To climb V5+ on the moon board do you need super finger strength? I have just sent a couple of V5's in my gym but on the moon board I can barely do the easiest V3's, simply finger strength is holding me back? Anyone else noticed this?
You have discovered the essence of the Moonboard! The moonboard on overhang is meant to train the finger and upper body strength and movement competency needed to send hard boulders and as such it’s just a harder style of climbing than basically anything else. Also the grades are super sandbagged below v7. I recommend turning the lights off and and just climbing on whatever holds you want as part of your gym warm up over a course of a few weeks . Then try your v3s again (start with most repeated . See how you do. You might be surprised at how much more natural it feels.
Would be nice if you would film the board straight on (all the time when you actually climb) and not from the side so I can properly see your climbing. Sure it looks cooler from the side but it defeats the purpose of the video in my opinion. Maybe is just me.
