In fairness to Caitlyn, Vi totally ditched her at the brothel without saying a word; honestly, it's impressive that Caitlyn was able to find Vi in time. I'm guessing she followed the sounds of the fighting.
Actually Amanda Overton who wrote this episode stated, that they had to cut the scene in the brothel. In the deleted scene Caitlyn sees Vi leaving, curses (very subtle of course😉) and follows her.

@@vsGoliath96 Yeah. A lot of the nuance of this show is that many of the main perspectives have some validity to them, even if the means they use to pursue their goals aren't the most agreeable. We see that evoked as early as episode 2, where we see Jayce's side of the laboratory burglary, from just on the other side of the door. Not agreeing with someone's perspective soesn't automatically mean that they're evil or flat out wrong, just that their history and perspective is different.
For example: from Jinx's perspective, Enforcers are all faceless, violent monsters who beat up and murder people just trying to get through life. Killing faceless implacable monsters is fine, right? It's not like they're people. And anyone who stands next to them, well, they should have been running and not standing next to them. (Just to use that as a hypothetical Jinx POV, which helps nail down her somewhat gleeful reaction to Silco confronting her about killing Enforcers and blowing up a building in episode 4.)
@@btgardener39 And then, of course, the show decides to remind us that those Enforcers are people with that lovely funeral scene that poor Marcus has to preside over, knowing that he's at least partially to blame with his devil deal with Silco. Fantastic series.
Not to mention that, snarky as it was, the other Enforcers do have a point when they ask Caitlyn why she's even there. She's the daughter of one of the most powerful women in the country. There's no reason for her to be down on the streets as a beat cop, at least from their perspective.
@@btgardener39 I don't think there's a single character in this show who's pure good or evil, not even Vander or Silco, they're all different shades of grey, and I've noticed that a lot of reactors don't seem to pick up on the nuance.

I suspect many reactors are so accustomed to the black/white, bad/good patterns of other shows that they automatically drop characters into the category their initial reaction fit and don't re-examine it. I for one am glad this show tries to make people take more than a casual glance at the characters within the story arcs.
I understand most of the hate towards Jayce is due to we all love Viktor, but Jayce really cares for Viktor, the moment he was informed about Viktor being in the hospital he was in bed with Mel and he left her so he could be with him, he just can't stop living his life to babysit Viktor 24/7.
But thats just my opinion, I'm actually enjoying your reactions and comments and can't wait for the rest of the show (: you are doing great

Jayce literally risked upsetting Mel to the point of maybe her ending what they had by leaving her that night to be at Vicktor's side once he knew something went wrong. I feel like if KNEW Vicktor was feeling worse than usual ( he keeps putting it off as he's okay ) than Jayce would have stayed in the lab with him or at least talked him into getting some rest.

Caitlyn's mom is VAGUELY reminiscent of Odalia. On the business side of things. But on a personal level, she's nothing like her. I disagree pretty strongly with that comparison, but I can definitely see how you feel that way at this point. We'll see how the rest of the season will affect that thought!

He wasn't molding her to become just like him, maybe at first, yes but as time passed on, he saw more and more of himself inside Jinx. A lost, abandoned, and traumatized child who was betrayed by family.
Vander forced Silco underwater with murderous intent while Silco gently laid Jinx into the pool.
How was she betrayed by her family????

Marcus is great at digging his own grave but i don’t think he can really back out of this now, it would be the right thing to do and he knows it all too well, but when Silco took Vander’s place all of Vander’s jobs came with it, including making secret deals with the enforcers. Marcus isn’t just another corrupt cop anymore, he unwittingly took Grayson’s place by dethroning Vander all those years back, and if he cuts ties with Silco he cuts ties with the Undercity as a whole, and a person with a family can’t make such a bold decision without expecting perilous repercussions, after all it’s not just his own skin in the game anymore, as his daughter could end up taking the punishment for him at worst.

Marcus isn't interested in maintaining ties with the Undercity. Infact he wants the opposite. The situation here is that Silco has his by the balls. Blackmail of his involvement in Grayson's death with a side of threat to his daughter and his own well being.

However as long as he has a family he doesn’t have an easy way out of his (blackmail fortified) “alliance” with Silco. This doesn’t change the fact that he’s an enforcer making deals with the leader of the Undercity, thereby covering Silco’s ass, and by extension, the hierarchy of the Undercity. The crucial difference between this situation and Vander and Grayson is that both Vander and Grayson had a shared holistic passion for the peace and well being of the Downsiders, as well as Grayson being the essence of what an enforcer should strive for, whereas Marcus is a poor
@@govind.m86 I don't think Marcus really cares about the undercity anymore since we never hear any bigotry from him about it after episode 3, watching his partner die in front of him caused him to shift his priorities, or at least that's how I took it. otherwise, why did he save Vi's life and not tell Silco about it?

