😋. We seeded Rutabaga in the garden and when the first fall barley field was harvested in early July the small rutabagas were planted there. Weed control had to be done by hand with a hoe ,so It's not a common crop anymore😢

Hi, Brent! Thank you so much for the interesting lesson.
We often add radishes to salads with cucumber and tomato. Also we have a dish called okroshka. It is a cold soup that is made with radishes, cucumbers, and other vegetables.
Thanks again for the excellent lesson!

Ciao Brent, radishes are full of antioxidants too and we eat them raw accompanying other diahes.
Btw, I love your colorful sunglasses 😀.
My favorite 'R' food is Rishta رشتة, a Syrian/Levantine vegeterian dish made of lentils, pasta, onions, garlic، coriander and of course lots of olive oil plus other spices like black pepper, sumac and chilli pepper if you like, look it up online.
Take care, untl next time 👋

"If something is going to be unhealthy, it's probably going to be invented in the United States" 😂 Great lesson, despite being unhealthy, American foods are generally so well marketed. Also, have you ever done a video showing the American educational system?
