Linkin park one of the of the best bands I’ve ever seen live. Worked in the music industry for 6 years and they were rarely bested when it came to live shoes and I have seen literally 1000’s of Bands live. Chester’s passion and the consummate musicianship of the band were a match made in heaven RIP Chester.
Okay I think its unfair to compare Linkin Park to NIN. Nine Inch Nails has been doing this forever and has arguably inspired an entire generation. To me Linkin Park covering NIN is the ultimate show of their respect to the Masters! Respect! Not Competition.
Trent Reznor's music has always inspired Linkin Park specially Mike Shinoda. He was the pioneer of Nu metal, Hip Rock and Industrial music. Everyone from Eminem, Marilyn Manson, LP, David Bowie etc. have been inspired by him, A true legend.
Nine Inch Nails came before Korn. Nine Inch Nails was formed in 1988. Korn- 1993 Thus wrong. Nine Inch Nails beat them to the " Nu Metal/Industrial metal "genre
The feeling of listening to Linkin Park come up with the best Nine Inch Nails cover, of a Nine Inch Nails song that is nearly impossible to make a good cover of, is truly breathtaking.
I’ve seen nine inch nails perform this song live in Toronto 3 times. This is the only band that could ever pull off a nine inch nails cover as well as these boys did this day. :).
Another cover I never knew they did. When I first heard Meteora I could taste influence from Trent Reznor. This solidifies my theory that they enjoyed NIN. This song is a personal favorite of mine. When NIN did their tour and at the Toyota center for With Teeth, and that song was played I was in the nose bleeds. As soon as that drum line hit in the opening I evacuated every square inch of my lungs. It was electric to be there. To hear that song. Knowing Linkin Park chose it as a rare concert cover... Hot damn... My love for both bands runs deep. Linkin Park owns a space in my heart as wide as NIN AND Tom Petty. Check that out for a trio.
Wish is one of my most favorite songs and for me, in my own honest opinion, Linkin Park gave this cover some justice. I will always love the original but this cover comes in the playlist as well. They tried owning the song, added their style into it to make it sound more like them and not just some copy of Nine Inch Nails and they did very well! Always a fan of these 2 awe-inspiring bands!!
I just love watching vids of LP live. Chester brings so much intensity to the stage, more than any other band that ive seen. I can only hope that one day I can be there.
NiN's version is just as good as this cover imo But, y'know, LP didn't do this cover to be _better_ than NiN. It's a tribute. So saying one is better than the other I'd say misses the point. If you don't like one or both, that's fine. But if you get srs about this shit, then get a grip.
Adam VanDerBaan -OMG what a cover!!! So beast...Grew up listen to LP, thank you sooo much Chester, catch u in the next one. Their are other worlds than this one.
Every Time I see a cover of a famous band performed by another famous band there's always so many "boooooz", "they-killed-the-songz" and "Stay-true-to-the-original-or-go-rot-in-hellz". Those guy don't even think for 2 minutes or they would have realised that it's a tribute to the original artist, not a rip-off... In the end, it's only some fans, making a cover of a song they like. Musicians will know exactly what I'm talking about, open minded people will too. And for the remaining ones... please go away.
Markku Koljonen i was personally insulted at their ministry cover "theives".. i liked limp bizkit and still listen to 3 dollar billz regularly (still an incredible album), but those days are gone..
Well, their cover is really close to the original song and they also re-used the logo from the original thieves album. Yeah kind of a disapointment to see such a simple rearrangment when LB is known for giving a new taste to old songs, Faith for instance... But Actually, I still like LB, I think they 're an okay-ish group, if not the massive ammount of brutality, lucidity and random they used to be.
It's always a hard ball to touch songs like this, and Nine Inch Nails, Ministry, Type o'negative or Rammstein (aso!) are basically very, very challenging bands! P.S. Seek Breathe by Ministry! ;)
Damn good cover, which is saying something... nin is some big shoes to fill, but chester's awesome heartwrenching screams gave the song depth, thumbs up!!!
@@ericjohnson7996 Nair: I can see why you think that, because the original song has a lot going on and the synth melody is kind of buried in the mix, which, obviously that's How Trent wanted it on the album, but it sounds pretty great this way, too!
Good sir I’m going to have to say here that you are so incredibly wrong, and don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love Nine Inch Nails and Linkin Park, but Wish the song they’re playing came out in 1992, much before Linkin Park was a band, and yes their styles are similar in certain ways, but they are also both astronomically unique bands in their own rights, I recommend you listen to the original song of Wish by Nine Inch Nails and even maybe a live version of it, it is an amazing song that deserves credit in its own right
Longtime fan of both bands. NIN fanatic, own every release and worship Reznor as the God that he is. TOTALLY prefer this version to the "Broken" one. The original had weak sounding drums. The kick and snare sounded thoroughly artificial. Absolutely no balls. I have to disagree with Reznor's production choices as well. The guitar's verse riff is distorted beyond rhythmic clarity. Imprecise. "Wish" has always been a song that, like much of Rez's pre-TDS material, adapts better to a live environment. And LP totally fucking kills it in the best possible way. Bourdon's drumming is fierce as fuck, the rhythms are distinct across the guitar/bass section, and Chester's screaming is far better suited to the song than Rez's voice was in '92. (I don't think Rez's screaming hit a decent level until at least TDS with tracks like "Eraser", and totally came into his own by the time "Somewhat Damaged" was recorded. Rez's "Broken" and PHM vocals are too nasal for my taste). As far as each band's original material goes, they're incomparable. LP's "A Thousand Suns" sits right up there with my favorite albums (Hesitation Marks being one of them), and for totally different merits than what Nine Inch Nails has achieved over many years of musical brilliance. Why shit on one band's talent while exalting the other? Two great bands, one doing justice to the material of another.

This was f**king awesome!!! Wish has always been my favorite NIN song, ever since seeing the video for it, way back in 1992 on MTV's Headbanger's Ball, when I was just 13 years old. I just really hate that it took until March 2024 for this video to finally cross my path/my feed. Every single person in LP killed this cover, though, 100 f**king percent!!! Such a killer, and versatile, band. If things hadn't ended the way they did, and with the awful tragedy, I do often wonder what the band would have ended up doing, or trying, next.
Chester fucking killed that. Never was a huge LP fan but I’m always ready to give credit where it’s due.

He really did a great job with this one. I'm not a Linkin Park fan but wow