I'm pretty sure that Vi was convinced that Powder was dead, until Cait showed the "Evil Monkey" drawing.
It seems like she isn't overly upset about regularly having someone come "kick the shit" out of her, which might be an expression of guilt and a sort of self-imposed penance - as she could clearly kick the ass of anyone trying to mess with her if she wanted to... Certainly put up enough of a fight, that they wouldn't be so casual about it.
I don't know if someone has already told you this, but I highly recommend you to watch the official Enemy music video before act 3(eps 7, 8 and 9), the video has scenes that aren't in the show and make some of the events on act 3 more enjoyable.

I wouldn't say "no" worries, there's still issues, just not the ones most people jump too.
I do understand the slight frustration of Jayce that people have, I mean I'd like to think "I have a headache" would not fly with me while my friend is bleeding. However, I do think with this episode in particular people forget that Viktor is his own person. He's roughly the same age as Jayce, he's a grown man who can make his own decisions. He has his own agency. He isn't reliant on Jayce. If he tells Jayce "hey imma stay in the lab and work on this" that is kind of his decision, and it's not really Jayce's fault he passes out. Jayce obviously does still care, and assuming he does notice Viktor's condition he still can't be with him 24/7 with his councilor work on top of his other duties.
the entire Mel/Jayce and Viktor scene was a fantastic juxtaposition and framing, but I see people jumping on Jayce a bit too much for this
I think that Jinx shooting the bird is actually kind of important. It's a good indicator to us, the audience, that Powder is well and truly gone. The merciless and unnecessary killing of animals is considered a pretty accurate indicator of serious mental disorders like psychopathy or sociopathy. Given that Jinx apparently can see the weird scribbles and ghosts of her friends and has all her life (remember the opening scene on the bridge?), it's entirely possible that she's suffering from full blown psychosis at this point. She has no idea what's real or not.

Mel & Jayce are both in their thirties, the power disparity comes from the fact Mel was born into nobility and Jayce used to be a commoner, but he could have totally refused that... to be sort of fair to Jayce he didn't necessarily know or didn't catch on to the fact Viktor was working overtime or to what extent he was overworking himself and when he got the news at the middle of the night that Viktor was in the hospital he arrived right away.
Jayce is not in his 30s. He was at last 19 or 20 in act 1 and they only had a time jump to act 2 of about 7 years.. he is in his 20s. What you are suggesting would put Jayce in his mid to late 20s and being friends in the first act with a no older than 14 Caitlyn 🤨. Uh yeah no
@@SaintBison209 Jayce says he's 24 in episode 2 during the jail scene incase you missed it. Might seem pretty weird for him to be friends with Caitlyn when she's 15-16 years old (confirmed by writers) but they knew eachother because Cait's parents were patroning Jayce's research at the time.

Secondly, I'm going to disagree with comparing Cait's mother with Odalia. Or at least I think given how much I know you hate Odalia, I don't think she's that bad. She does a few things you could definitively disagree with, but she's not nearly as manipulative or awful as the Blight matriarch.
Love the parkour scene, but also want to point out that if Vi really wanted to lose Cait, she easily could've, so it is building trust... in a slightly unorthodox way. Vi is showing Cait that she's not just going to bail on her the first chance she gets, but she's also expecting a bit of space to do things her way. Which we see again when she gets food: Cait wonders if they are going to question the cook, Vi just wanted a meal... or did she, because she gets the lead they needed.
Switching to Jayce and Mel... I think you're not unreasonably upset, but don't judge too soon. Everyone needs to do their parts, and as Mel correctly points out: if they don't play the politics of this situation, the politics will play them. Jayce needs to manipulate the council or he'll see his life's work seized, destroyed, or worst of all: weaponized.
Also, Victor did do whatever he could to hide his sickness. When he realizes what happens, he literally abandons Mel after they just slept together and runs over to Victor.

Writers confirmed she has dated and snuck girls into her room before. In the brothel scene She is nervous around the guy (Pam wot whatever) because she didn’t like him but seems more calm around the women talking about the gardens.

On the whole "pink-haired girl" issue, the Firelight with pink hair was actually the same height (if not just a tad shorter) than Jinx.
At the end of episode 4, you'll notice that her inmate number is tattooed on her back. Number "516" V I VI.
The thing is, Silco genuinely believes everything he is saying to Jinx. He sees himself in her and is trying to heal her in the only way he knows. I'm not saying he's right or non-toxic, but he does not believe he is tricking her or lying.
Considering he openly lies to her in episode 7, screw his beliefs.
@@mten10th67 Yes. he admits he lied upon finding out that Vi was alive. However he genuinely was trying to protect her, which he admits. He really believed that Vi left Jinx, just like Vander abandoned him. Yes he is toxic and a villain, but everything he says to Jinx he 100% believes.

Regardless of the superficial feelings he has for Jinx, the fact that he willfully decided that lying to her was the best course of action negates them. That's not love.
I don't think Jayce doesn't work. I mean the entire research leading up to hextech was his. I just think Viktor obsesses over finding different rune combinations because he's trying to heal himself. Also I don't think Jayce knew just how sick Viktor was.

