  • The Tiny Tach for my airplane died. It is most likely an original, meaning it was installed 20 years ago. So, the battery did last a very long time! I ordered a replacement, however, I figured I would see what it takes to replace the cheap battery inside this sealed unit. Hope all of you who watch, get something out of this short video. Cheers.
Follow along as I rebuild, repair, and upgrade a Challenger 2 ultralight airplane. Ultimately I will be flying this airplane into the north country of Canada, on fishing and camping trips, as soon as she is ready to fly.

Interesting video....as always, but ONLY 360P? That´s kinda like flying at an altitude of 30 meters....in town 😂😂

CZcams is taking longer than usual to process the HD version. It was shot in 1080p, so the high res should be up shortly.

I’ve never used one of those mini spot welding tools, but I’m wondering if it could hurt the battery or the electronics? There are also amazing new soldering techniques I would like to try as well, but they seem to good to be true? As always I appreciate these videos 👍

The current flows from one probe to the other, so the electronics and the battery are not effected at all. Don't use too large of a battery, as this kind of tool has no output regulation other than timing. A motorcycle battery or small yard tractor battery is about the right size.

I LOOKED ON MY TINY TACH AND IT SHOWS IT IS ON WHICH GREAT BUT THE AIRCRAFT ISNT DONE YET. IS THERE A WAY TO TURN IT OFF.

They never turn off. Battery is expected to last at least 5 years, some have lasted over 10. They are a great little unit, but now their are some others on the market that have replaceable batteries. Which I feel is a much better option.

Tiny tach crap. They couldn’t have put a door to replace battery. Oh yes planned obsolescence I get it. I will never buy another one of these stupid tachs
