  • My first drive with Tesla FSD 12.4.3 was zero intervention, though it wasn't able to find a spot to pull over at the end. It looks like completely hands free self-driving is ready for wide release!

Yes, it is incredible! and to think that the media and public at large aren't thrilled with anticipation for what is about to unfold is mind boggling . Watching the birth of FSD on CZcams has really highlighted the lack of vision that the vast majority of people have. They either desperately want it to fail in their quest to cling to what's familiar, or they only see the mistakes. The reality is that Tesla FSD can now handle over 90% of driving scenarios with no human intervention required. It will be far superior to human drivers in the near future and will be as boring and commonplace as driving internal combustion engine cars are today. It'll be no big deal and we will quickly forget that we used to have to manually drive ourselves everywhere.

Is when I’m in the fast lane with FSD and another car is coming up fast behind me my Tesla model Y will move into the middle lane to let the car go by and then, if there are no more cars coming up quickly, it will move back to the fast lane again.

My city replaced many stop signs with yield, to avoid people having to stop and restart on a snowy, icy hill, at least when no one is coming.
When i lived in Oslo a couple of months, the law was that one should yield and preferably not stop where minor residential streets met slightly larger residential streets. They thought that worked better for traffic flow.
Given that American drivers seem to prefer yield to stop, I wonder if they'd find they like roundabouts.

Sadly for me in my rural routes, other than lane centering (which is better), 12.4.3 is a regression in every way compared to 12.3.6! It pulls partly straight out into intersections, pauses, and then tries to make a hard 90 degree turn instead of following a natural arc. It switches lanes back and forth for no reason. Gets "locked" at lower speeds and you have to "remind" it to go back up to the speed limit by pressing the accelerator. And is just overall more unsure. 2024 Model 3 Performance with hardware 4. Still, progress can be a little bumpy at times. Kudos to the FSD team for having their eyes on the prize and working so hard!

May I know what the setting for FSD that you used is? Mine keeps changing lanes like crazy.

That was pretty good. One thing that always bother me with FSD was how hard it would brake instead of being more human like of easing into the brakes.

What FSD Profile are you on if you don't mind me asking? Assertive, Average or Chill? Trying to figure out which one to use for LA traffic.

I think other than chill (which is just too timid), the other two are very similar from Dirty Tesla's testing

Enjoy your fsd videos, the progress is amazing. I think the car should've stopped at 4:20 though to let the old person cross the street.

I think I have 11.3.8 or something and it was initially impressive and has gotten bad. Tentative, unsure, backing out of multiple lane changes to where I have to take over to get off the freeway is it normal for an edition to just devolve?

@@FriedChairsThis version appears to be much better. The wide release version should be well polished before release to the masses.

I think that extra hesitation at 18:00 was for the pedestrians on the left who looked like they would walk across the road.

Near the destination you say the Tesla could have gone ahead of the car leaving the parking garage. However I noted that there were two pedestrians who looked like they were about to enter the crosswalk and I think the hesitation was for them not the car leaving the garage. I think the Tesla did the right thing and hesitated for pedestrians.