I just want to disagree with folks who say Caitlyn's mom is on Odalia levels of bad; the two are not really comparable. Unlike Odalia, Cassandra (caitlyn's mom) does trust her daughter, is willing to engage with her and discuss issues, and is overall a much better mother than Odalia. Not saying Cassandra is perfect (she's got biases and certainly isn't a nice woman), but NOWHERE near Odalia.

Yeah, Mel is definitely manipulating him to a degree, just as she manipulates everyone politically. That'll be examined with some backstory for her at the start of episode 8. But I do think she's actually caught feelings for Jayce and his forthright generally good nature, regardless of how she might have initially viewed him, since pretty much everyone else she's surrounded by is corrupt oligarchs.
Basically, my take on it was always that Viktor is a grey-ace leaning towards queer, but too lacking in relationship confidence to ever try to move forward with Jayce, and Jayce is an entitled disaster bisexual who's too egotistical and wanting to please other people to actually push forward on relationships on his own.

With right amount of the therapy, Powder can be saved but you can't save a dead person unfortunately.
I don't necessarily think that's true. I think a big misconception about therapy is that it has the capability to reverse trauma. That's not true at all. Nothing short of erasing your memory can really erase trauma. Therapy is just there to help you acknowledge it in a healthy way and manage your life better. I think Jinx will become a better person eventually, but it won't be Powder, just a healthier version of Jinx. The events of the finale show perfectly why Powder isn't coming back.

I don't think that's the case, she seems fine. I don't see how he'd start wearing make up cause she was scared of his eye when she tackled him an a hug and gets up in his face all the time.
I think it's more likely she started wearing make up (cause she does wear makeup) and she got him into it. I think it's cute. Maybe one day she was bored and started putting her concealer on his face, and eventually taught him how.

They say that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely... but what they have found out more and more in recent years is that it isn't absolute power that corrupts the most. It is just that tiny, piddly little shred of power that corrupts the worst. And, at the end of the day, that's what we see in that guard there. I absolutely love how done you are with the politics and business scene during the opera. It's one of the most important, plot driving scenes in the entire show and you could not give less of a fuck.
Enforcers are a weird one for me. It's true that corruption runs deep- as shown by the Warden beating up prisoners and Marcus reluctantly taking bribes.
But the 6 who died, died while trying to save what they assumed was a young girl in a blazing inferno.
I do feel bad for them - and I do think it's actually vile what Jinx did. But I feel it shows that there is a systemic issue within the enforcers in that those who yearn to do good and save lives are probably either removed, resigned, or killed.

That something similar is something called Chemtech. It might not be as powerful as Hextech, but it's available to the masses and easy to get a hold of, and it's range stretches far beyond just steroids like Shimmer. I could be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure that the Undercity higher-ups, known as Chem-Barons (like Silco (I think)), are the ones in charge of the stuff.

11:20 A little correction here- Marcus didn’t order Deckard (the guy who was first given shimmer) at all, in fact he really wasn’t in on any of Silco’s plans in episode 3. It’s a bit hard to pick up on, because I don’t think it’s actually directly stated, but the deal Marcus made with Silco in the beginning was only for the kids. All he wanted to do was put who he thought (with his limited knowledge of the situation that is leagues below our own) were the culprits to a crime that ended up severely injuring people (bc although we never actually see anyone on screen get hurt, Grayson does confirm that people were hurt in the explosion from the first episode). Of course, he had his biases and is a bully to those around him, but unfortunately, he is right in the fact that the kids did cause an explosion, albeit unintentionally, whilst robbing a persons home.
To get back to what I was saying though, Marcus only made a deal with Silco under the assumption that Silco would provide the culprits to a case he was on, he was not in the know that Silco would not keep his end of the bargain the way Marcus thought he would. That’s why Marcus said “This wasn’t apart of the deal” in episode three, because it really wasn’t.
Marcus and Silco’s relationship is barley anything like Vander’s and Grayson’s. Where theirs was built on a mutually beneficial system, Marcus doesn’t want to be working with Silco, not really, but because of one dumb, arrogant, and devastating mistake, Marcus is now trapped in a “partnership” that, although may be beneficial in some aspects, goes against his own wants for himself.
I really like Marcus’s character, if you can’t tell, but I don’t mean to be rude or anything with this comment, I just thought you should know that the deal between Marcus and Silco was a bit more nuanced than it might appear to be.

Silco isnt capable of getting Jinx help, hes just as fucked up as she is. He never processed what happened to him properly, he thinks what he became was healthy and made him stronger. Hes not trying to make Jinx follow him out of malice, he genuinely thinks this is what she needs to be better

oh the ages are still like relatively unconfirmed for the most part (they are also slightly different to the og league ages for the characters that are from the game i think) but there is benchmarks so in act 2 and 3 vi and cait are like 23-24, jayce is like 30 so viktor is probably around there too, mel is i think slightly older than jayce by a few years, jinx is around 17-19 and ekko is probably her age but slightly older, and i have no idea about the other characters lol
