When I show my friends from Russia the village where my grandfather lived, they don't believe me that it can be a village where people have cows, cultivate fields and have chickens in their backyards. The Polish countryside is beautiful and so peaceful🙃

Oh, so great that you visited also something outside the city! 👍
I remember this castle on water nearby Wrocław. I made first "adult" trip there with a bunch of my friends. We wanted to go somewhere "far", alone, without any adults. 😊 We were 16 at the time 😎
And than, the castle in Leśnica that hosted our półmetek. I would translate półmetek as "half way party". It's a great party that one has in the middle of high school period, after second grade. It was wonderful.
By the way, there is another, traditional party, studniówka (a houndred days party) witch is held about 100 days before ending high school and pasing final exams - "matura" . Studniówka is more ceremonial, everyone is very elegant, teachers are present 😮 and it starts with this ceremonial, traditional dance, "polonez". After a while atmosphere becomes less oficial and tense as there's usually alcohol served (and plenty of food). Półmetek is way less formal, though.

"We are at the outskirts of Wrocław..." Haha, yup, technically you're right, but I live 2km farther away from the city centre and it's still Wrocław. 😀
It's awesome you visited the two castles -- they are not the most well-known locations, and they deserve more attention. Good job! 👏

@charlie & rob - one place you definately should check in Poland is the Upper Silesia, with main city Katowice. Its been considered as the metropoly, consisting (as far as I remember) 14 cities with variety of places worth to take a look and experience

Leśnica isn't a village, it's a district of Wrocław since 1928. But it used to be a village. I like going there for midsummer night in summer and the knightly tourment in autumn, which are organised around the castle

After exploring Wrocław and it's vicinity the next step is to visit the Lower Silesia region, with the Castel Valley nearby Jelena Góra. Climb the 1603 m high Śnieżka mount. Be lost in labyrinth of "Błędne skały" (Rock Maze). Explore the undergrad galleries of old German Nazi factories in Rzeczka. Castle Książ - the pearl compare only to Neuschwanstein castle. And if You don't like hills, go to biggest in Europe, 800 years old complex of fish pounds in Milicz and enjoy the calmness of water, fish and wild birds.
Well, and at the end of your journey allow Charly to pick up her favourite sweets from local "Żabka"🐸 by herself ;)

Hi Rob, I am from Wroclaw living in England I am a teenager and I enjoy watching your vlogs, recently the stadium has been selling out all 41000 seats but for smaller matches weve sold about 20,000 tickets, but this is probally because we have been having a great season as we are first, while last season we were only selling about 4000-12000 tickets due to us finishing just above the relegation zone :)

I was able to attend a Śląsk Wrocław football match at Tarczyński Arena back in October 2022 (I'm an American who was living in Poland at the time). Not a very important match, so the stadium was only about 1/4 full, maybe 1/3 at most. It was still pretty loud and exciting, because both groups of supporters had drums and chants going non-stop, and the stadium does a good job of holding the noise. Probably not too exciting for someone from England, but it was my first watching a top-level European football match in person, so definitely worth it.

Noch ein mal means one more time. Slask Wroclaw, once soccer club run by communist military, now private owned. Yet supported by local council. Nit quite sure about ownership structure. Currently bottom of Polush premier league. They still own the stadium at Grabiszynska street, clise to town centre and much more tailored as for capacity to their fan base. Tarczynski Arena may lure crowd when national team play important game. Slask only sporadically pkays in European competitons. They were quite strong in 80s.😊

Club is owned by city in 100% and costs as about 6 000 000 euros per year, or something like that.
In today's match there was about 17000 people, but normally it's about 11000.
Btw, stadium is also in hands of city, and club pays few millions of Zlotys per year to rent it.
And that cash are loaned to club from city 😂

Some nice drone shots again Rob.👍
The countryside looked beautiful. Always good to have a mix of city and "the beyonds" when you visit a country, otherwise you're only getting part of the picture or story of a place.
The Sky Tower reminded me of some we have in Aus, with you're impending trip here soon.
Centre point tower observation deck in Sydney. Around 250m above ground.
Brilliant 360 degrees of the city, coastline, Harbour and beyond.
And there's also SkyPoint observation deck, 230m high, up on the Gold coast.
Nice one getting into that cool looking stadium. Those seats look comfy.
The last stadium I was in was Stadium Australia in Olympic Park, Sydney. For the Firefight relief concert. It's pretty big.
And the first one I ever went to was Suncorp stadium in Brisbane, as a kid.
Anyways I enjoyed the Wroclaw/Poland series. Love the couples vlogs of course. But it was a nice change up to see you getting out on your own. Just as it's been seeing Charlie do the same. I think it allows us to see another side to you both.

as a wrocław resident, the sky tower tours are dodgy, the tickets are weird etc. there are better lookout point in wrocław, like the Cmentarz Żołnierzy Polskich that you showed in the beginning. also śląsk pulls in around 19-30 k viewers, with 25-30 ish on bigger matches like the derby with zagłębie lubin and the seats are great and have been designed by a known polish furniture company from krosno

Talking about castles... If you are inetrested in automotive history, there's Topacz Castle, very close to the Wrocław, where you can find museum of cars hostory. To be precise: mostly communist times cars history. There are all brands and models of the cars developed in Poland and some originated in other coutries: East Germany, Czechoslovakia, etc., but also some western cars, like old Jaguars, Bentleys...

Rob I have a question. As you know stadiums here in Australia are made for all sports from Footy, Soccer and Cricket. As I saw there in Poland it made for Soccer. Then question I have In England are stadium, built for one sport or are they built for more then one.

    • @CharlieandRob
      @CharlieandRob  Před rokem +1

Yea most in England are built for one sport. But if you think, football is played for like 9 months of the year and when the season is over you quite often get concerts in them

You see, you may think that I am boring (I didn't actually speak much throughout the video, so how I could be perceived as boring is beyond me), but how on earth would boringness equate to haughtiness? And, what makes me look like a peasant? It just seems that you have a sizeable disdain towards anyone that is English.
As Patrycja said, would you say those types of things to my face in-person? I doubt it. If were you, I wouldn't go leaving abhorrent comments - it will back fire on you one day.

Biedronka small supermarkets chain store is not Polish, it is owned by Portuguese company Jeronimo - Martins. Next time avoid Tarczynski kabanoses. It is pure chemistry, bones, skin, etc and might be dangerous for your health. About 15 years ago about 20 tons of these kabanoses were sent back from Czech Republic. Czech authorities found only about 4 - 5% of real meat inside, remaining quantity was useless and harmful garbage.

That is graveyard of polish soldiers and civilians (600 of them jointly) killed by Germans during IIWW. Some of them are soldiers killed in defensive campaign in September '39.
Some are those killed in camps by German occupants.
Some are civilians who died during forced labour for Germans.
And others were soldiers of so called "second polish army", or "first polish army" (depends who you ask.
It was army created by Stalin of polish prisoners of gulags.
It was created to pretend that Soviet army is liberating Poland, not just bringing other occupation.
So, that poor people were thrown to worst battles and many of them died.
And they also are buried there.
      Graveyard was created in '70s.
