I am a 25 year paramedic. Great video!
I carry basically the same kit.
My only addition would be alcohol wipes (or whatever wound cleaning solution you prefer) and superglue.

As an ER and trauma helicopter doc i can say this is really good advise. I got one tip for ya: Wound glue, this has saved me countless times. If you cant get hold of it use superglue, its the same stuff just more brittle. Don't get it inside the wound, just a film on the skin surface while squeezing the wound closed. Dry it well first. To clean wounds just use lots of clean water, don't use antiseptics as these all delay healing.

Manuka honey is really good stuff too to put under bandages. It helps dry the wound and is one of the best antibiotics out there. My grandpa had MRSA that was burrowing a hole in his forehead and almost got to his brain. The doctors ran out of options and told him he was going to die. We finally convinced the clinic to put Manuka honey on the bandages and the infection was cleared up in 3 days. It can be taken internally for infections as well and is the only thing that can take out chronic bacterial biofilm infections.

Love your videos! I’ve learned so much from the info you’re graciously, and freely, putting out there!
One quick note is that an Israeli bandage is not, and should not be used as a substitute for a tourniquet. It’s a pressure bandage, but will not and does not function in the same way as a tourniquet. Tourniquets are for life threatening or uncontrollable bleeds on limbs, pressure dressings are for non life threatening bleeds, or to be used in conjunction with hemostatic gauze for a junctional or non-compressible wound.
Some things I will add to my first aid kit that I took away from this video are the mini dry bags, Imodium (great idea!) as well as some extra fire starter stuff.

KISS. Not for you, but to summarize why this video is a great approach to first aid. 👍

I know this is an older video, but I want to chime in for anyone watching it.
Concerning the 55 gallon contractor bag in lieu of an emergency blanket, this is simply not true. You are far better off with one of the really thin mylar thermal blankets. The reason this is the case is due to how the covering is keeping you warm, and it has nothing to do with thickness.
There are three modes of heat transfer : conduction, convection, and radiation.
Mylar thermal blankets work by reflecting the thermal radiation that is being emitted from your body, back towards your body. This is achieved by utilizing a material (generally aluminum foil) that has a high reflectivity, or low emissivity (this doesn't necessarily mean shiny). Emmisivity values for materials range from 0 to 1.
The reason why a plastic bag will not function as well as an aluminum foil mylar blanket is because of the drastic difference between the emmisivity of the materials. Remember, low emissivity = higher reflectivity = more thermal radiation (heat) being reflected back to your body.
The emissivity for plastics, generally, is ~ 0.90-0.97.
    For aluminum, 0.04.
Simply put, a thin aluminum foil mylar blanket will be ~24 times better at keeping you warm than a plastic bag.
Now concerning thickness in general, it is certainly a better idea to get a thicker mylar blanket, in case you are in a situation where you have to move while wrapped up in the blanket. A thicker blanket will be more difficult to tear in that situation.
Sorry for the long explanation, but given this is a video on emergency gear that could be used in a life or death situation, I felt it was appropriate. Appreciate the content you put out, I have found it very useful.

Excellent video. As a police officer and hunter I carry a cat tourniquet, combat gauze, Israeli pressure bandage and hi fin chest seal. I recommend all hunters and outdoorsman carry them also in the wild and also in their vehicle Like Cliff stated you should practice with your tourniquet and Israeli bandage. I’ve showed my children how to use them. When seconds count you better know how to stop an arterial bleed. As a Homicide detective I’ve seen many high power rifle (223, 7.62x39) wounds. Magnum hunting rounds can do twice the damage of 223/7.62x39 !!!!!! A hi fin chest seal might not cover the grapefruit sized exit wound!!!!!! But if you can keep one lung going there might be hope. We were trained that you can use a potato chip bag (aka west side tumbleweed) as a chest seal. Yes l, I’m in Chicago! Train with your life saving gear. I’ve seen countless victims, and bad guys, survive high velocity rifle wounds. At the hands of Chicago Police Officers, Fireman, Paramedics and very talented Trauma Surgeans! Carry your IFAK in the field. Always be ready!
