    Fun fact: Metro in Naples, in fact, also consists of suburban lines, which share the numbers with real metro lines, making the system large in case of number of lines (currently, 13 lines of this system operates here, with 3 (1, 6 and 11) being the full metro lines with fourth (10) being in construction, and others are commuter lines, operated by different operators).

      @@BorIlovar It will be reopened in July from what I've heard, and will also be extended from Mergellina to Municipio, allowing a connection between lines 1 and 6

      Line 2 is actually a subway. In fact, it complies with the UNI standards that define the subway. However, Wikipedia defines it as an urban railway pass, which is true (or rather, WAS true), but the infrastructure has been updated a lot since 100 years ago, when it was built. And today, it effectively has a reserved location, although the systems can occasionally be shared (on different tracks - see Pozzuoli Solfatara and Campi Flegrei). On Wikipedia, extensive discussions characterized the topic especially in 2009 and 2019, but, since the administrators were poorly informed, and rejected every edit on the relative pages, the status quo prevailed.

      I wonder where you're from? These CAF trains we have in Naples are definitely good, and may I also say, a huge upgrade from our old rolling stock - much quieter and air conditioned. Yes I will miss the sound from the old trains, but at the same time, I welcome the upgrades

    3:46 good ol' Toledo station. Voted as one of the most beautiful metro stations in Europe back in 2012!

    Years ago the Circumvesuviana tickets (huge) had the destination location pre-printed while the departure location was indicated at the time of purchase. Probably a unique case in Italy

    50 years ago or more, combined tickets were already available between the Circumvesuviana, the Metro of the State railways and the Cumana and Circumflegrea railways. Perhaps a more unique than rare case in Italy for the time

    • @gabrielstravels
      @gabrielstravels Před 2 měsíci

      You can still buy an integrated day ticket that allows you to travel on the metro, national railways (Trenitalia), and local railways such as the Circumvesuviana. It costs €5.40 (or at least it did in January this year, price may have gone up now) and it's called *Giornaliero Integrato* - the only problem is that it's only valid within Naples city, so if you want to travel beyond to e.g. Sorrento, you must still buy a normal ticket to get to a destination outside of the city.

    I'm surprised to see so many of the new CAF trains in the video. Are the old yellow trains being retired? I thought the CAF trains were for the line extension and not to replace the old trains. Does anyone know if they are being phased out and when the last train of the old class will run?

    🚄 beautiful video, it's a shame that our beloved Naples metro is badly managed by the ANM. I prefer it to be managed by Trenitalia rather than to be badly managed by a company that also manages road transport badly. Please note that unfortunately you still see brain-damaged people around with the mask oh my how sad they represent there their inferiority stop.
