i really love this guy's singing and i am so glad he got his life back and with a woman who stood by him. it's not easy. i am 62 and i have struggled for a long time with addiction. my husband has stood by me through it all and i would not be alive and clean and sober today if he hadn't stood by me. i am inspired by charlie and so happy for him! thanks for posting!!!!
People need to stop talking about the mans wife. The pretty girls were only around when he had money. This woman stuck with him thru his addiction and the hardest parts of his life. She took his hand and walked all the way thru the bullshit with him. THIS IS REAL TRUE LOVE. And no amount of beauty could ever compare to it.

Charlie should write a book. He gave me some great advice about the industry back in 1980. In a previous interview he was on point when he said " The Music Industry Will Chew You Up And Spit You Out."

A very inspiring story. I am 3'years older than Charlie. I remember the Gap Band. I loved their music, but I knew nothing about his life until now. I've heard of "management" robbing artists and holding them captive. I've heard of celebrities losing their grip on life due to drug addiction, Few stories end this well. God bless everyone involved in the making of his recovery. I am filled with joy right now. I will buy his book because I want to know all about.
It just goes to show you that what God has for you is undeniable and I am so glad for Charlie. He is a blessed man because of his Humility and the fact that he persevered through it all. Now look at him. There is only one "Uncle Charlie". "Goodie" needs to see your success. He, too, made it through.

It's a damn good thing he was able to turn his life around and get back to doing what he did best. Charlie still had tons of music and good times to give everyone, his life didn't deserve to go the way it did once The Gap Band fell apart from business bullshit, and it would've been a horrible shame if he just faded away from that point on.

i was homeless and deep into my addiction and i realize that, the latter rain is so much better., We go threw so that we can come out and then into new beinging a fresh new start. What a beautiful testament to just how great God is. There is nothing to hard for God. so often when a person has a call upon their life, the enemy will try to steal their life away from them , but then God steps in brings he brings the purpose back . I look at the journey that led me to preach his word and it all helped me to be more determined!
This talented man's story is a condemnation of the music industry which I myself have seen take advantage of and cheat the talent that sells the music. I'm so happy to see that Charlie was able to survive his hard times and find a wonderful mate to make his life happy. He has given so much happiness to so many people, he deserves all he has and the love and respect of his fan. Thank you Charlie for many, many happy hours of dancing!

This makes me so sad for Charlie & what happened to him & his brothers. They were one of the first bands out of Oklahoma to make it really big, and with them being Black it was an extra source of pride to see them do so well. Now I see that in truth they weren't doing so well really. I hope the people who stole from them got/are getting their comeuppance, & I congratulate Charlie for being a survivor. I'm sad for the loss of brother Robert today as well.

He was a great singer and I am happy for him and his wife. I Know this is possible bit it has to ne a choice that two people choose not the world. That's the problem in the world today to many people focused on other people stuff, issues that don't belong to them. We were taught to judge, debate and speak on stuff that we all need to deal with bit somehow think that we are better for questioning everything instead of seeing self and trying to live and do better for self and other people which is a life time task and needs no outside influences unless it is good for us. Charlie remains consistent with his story.
